Social legislation in Czech lands in the years 1918 - 1948 Abstract The dissertation deals with the theme of social legislation in the period of 1918-1948. i.e. during the so called First, Second and Third Czechoslovak republic. However, the foundations of the Czechoslovak laws in this area lays in the period of Austrian laws, especially from the second half of the 19.th century. Development of social legislation was directly conected with the existence of a legal regulation of modern municipal self-government and higher levels of self-government. Two very important acts were adopted in this respect: Act No. 18/1862 The empire's code implemented on 5th March 1862 "The Act on Municipal matters" and on 3rd December 1863 Act. No. 105/1863 The empire's code "The act about Domestic rights". For poor relief the "The Poverty act" (Act No. 59/1868 The provincial code) was enacted on 3rd December 1868. Based on the social policies of "stick and carrot" of Otto von Bismarck in Germany, the Austrian Government enacted series of Acts on health and other types of social insurance systems, which were not universal, but had differences for different types of workers and employees, for example for miners, factory workers or white collars. Czechoslovak-Hungarian relations in 1945-1948

The main objective of this work is to analyze the Czechoslovak-Hungarian relations in the period 1945-1948, especially in terms of the political and ethnic development in both countries. After the end of the Second World War Czechoslovakia got to the side of the victorious countries, while Hungary found themselves among the defeated states. Hungary, in a reflection of the Czechoslovak policy bore its responsibility for conflicts such as those associated with the Vienna arbitration in 1938, and conflicts associated with belonging to the Hungarian national minority to Czechoslovakia. To the forefront of the Czechoslovak- Hungarian relations has gotten the solution of minority issues which were dealt by Košice government program and by decrees of the President Edvard Beneš. Czechoslovak-Hungarian relations began to become sharper at the bilateral level, and because of other side-effects - involuntary deportation of the Hungarian minority populations, prepared and negotiated exchange of population, transfer to the forced labor on the Czech border, forced reslovakization of Hungarian minority living in Czechoslovakia. Czech schools in the Protectorate

of English I chose the topic "Czech school in the Protectorate" for my Doctoral thesis. The history of the Second world war bellongs to my long interest. My goal was to create a popular - educational publication for student teachers. I never met with this part of history of our school in the Faculty of Education and in the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University. I hope it's very important to remind this part of history - dificult situation of teachers and students during the Nazi era to current students. This sadly topic could raise future teachers to love the profession and could raise the prestige of teachers in our country. My wish would be after reading this work to increase patriotism, love and respect fot the history of our school. I described individual school protectorate years with the introductional into the Protectorate Education. At the beginning of each school year I described the basic historical milestones. I wanted to capture the humiliation of our education system during the Protectorate compared to the high level of pre - war years, dishonor Czech teachers, pupils, students and progressive germanizacion. Forced Use of Secondary School Students During the Occupation

Miroslav Eisenhammer Forced use of secondary school students during the occupation Supervisor: PhDr. Jan Gebhart, CSc., DSc. Abstract This dissertation deals with yet completely unprocessed issue of forced labor deployment of secondary and vocational school pupils in the Czech lands during the occupation by Nazi Germany. After the initial characteristics of the development of the German and the Protectorate economy and the Nazi attitude to use workforce of its own population and of occupied countries, the other chapter is devoted to the situation in the Czech education in 1939-1945. The Nazis considered the Czech intelligence as the enemy, so after the closure of Czech universities they deliberately restricted Czech secondary education. These restrictions did not have only national political, but also economic significance. From 1939 workers from the Czech lands were sent to work in the Reich. This trend increased significantly from 1942, when Germany intensified the expansion of war production and at the same time they started extensive program of forced labor of foreign workers in German industry. One of the labor sources were secondary school pupils, who the new legislation from February 1943 allowed to acknowledge de facto incomplete education based on the confirmed certificate in forced labor...
Human Trafficking: the Gap between International Regulation and Enforcement

The goal of this thesis is to provide insight as to why the number of trafficking cases and convictions is still relatively low compared to the total volume of trafficking occurring, even though the trade is increasingly addressed by international law. Through a study of trafficking itself, a summary of current international legislation, and an analysis of the implementation of said legislation this thesis will show that the gap between legislation and enforcement can be partially accounted for by a widespread failure by states to adequately address the demand for trafficked persons in their national legislation. While this is far from a complete explanation of the problem it is an important piece of the puzzle.
