Czechoslovak Diplomacy and Israel in 1948-1967

Noemi Krausová Bachelor thesis Czechoslovak Diplomacy and Israel in 1948 - 1967 2015 Abstract This bachelor thesis focuses on the development of Czechoslovak-Israeli diplomatic relations from 1948 until 1967. Czechoslovakia supported the Jewish community in Palestine in the first years after the Second World War and was promoting the idea of a Jewish state. The friendly attitude on the part of Czechoslovakia was not altered after the communist coup in 1948. Czechoslovakia became the only state to support Israel, by supplying arms, during the War of Independence of 1948/49. Since 1950, however, the Czechoslovak attitude towards Israel began to change under the Soviet influence which was clearly dominant in the internal as well as external policies of the communist regime in Prague. The relations with Israel gradually deteriorated after 1950 as Zionism was declared as an enemy by the communist power. The anti-Zionism of the regime became most pronounced during the political trial against the former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, Rudolf Slánský, as well as against other - mostly Jewish - party officials in 1952. A case study on public diplomacy and nation branding - the Czech center in New York City

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the success of the Czech Center in New York in public diplomacy and nation branding. The thesis is divided into 5 parts and a conclusion. The main objective of the thesis was to find out the mission of the Czech Center and then to follow this up with research on whether it is successful in its activities. The thesis notes the development of the Czech Centers in general and the specifics of center in New York, then discusses the economic situation. Mainly the thesis notes what the most important activities of the centre are. I worked with sources from the Czech Centrers directly (interviews with the Director General of the Czech Centres and the Director of the Czech Center in New York), as well as with professional literature or news reports. A large part of the work also consists of research. There I found out from both Czech and American respondents what they would like to see in at a Czech Center. Then, by comparing these results with other information found, I can say whether the Czech Center in New York is effective and add short recommendations for their communication.

Czechoslovak embassy in Moscow in the years 1945-1948

1 Abstract Adamů Miloš: Czechoslovak Embassy in Moscow in the years 1945-1948 Praha: The Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, 2011 188 s., The diploma thesis. The thesis monitors and evaluates the activities of the Czechoslovak Embassy in Moscow in the critical post-war years 1945-1948. It attempts to process the structure of the diplomatic and partly personnel corps, including changes that gradually occurred in the office. The task of the thesis is also monitoring the influence of inland events on the running of the embassy and its important leaders in those four years. The thesis largely follows the events of February 1948, which meant milestone situations for the Czechoslovak Embassy's activities and significantly influenced the lives of most of its employees. The ambassadors take the important place and they are given a high attention. The thesis also notes the fates of the selected persons in 1948. The bachelor thesis Anthony Eden and the Foreign Office, 1935-1938 deals with foreign policy of Anthony Eden during the time, when he was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom before the Second World War. The thesis analyses influence of Anthony Eden on Italian-Abyssinian war, Rhineland crisis, Spanish civil war and studies, up to what extent, Anthony Eden took part in the appeasement policy. The thesis focuses on the changes in functioning of Foreign Office during the time, when Neville Chamberlain became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Stanley Baldwin.

Hanuš Jelínek Between Culture and Politics (1914 - 1944)

v anglickém jazyce The present thesis deals with the life and activities of Hanuš Jelínek (1878-1944), one of the most prominent figures of the Czech-French relations of the first half of the 20th century. Based upon studies of archive documents, press and literature, its aim is to explain his activities namely during the period of the First Republic which has not been much reflected in the literature so far. This is mainly due to the fact that the primary source on Hanuš Jelínek - his memoirs called Zahučaly lesy ("Forrest Murmurs") end in 1919. The thesis is divided into three bigger parts. The first one recapitulates Jelínek's youth, formation of his personality and political views and last but not least the birth of his Francophilia. The second, pivotal part, places emphasis on his effort to get himself established in the nascent Czechoslovak diplomatic services. It analyses the eleven year period Jelínek spent at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as other activities stemming from his position there. The final part deals with Jelínek's cultural life and influences, however, it only gives a general overview necessary in order to understand Jelínek's personal life and has no ambition to review his extensive literary work. The main actors of the economic diplomacy in the Czech Republic - dynamics of change

This bachelor thesis deals with economic diplomacy of the Czech Republic, particularly it deals with its main actors -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Industry and Trade -- and dynamics of changes of their relationship. The aim of the thesis is an analysis of crucial interaction between these two actors thus the essential part of the paper is focused on three fundamental events of ministerial interaction. The turns of the year 1998/1999, 2010/2011 and the year 2014, which is a key component of the thesis since it covers current situation between actors and contemporary condition of the Czech economic diplomacy

Possibilities of Cloud Computing application in public administration on the example of Czech diplomatic missions

Cloud Computing is currently frequently discussed concept. Access to IT via a web browser is increasingly desired means of providing information and communication technology across the whole society, public administration included. This thesis focuses on the possibilities of Cloud Computing employment in the Czech Republic's Public Administration, specifically on the example of Czech diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which they are directly subordinated. As a starting point the comparison with the United States, thw Great Britain, Australia, Switzerland, Japan and the European Union is taken. These examples demonstrate that Cloud Computing can work in public administration and that it will remain a trend prevalent in government offices on a global scale. Equally important is the comparison with the situation within the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, which has already been using Cloud Computing services for couple of years. Based on the comparison with all above mentioned countries, with the Ministry of the Interior and given the international, European and national legal requirements, potential cloud services for email communication and document management system are identified to be envisaged for diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
