Educating about financial literacy at primary schools

This master's thesis focuses on the teaching of financial literacy at lower secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The main goal was to characterize and evaluate a selection of internet based programs that specialize in financial literacy in order to gain insight on how the users view the issue at hand and how they interact with these programs. The thesis employs a qualitative research method. The first section is devoted to the theoretical introduction to finance, its definition, characteristics and the components of financial literacy. A special focus was also put on the development of financial literacy in the Czech Republic and the main documents in which it is grounded. The need for implementation of financial literacy into secondary schools' curriculums was based on surveys about the level of financial literacy among students and public. The practical part of this thesis consists of two closely interrelated sections. Firstly, it outlines and examines three different online programs created to help teachers design their financial literacy courses more effectively. Secondly, the thesis presents a methodological research using structured interviews with open questions and concludes by demonstrating the results. Financial education at low secondary schools in the Czech Republic

This thesis presents the concept of developing financial literacy education for pupils of low secondary schools and corresponding years of multi-annual grammar schools enshrined in the existing curriculum documents. Thesis seeks answers to the question of whether the teaching of financial literacy within the specified range has the sufficient support in civics textbooks and textbooks specialized on financial literacy, while exploring the opportunities for educating teachers, who, in majority, have not met with this theme during their university studies. In-depth interviews with second grade pupils in the period before the start of systematic financial education, whose analysis fills the sekond part of the thesis, should diagnose the level of understanding and structure of their own ideas on selected economic terms. Comparison of findings about the structure of pupils understanding of content and methods of work available teaching materials should help identify potential bottlenecks or suggest appropriate procedures to financial education program for pupils better adapt. Financial education at the secondary school

The main goal of this diploma work is to create a concept of one-year two-hour seminars teaching financial literacy at high school. Its content is in accordance with the standards of financial literacy that were defined in the document " The system of establishment of financial literacy at primary and secondary schools ", and which have been implemented in the RVP of high school and secondary vocational education in 2009. In particular, constructivist approach is being applied in the teaching to whose implementation using appropriately chosen teaching methods that are designated in the methodological recommendations of Pedagogical Research Institute. Following teaching materials are drawn up for each thematic unit seminar (household management, prices and money, financial markets, interest and interest calculation, financial products, financial planning and consumer protection): the recommended sequence of intermediate tutorial, theme, tutorial, tutorial presentations, pupil outputs, input and output test. The other goal of this diploma work is a small research through a questionnaire with closed issues, whose main aim was to map out the teaching of financial literacy at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Possible ways of improving financial literacy of citizens by the non-profit sector

The title of my thesis is "The potential of non-profit organizations in increasing the financial literacy of citizens". The goal of my thesis is to analyze and evaluate the activity of non-profit organizations in increasing the financial literacy of citizens. It is also focusing on the relation between the government, the for-profit and the non-profit sector in the field of financial literacy. I divided my thesis into six chapters. In the first chapter I defined the research problem, set the goals of my thesis and defined the research questions. In the second chapter I focused on the methodology and the definition of my information resources. For the purpose of this thesis I chose the semi-standardized interview, the analysis of participants and the analysis of documents. In the second part of this chapter I made the review of the information resources which I used for this thesis. My thesis is based on the theory of "the triangle" of the market, the government and the civil society, the concept of the social accounting and the benefits and failures of the non-profit sector. Opršálová, P. Financial literacy as a prerequisite for mitigating negative impact of gambling. Bachelors thesis, Brno: Mendel university in Brno, 2017. The work dis-cusses utilization of financial literacy in the gambling industry. The reader is firstly introduced to the concept of financial literacy and its development and level in the Czech Republic. The following part of the thesis deals with gambling in general, the individual games, their history, regulation and possible negative impacts. The core of the thesis is represented by a questionnaire-based survey about the level of financial literacy of gamblers, together with an easily applicable guideline on how to utilize a higher level of financial literacy to avoid a negative financial situation caused by an interest in gambling.

The bachelor thesis deals with financial literacy of pupils at selected secondary vocational schools. It deals with the knowledge of secondary school pupils in the field of financial literacy. Knowledge in this area is important for pupils' future day-to-day life to improve their financial management skills. The bachelor thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to define the basic concepts, especially financial literacy, finance and fi-nancial literacy. The theoretical part is elaborated on the basis of specialized lite-rature using methods of compilation, description, analysis and synthesis. The aim of the practical part is to find out the current financial literacy of pupils. In the practical part of the survey was conducted by the method of questioning. The ob-tained data are analyzed and processed by basic statistical procedures. Based on the results, a recommendation for pedagogical practice is elaborated.
The education of the financial responsibilities on the second grade of primary schools

Bachelor thesis deals with financial literacy at the second stage of elementary school. Attention is focused on the evaluation of textbooks and workbooks available to teachers. The first part of the thesis is focused on the definition of financial literacy and key documents. Next part of the thesis is devoted to the inclusion of financial literacy in the framework of the curriculum and then to the specific School educational program. The last part is devoted to the evaluation of textbooks and workbooks, which are evaluated according to predetermined criteria from the relevant literature. Finally, the recommendations of specific textbooks and workbooks on the teaching of financial literacy are made. The thesis could serve as a basic orientation in key documents dealing with financial literacy. Current trends in teaching financial literacy for elementary school 2nd stage

The output of this diploma thesis is a teaching material for financial literacy classes at lower secondary schools. The content of the material is consistent with financial literacy standards defined in "Current trends in teaching financial literacy for elementary school 2nd stage". These standards are also implemented in the Framework Educational Program. The material consists of a theoretical background, set of problems and a suggestion of teaching methods.

The aim of this thesis is tomap financial literacy and attitudes to education in this area in different social groups and layers of population in the Czech Republic. At the theoretical level basic concepts of financial literacyare processed, as well as the factors that affect it and the reasons why people get into financial problems. The thesischaracterizes the general approaches and themes to address, monitors the role of the state in the promotion of furthereducation. The theoretical part of the thesis describes what typical features are present inthe education of pupils in this subject at schools in the Czech Republic. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is to find out,on what levelfinancial literacy is in specific population groups, and to analyse problems of financialeducation, and, where appropriate, to provide recommendations for educational procedures.As a basic method of the research,a questionnaire survey was used. The survey shall be implemented in the second stageof primary school.
