Remembering Easter Rising

5 Abstract The bachelor thesis focuses on the official policy of remembering the Easter Rising in Ireland in 1916. The attention concentrates on the political representatives of the Irish Free State and Irish Republic from 1922 to 2006 and their attitude towards commemorations of the Easter Rising. The topic is elaborated using mainly English secondary sources and also some primary sources like political documents and videos. Regarding the methodology, the so-called collective memory concept is used, especially the lieux de mémoire method by Pierre Nora. The thesis examines the basic factors influencing the Irish representatives' attitude towards the Easter commemorations. Simultaneously, the paper analyses the means used by the Irish representatives to influence the people's commemorative practises. The Culture of Memory: The Destiny od Lidice Memorial

This Bachelor work, dealing with a topic of Culture of Memory: The Destiny of Lidice Memorial, discusses primarily history of the Memorial built in the area of Lidice tragedy and declining visit rate as well as public interest in this sacred place after 1989. That is divided into four explanation captures. The introduction pays attention to general characterization and history of memorials and monuments, focused on their function and utilization. The second part commemorates history, the act of Lidice destruction in June 1942 itself, including other fates of Lidice inhabitants and also international acclaim caused by that unprecedented Nazi crime. That handles with 10th June 1942 in Lidice, shooting of men, abducting of women and children to Kladno Grammar School and following transport to concentration camps. This chapter further it describes the destiny of Lidice with its survivors after the Second World War. The international reaction immediately after the burning down, gained from those local media sources, belongs to this second part too. The third part devotes to proper history and story of the Memorial. All this commemorates that the Memorial is a component of extensive commemorative area, which completes the sacred zone of former Lidice with the Rose Garden and the Monument of Children. The...
The Analysis of the Portrayal of the Region in the Works of the Teschen Silesian Writers via Kubisz's Writings

The goal of this thesis entitled The Analysis of the Portrayal of the Region in the Works of the Teschen Silesian Writers via Kubisz's Writings is to bring the life's work of Jan Kubisz-known writer, educator, and community organizer-into public discourse, and to demonstrate the aspects which have influenced both his creations and a Teschenian mentality. We begin with presenting a historical research of the region whose basis rests in Kubisz's works, primarily in Pamiętnik starego nauczyciela. We also discuss the literary characteristics of Teschenian Silesia in order to pinpoint distinctive local tendencies and issues. We proceed to examine Kubisz's approach to Germanization of the region and his handling of nationalism. The analysis of the Teschenian anthem illustrates Kubisz's legacy for the future generations. In order to facilitate the understanding of the terms used in this thesis, the additional chapter outlines their meanings and connotations. Finally, we show the impact of Kubisz's works on local population and its understanding of identity by introducing separate study and interpreting its outcomes. The object of dimpoma project is the revitalization of Moravian square in Brno; to revive the memory of the place, to increase its capacity of communication. It was the place of mighty fortification, the part of conception of ring avenue with parks, impressive German house with park. The park with the fountain which form was red five-pointed star. And what is Moravian square now? And what it can to be?
