Executive functions of individuals with boderline personality disorder

The primary topic of this work is to describe the executive functions profile of people diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Neuropsychological methods of measurement are used such as the Rey-Osterreith Complex Figure Test and also the self-made scale for self-judgement, which investigates the daily activities of people diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. The aim of this work is to describe the main terms of Borderline Personality Disorder and the executive functions system, as viewed by current Czech and foreign literature, and also current international research. Within Borderline Personality Disorder we are interested in the diagnostic criterion of DSM-IV and ICD-10. We are also interested in its etiology. There are huge efforts to show the destructive consequences this diagnosis can have for the individual in their daily life activities. The term 'executive functions system' is here explained through the difficult definitions which vary from author to author. This work strives to explain the origin of the executive functions system, where the functions are placed and what their function is. BPQ - Contribution to a validation study

ANNOTATION: This thesis deals with the Czech version of the BPQ (Borderline Personality Questionare) and aims to verify the psychometric properties questionare. I use custom developed data collected in the context of a larger study NÚDZ aimed at needy validation of a questionnaire method of measuring different facets of personality functioning. Detailed analysis of these data, I concluded that the questionnaire is internally consistent, as I stated prior percentile standards and compared the psychometric properties of the Czech version of the original American version. Romantic Relationships and Borderline Personality Disorder

This thesis focuses on the psychosocial functioning of couples including a woman diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. To describe their functioning, a study following 16 clinical couples was performed and their characteristics were compared with a control sample of 21 couples. Three areas were monitored: personality styles of partners of women with BPD, attachment dimensions and partner satisfaction and its interrelationships with the mentioned variables. Data were obtained using a test battery consisting of the following questionnaires: PSSI, ECR-R-16 and DAS (the subscale for partner satisfaction). The results of the study showed that the borderline personality style in women is associated with similar and complementary personality traits in their partners, while these features of the partner are significantly higher in comparison with the control sample. The research also confirmed the predominance of the insecure attachment in women with borderline personality disorder and their partners. Borderline personality disorder is also connected with lower partner satisfaction as compared with the control sample, and the degree of the satisfaction is negatively linked with borderline personality style and styles that are closely associated. The Influence of the Manifestations of Borderline Type of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder on Family Members

69 Abstract This diploma thesis deals with manifestations of a borderline type of emotionally unstable personality disorder and its influence on family members of people with this type of disease. The aim of this thesis was to present the experience of living with a person with BPD. Qualitative research, using the semi-structured type of interview, was conducted with three respondents, one man and two women. The data was evaluated using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The results show the negative effects of contact with the individual with the BPD and the psychological burden is also evident. The thesis could be beneficial for social and health workers who come into contact with people with the BPD and their loved ones within their practice. At the end of the thesis step are mentioned through which each of us can contribute to the improvement of the situation.

Professional care through the eyes of clients with Borderline Personality Disorder

In this bachelor's thesis I focus on the experience of clients with the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD) in the system of care for the mentally ill in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part of the work I will first introduce the basic manifestations of borderline personality disorder, its typical development, diagnostic criteria, and treatment. Subsequently, I will focus on the stigmatization of BPD, as it is one of the most stigmatized mental illnesses, usually by people working in professional care. I will focus on the analysis of the possible causes of this stigmatization. I will then introduce the current system of care for the mentally ill in the Czech Republic. I will then focus in more detail on the ongoing reform and the specific treatment options that the client with BPD in the Czech Republic now has. In the empirical part I will present the specific experiences of eight respondents who were diagnosed with BPD in the system of care for the mentally ill in the Czech Republic. Attitudes of women with borderline personality disorder to otherness

This thesis explores the attitudes of women with borderline personality disorder towards otherness. The aim of the thesis was to explore the relationship between different personality characteristics of five women diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and their attitudes towards themselves and representatives of otherness. For these purposes, the Semi- Structured Interview for Personality Functioning (STiP-5.1) assessing personal functioning in the personal and interpersonal domains and the experience sampling method (ESM) were used, through which the respondents recorded the intensity of emotions felt towards themselves and various representatives of otherness for 30 days. The data were processed qualitatively into five case studies. The results indicated significant intraindividual variability in emotions toward self and representatives of otherness. The methods could find application in the treatment process and therapy, whereby assessment of personality functioning could contribute to the overall current picture of the patient and the variability of their psychological attitudes in response to certain life events could be monitored using ESM. Social work methods and their effectiveness used for clients with mental disorders

In thesis on the topic "Social work methods used in clients with mental disorders and their effectiveness" I focus on the terminology. I am going to learn basic information about selected mental disorders such as schizophrenia, affective disorders, specifically bipolar disorder, neurotic disorders, specifically obsessive-compulsive disorder and lastly personality disorders, namely borderline personality disorder. Next, I am going to focus on the treatment possibilities of mental disorders, where I speak about the prevention and social worker approach. I continue with social survey and treatment&care for people with mental disorders. Finally, I am going to write about social work methods. The main goal of my thesis was to find what methods of social work are used at work with clients suffering mental disorders. Also if in practice are any methods used and what kind of method is used most often. My next goal was to find out the effectiveness of the methods used in social work. I used survey by a questionnaire. The survey contains 11semi-open questions. Splitting and Dissociation in Schizophrenia

The term splitting is defined as a process of formation of mental aggregates linked incompatible experiences producing numerous divisions in mental apparatus. Current findings indicate that psychological splitting in schizophrenia is likely specifically presented on a neural level as disrupted organization in neural communication. This disrupted neural communication likely underlies deficits in mental processing described by various neuroscientific concepts such as theories of disturbed connectivity, corollary discharges and dynamic complexity. In this context, a purpose of the theoretical part of the dissertation is to describe basic neuroscience theories that complementarily reflect interrelated processes between mind and brain underlying disturbances of mental integration that likely present a neural representation of the splitting. A purpose of the first part of the empirical research was to examine relationships between psychological process of splitting and disturbed cognitive and affective functions in schizophrenia. A sample of patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) was used as a control group in this study.
