Community Centre for Seniors
DRSOVÁ, Terezie
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out what benefits the community centres for elderly citizens have. The basic concepts such as old age, aging, the needs of elderly citizens and communication with them were explained in the theoretical part. Furthermore, the theoretical part delt with the periodization of old age on the bases of diverse authors and particular aspects of old age were described. The research question concerning contributions of community centres to senior citizens was answered in the practical part. A partial research question dealt with perception of the benefits of a community centre by the senior citizens. A qualitative research strategy, a method of questioning and a semi-structured interview technique were chosen to fulfil the main goal. Research files were selected with the method of deliberate selection. Criteria for the selection of community centres were set in advance. The method of open coding was used to evaluate the extracted data. The research has shown that senior citizens who visit the community centre are integrated into society and can use their free time much better. The community centre offers them space for implementing various activities and simultaneously participating in professional lectures, which are organized within the community centre. The conclusion based on the research seems to prove that the respondents like to visit the community centre and it helped them to establish new relationships that would not exist otherwise. The research has shown that elderly citizens perceive the development of motor skills through various activities such as crocheting as a benefit of the activities. The results of the bachelor thesis can serve as a feedback for the facility where the research was carried out. It may also be useful for senior citizens who are considering a residential type of the facility, a choice between a facility with the community centre, or a facility without one.
Is current social work with the community in the Czech republic a theory or a practice?
Deutschová, Barbora ; Pěnkava, Pavel (advisor) ; Šťastná, Jaroslava (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to draw the reader's attention to the importance and necessity of community and social work with the community, which is not anchored in the Czech Republic by any legislation. The thesis draws attention to a number of ambiguous definitions of terms and different perspectives on social work with community, although many professional materials emphasize the need for functional communities, which are often replaced by social services. My thesis presents a deaf understanding of terms relating to community and community work. The emergence and gradual development of community social work then expands and refines the understanding of community work and its impact on society as a whole. The role of the social or community worker themselves then plays a crucial role in social work with the community, with clarification of their remit and job description being an essential part of social work with the community. The starting point for this work is the national and regional strategic documents that influence the direction of social work. The thesis then turns to research to answer the key question of whether current social work with the community in the Czech Republic is theory or practice.

Klvaňová, Markéta ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Svobodová Kaiferová, Dagmar (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the landscape of the part of the Bečva river basin and to find out problems with the drainage conditions due to the persisting problems with floods and droughts. Based on the acquired knowledge about the landscape and human activity, the most vulnerable parts of the area were selected, with priority being given to revitalizing activities. The tools for revitalization of the landscape are complex land arrangements (hereinafter referred to as KoPU). The work determined insufficiency in their implementation and therefore possible changes to the procedures of the KoPU implementation process were proposed. The proposed procedures include cooperation with landscape and water management experts who are able to identify landscape problems, propose effective measures, and provide consultations to individual municipalities. In addition, community-led processes have been proposed to contribute to positive public approach to revitalization and overall awareness of environmental issues. The proposed KoPU implementation procedures, including land remedy (also with landscape improvements), should help to stabilize the water regime and to reduce the negative impacts of the climate changes.

Socially excluded locality and its perception by municipality politicans
Severová, Petra ; Vrzáček, Petr (advisor) ; Havrdová, Zuzana (referee)
The Diploma thesis focuses on the issues of social exclusion and people threatened by social exclusion phenomenon. In the thesis I address the process of social inclusion, which is related to socially excluded localities based on particular characteristics and local problems. A separate chapter is devoted to the method of community work that is focused on the effective response to the needs of socially excluded people. Furthermore I emphasize the work of the Agency for Social Inclusion, a major instrument of the Government of the Czech Republic, providing support to municipalities in the process of social integration. The relationship of the majority towards the socially excluded is also discussed within the thesis. Many studies consider the municipality and its government to represent the key role in the process of social inclusion of people endangered by social exclusion. However in the reality there are big differences among the municipalities with regard to the operation and support of socially excluded people. Social departments of some municipalities are acting proactively, others are not. The main difference lies in the self-government approach. Therefore I decided to focus my Diploma thesis research on this particular issue. The aim of the thesis is to describe the attitudes of the members...
