Melodies from the underground. Music underground in northern Bohemia in the period of normalization
Příhodová, Zuzana ; Vaněk, Miroslav (advisor) ; Diestler, Radek (referee)
This Diploma Thesis deals with the musical underground in northern Bohemia during the period of so-called normalization. It aims to summarize the characteristics of the underground movement and conditions for music production in the informal culture, and deals mainly with the underground rock scene. The theoretical part focuses on understanding the underground movement from today's perspective and is critical to the created underground phenomenon by studying the written sources and by the analysis of interviews with witnesses. An authentic narration obtained by the oral history brings to the topic a personal view and conviction selected representatives, who, regardless of historical circumstances, were managed to mantain their inner freedom. Samples lyrics and the interpretation of the positions of the narrators are intended to help readers find other than just mythicised view of the underground in Czechoslovak history.

Conceptualization of Space in Historiography
Pýcha, Čeněk ; Činátl, Kamil (advisor) ; Spurný, Matěj (referee)
The main topic of this master thesis are the representation of space of northern Bohemia in the era of czechoslovakian state socialism. The aim of thesis is to approximate historical agents understanding of space. There is a Michel de Certeau's concept of space in the methodological background. De Certeau understands space like a set of places, which is designed by dynamic by social agents. For analysis I have chosen some social realms, where is strong connection to space (tourism, cultural heritage managment, school education, visual representation and sending postcards). The sources were designed by these social realms and the thesis is grounded on the case studies. At the end of thesis I have tried to apply Aleida Assmann's theory of paradigmatic change in the social concept of time. This change we can observate in the 80s and it occures also in space, because direct in space is made sense of time. Keywords: space, northern Bohemia, socialism, representation, historical agent
Northern Bohemia as a potential distribution area of the genus Tuber including summer truffles (Tuber aestivum)
Šťovíček, Václav ; Gryndler, Milan (advisor) ; Jablonský, Ivan (referee)
Truffles are economically important fungi that are naturally present in the territory of the Czech Republic. Their geographical distribution is traditionally documented by the field incidence of fruitbodies. Advanced detection methods, however, enabled us to detect the presence of Tuber spp. at localities without a need for finding the underground fruitbodies. In this work, a molecular genetic detection method based on the polymerase chain reaction with specific primers was used. It enables us to determine the occurrence of members of the genus Tuber including Tuber aestivum in the studied samples. Members of the genus Tuber were detected in 67 cases out of a total of 190 samples. Highly probably, Tuber borchii, Tuber foetidum, Tuber rufum, Tuber dryophilum, Tuber umbilicatum, Tuber huidongense, Tuber oligospermum and Tuber aestivum have been detected. Since the sequence similarity with the closest species is relatively low in some cases, some of the obtained sequences might belong to hitherto unknown truffle species. Environmental factors analyzed explain only a small portion of the variability, acted weakly and cannot be taken as decisive for the presence or the absence of a species in a sample. The occurrence of truffles in the slopes of the study area was noted and it seems to be still more...
Questions of Saxon Renaissance
Ramešová, Michaela ; Macek, Petr (advisor) ; Biegel, Richard (referee)
Dealing with both practical and consequently theoretical aspects, the thesis treats the Saxon Renaissance with the emphasis on the architecture in the Czech Republic. The purpose of the first part was to put together a list of historical monuments. Supported by previous research the selection method was determined and the individual buildings described. As a result we organized them into types and specified the Saxon Renaissance architectural features. Then we discussed broader issues related to the Saxon Renaissance architecture that were: the influence of Saxon timber-framed architecture, the origins and the role of the portal with seat shaped niches in the jambs; we re-examined the importance of the architectural commissions of the house of Pernštejn and we proposed to link the Bohemian Saxon Renaissance architecture with Czech early renaissance terracotta pieces. The second part of the thesis further explores the contextual issues. It tracks the early sixteen century French architecture and focuses on the German renaissance architecture, that of Saxony in particular. Then some theoretical reflections on the character of transalpine architecture are presented. Consequently, the thesis analyses the particularities of the region where the Saxon Renaissance architecture appeared - North-western...
Jurrasic calcareous nannoplankton from the northern Bohemia
Martincová, Anna ; Holcová, Katarína (advisor) ; Hrbek, Jan (referee)
Bachelor thesis summarizes the current knowledge of the Jurassic calcareous nanoplankton in relation to areas of northern Bohemia as a literary review. Work chracterize calcareous nannofossil in term of life cycle, ecology and points to its considerable importance for biostratigraphy. Work also describes the Jurassic sediments of the Bohemian Massif and the development of communities in the Jurassic calcareous nannofossils. Part of this work is a summary of the Jurassic expansion of calcareous nannofossils in Europe and creation of his survey through a table. The work also suggests the possibility of using calcareous nannofossils for specification biostratigraphy of northern Bohemia.
Cephalopods and biostratigraphy of North Bohemian Jurassic sediments
Hrbek, Jan ; Košťák, Martin (advisor) ; Ziegler, Václav (referee)
The Jurassic ammonites from the Northern Bohemia has been revised on the base of the material stored in the National Museum in Prague and the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. 23 species and 19 genera, belonging to 7 families were described on the basis of this systematical revision. This ammonite assemblage indicates a proportional occurence of the Boreal, Tethyan and also cosmopolitan taxa. Stratigraphically important taxa suggest a considerably longer period of sedimentation, predominantly represented by the Upper Jurassic carbonates. This interval may contain up to 9 ammonite zones. A pilot microfacial analysis of carbonates from Peškova stráň area (in Krásná Lípa vicinity) indicates a considerably higher variability of sedimentation area. The presence of micritic carbonates suggests the existence of a widespread areas in the Late Jurassic sea covering the Bohemian Massif. The biostratigraphy and palaeogeography is briefly discussed in the European Late Jurassic context. Key words: ammonites, Upper Jurassic, Northern Bohemia, carbonate sediments, biostratigraphy, palaeogeography
Camps and waters: Malý Medvědí Tábor as part of a North Bohemian Mesolithic landscape
Svoboda, Jiří ; Novák, J. ; Novák, Martin ; Pokorný, P. ; Sázelová, Sandra
The paper introduces a newly discovered Mesolithic rock shelter Malý medvědí tabor, located in the canyon of the Svitávka River. The excavation revealed intact Mesolithic layers, rich in charcoals and a hearth feature outlined by sandstone blocks. Analyses of the environmental data, fauna, and lithic artefacts are included. In sum, the occupation of the rock shelter was rather episodic, nevertheless the site is of domestic character, as suggested by the richness and character of artefacts. The surrounding vegetation can be reconstructed as a sparse pine forests with common spread of hazel, oak and early successional vegetation with aspen and birch. Given a presence of a nearby peat-bog at Velenice, this new site serves as an important reference point for prehistoric human presence in the Svitavka river valley.
