"The time for self" - realization of women on maternity leave
HORATSCHKEOVÁ, Adéla
The topic of this paper is "me time" for women on maternity leave. The definition of "maternity leave" encompasses both maternity leave and parental leave. The theoretical portion of the paper is devoted primarily to motherhood, which is discussed from several points of view and is examined in various contexts. The practical part of the paper consists of qualitative research using the method of semi-structured interviews of mothers on maternity leave. The research questions relate to the women's perception of the concept of "me time" while on maternity leave, the attitudes perceived by women that individuals in the women's immediate environment have about their "me time", and, lastly, the change in activities that the women were involved in before they had children and their activities during maternity leave. The aim of the research is to examine how women on maternity experience this concept: how women fill this "me time", whether they are fulfilled, and what needs they have in this respect. The data was analyzed using the "case card" method. It was found that most mothers in the research group viewed the concept of "me time" as time when they are alone and can devote themselves to the activities they enjoy. The need for such alone time was found to be less important especially when the child was very young. A phenomenon of the perception of "me time" that included time spent alone with the woman's husband or partner emerged. In most cases, the environment looked positively on the woman's "me time" and supported her in her activities. The women's activities did not change significantly over time, but a significant change occurred in the number of opportunities the women on maternity had for themselves and for the activities they enjoy.

Povýšilová, Emília ; Dvořák, Antonín (advisor) ; Fleissner, Kamil (referee)
The aim of this Bachelors Thesis is to introduce the issue of gender equality in the context of the multicultural world of the 21st century and find out if it has already been achieved. Gender Equality is one of the Sustainable Development Goals and hence a part of The 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development. This Agenda is trying to ensure a good life for the future generations. The theoretical part describes the main factors that have an influence on the position of genders in the society. The main factors include historical development (natural work division and stereotypes), geopolitical conditions and religion (cultural traditions). Next, the problem is looked at from the perspective of two developed countries, to be specific, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, describing their labour markets using the glass-ceiling index. The practical part compares the collected theoretical data with the data collected in my questionnaire held in the Czech Republic and the Great Britain.
Ženy v péči o děti : plná rodičovská dovolená nebo dřívější návrat do práce
Tubert, Anna ; Šestořád, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
This thesis focuses on the factual time spent by Czech and Russian mothers on maternity and parental leaves, and analyses factors leading women for certain decision-making about the length of leave. In the following work, I analyse cross-sectional data portraying responses of a questionnaire filled up by 106 Russian and 102 Czech mothers. Theoretical approach on similarities and differences of attitude towards womens role in modern society between the two countries shows, that social and economic status of the family is the main determinant of the length of parental leave. Econometric analysis conducted in my work highlights, that willingness to stay with a child is the main motive to prolong parental leave for women from both countries. Greater importance placed on the supply of preschool facilities reduces the time spent on parental leave. Both Czech and Russian governments can affect the factual length of parental leave by regulating the supply of part-time job and the supply of preschool facilities, therefore, government is a significant regulator of the total time spent on parental leave.
