Generation of Energy Using Renewable Resources
Vrbka, Martin ; Langerová, Petra (referee) ; Froehling, Kenneth (advisor)
The Impact of the Renewable Energy Transition on Rentier Structures: A Case Study of Saudi Arabia since the 2014 Oil Price Plunge
Remsey, Diana Nora ; Kazharski, Aliaksei (advisor) ; Weinfurter, Jaroslav (referee)
1 MA Thesis 2023 Diana Nora Remsey (53969839) Abstract The adoption of renewable energy in rentier states prompts a crucial inquiry into its potential impact and whether it could signal the transformation or eventual decline of the rentier state model. This paper investigates the impact of the renewable energy transition on the rentier structures of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the 2014 oil price plunge. Through a qualitative case study approach and content analysis of primary and secondary literature, the study explores how Saudi Arabia's efforts to diversify its energy mix and embrace renewable technologies influence its rentier economic model and political structures. The findings reveal significant strides towards renewable energy adoption under the Vision 2030 plan. However, the rentier structures and the role of ruling elites remain largely intact, with a focus on economic growth and political stability. The implications suggest a need for comprehensive approaches to address underlying rentier structures while promoting economic and political reforms for a sustainable energy transition in rentier states.

Alternative and renewable energy policy in Europe
Orujov, Faig ; Ščasný, Milan (advisor) ; Střítecký, Vít (referee)
Driven by the fact that the global oil market has become extremely volatile and the EU dependence on oil continues to grow, this paper argues that with more emphasis on renewable energy and by using domestically produced alternative energy sources instead of importing foreign oil the EU Member States would drastically improve their energy security and energy independence. The study investigates both past and present trends in the EU energy sources supply and consumption patterns. Additionally, the paper considers possibilities of the renewable and alternative energy both at the current stage and future development of this sector in the EU. The research findings confirm the initial hypothesis as to whether the share of alternative and renewable energy will be sufficiently large to contribute to solving a problem of the EU energy security and independency. The role of the renewables in national energy security strategies of three EU Member States is studied and government supporting policies that enhance renewable sources development are analyzed.
Biomethane production in biogas plants
Matoušek, Jakub ; Miklas, Václav (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the production of biomethane in biogas plants. The introductory part presents the operation of the biogas plant, its inputs, components, and products. The main part of the thesis deals with the perspective of biomethane in the Czech Republic and Europe and progressive technologies for the conversion of biogas to biomethane. The basic principle, advantages and disadvantages of each upgrade method are given. Common technologies at the level of commercial readiness include high pressure water scrubbing, organic physical scrubbing, chemical scrubbing process, pressure swing adsorption and membrane separation. The mentioned methods of biogas upgrading are evaluated and compared with regard to their practical applicability in the Czech environment.
Guesthouse Zátoka
Rajchl, Filip ; Šteffek, Libor (referee) ; Ostrý, Milan (advisor)
The aim of my thesis is to design new Guest house called Zátoka near the Pozlovice dam. Thesis is divided in three parts. First is part is focused on building design and construction. Second part is focused on HVAC design and renewable energy sources. Third part is focused on advanced application of BIM in building design. Guest house is two – storey building but there is one more underground storey for sport activities which is not part of the building service, but it is part of the design. Ground floor contains three guest rooms, office, utility room and air condition room and of course wind lobby and entrance hall with stairs. In the second floor we can find four guest rooms and corridor. Heating in the building is secured by pellet boiler with storage reservoir. Ventilation is provided by two air condition units. And cooling is secured by one cooling unit on the roof. Each room has radiators and cooling distribution units and ventilation. On the roof we can find 26 photovoltaic panels. Third part is focused on digital model of the building. Each part of the model contains information and whole model is one big database of information about the building which can be used through the whole life cycle of the building.
Material history of planetary urbanization
Šana, Václav ; Bartůšek, Ondřej (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the final urbanization of the planet term from a materialistic point of view. The distribution of freshwater, energy consumption and especially agricultural food production are the basic factors which, together with logistics and demography, form fundamental drivers of material history. The "Malthusian" fear of a situation where the world's population is running out of resources accompanies contemporary rhetoric. The aim of the work is to try to find and explore solutions to the material necessities of humanity and to design organizational principles, systems, urban and architectural solutions.

Renewable energy sources in the Cusco region, Peru
Idini, Bruno
This thesis breaks down some of the major forms of renewable energy that are found in the region of Cusco. Several energy sources are assessed while presenting their relevance and suitability for the territory’s unique landscape and environment. After having analysed different forms of renewable energies, hydropower is the one believed to be the better option for the region, in order to progress within a clean energy framework. Aiming to ease the process of identifying and evaluating prospect locations, for the installation of hydro powered systems, a Hydropower Preliminary Assessment Table is presented. The Table is designed to act as a guidance paper, which can support decision making. The different sections that are found on the Table are extensively discussed, in addition to its results and limitations.
Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy Panel Data Analysis
Křížková, Alžběta ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Moravcová, Michala (referee)
This thesis analyses the seventh Sustainable Development Goal: Affordable and Clean Energy. Four empirical models are built, each for one indicator. They are then evaluated using panel data analysis for all member states of the UN. The research question it seeks to answer is: "What characteristics have major impact on providing electric energy and other energy related benefits?" We found that in most of the cases, the proportion of urban population and the Human Development Index have a major impact on the indicators. Unlike any previous study dealing with similar topics, this paper analyses the whole goal with its four indicators, not just one particular energy aspect. That allows us to look for interconnection and common features between indicators and their influences.
