Delay Differential Equations in Dynamic Systems
A dynamical model for bark beetle outbreaks and its analysis
Dobrovolný, Martin ; Štoudková Růžičková, Viera (referee) ; Čermák, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the issue of bark beetle spread. A system of differential equations is used to describe the dynamics of propagation. The subsequent analysis of this system is then used to determine its equilibrium and stability. Another extension is to describe the behavior of two forests between which there is a beetle migration.
Stabilization methods for unstable solutions of the discrete logistic equation
Collection of solved problems from statics

The thesis is intended as a brief textbook for the subject Technical Mechanics I taught at the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. It includes the following topics: force and its torque, investigation of a system of forces acted in the same point of application, determination of resultant of two forces applied at different points, investigation of a general system of multiple plane forces, force equilibrium in simple technical applications, namely levers and beams. The theory is supported by examples with commented solution, in most cases both numerical and graphical. The work can be used by the teachers of the subject in lessons preparation as well as by students in self-education or in preparation for various exams or tests.
Assessment of the quality of handstand with correlation to shoulder joint stability
Provazník, Adam ; Chrudimský, Jan (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Assessment of the quality of handstand with correlation to shoulder joint stability Objective: The goal of this study is to find if there is a relationship between quality of handstand and two chosen parametrs - shoulder joint stability and shoulder joint flexibility in bachelor freshmen at UK FTVS studying programs Trainer, Conditioning trainer and Physical Education and sport. Methods: This is an empirical type of study. Tested group included 76 male students with average age of 20,22 (±1,02). Data were obtained by several tests, including test of quality of handstand, test of flexibility of shoulder joint, UQYBT and CKCUEST. For statistical analysis several methods were used. That inclued correlation analysis, Kendal test, Fligner- Killeen test, Shapiro-Wilk test and methods of descriptive statistics. Results: Statistically significant relationship was not observed between quality of handstand and shoulder joint stability, nor was observed between quality of handstand and flexibility of shoulder joint. The reason for the results could be low level of quality of handstand in majority of tested group. Key words: Equilibrium, balance, gymnastics, flexibility, stability of shoulder joint, quality of execution

Mythic structures and religious motives in the universe of StarCraft computer game series.
Michalič, Robert ; Kostičová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee)
The goal of this work is to provide the reader with an interpretation of races, factions and storyline of the Starcraft game series universe from the perspective of religious studies and to set its results into context of modern spiritual beliefs collectively called New Age. First part of the work analyzes narrative elements which are found in races and factions of Starcraft univerze and reaches the conclusion that through them the game operates with religiously relevant classification categories of purity and dirtiness, order and chaos. The second part utilizes these results in an analysis of narrative structures understood as relations and interactions between particular races and factions, and shows that categories of order and chaos/purity and dirtiness are functionally analogous to Victor Turner's categories of structure and anti-structure. Conclusion of this analysis claims that Starcraft thematizes the problem of one's oppozite's prevalence over the other. The third part summarizes conclusions of both previous parts, gives examples of order/chaos relations in historical religions and shows how narrative structures present these beliefs as problematic. Subsequently this work points out the identical beliefs celebrating the balance between opposites found in New Age, tries to explain the...

The influence of alpine skiing on balance
Volejníková, Nikola ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: The influence of alpine skiing on balance Author: Nikola Volejníková Objective: The aim of this work was to study the available literature, to characterize alpine skiing from its inception through biomechanics and physiological demands for skiers to characteristics of the individual disciplines. At the same time characterize motor skills in whole and focus on the main reference factor: the balance ability. The main objective of this work was to perform an experiment on two groups: experimental and control group. The aim of the experiment was to test the influence of alpine skiing on the balance and if there is the potentiality to improve the results of balance tests by only one week of intense skiing. The results of the experimental group were compared with the control group. Method: Measurement was carried out using the GymTop USB and one test for measuring static equilibrium. The main group consisted of 10 subjects selected from the participants of the ski-instructor course APUL "C" and measurement took place in two phases - before the course and after a week of intense duration of the course. An important criterion for the selection of subjects was their good health with no on-going acute musculoskeletal diseases. Only one year younger injuries were the reason for non-inclusion in the...
Energy cost of slacklining
Klaus, Jan ; Baláš, Jiří (advisor) ; Hráský, Pavel (referee)
Title Energy expenditure of slackline walking Objectives The aim of this study was to investigate the energy expenditure of slacklining in intermediate and advanced slackliners. Methods In this observatory study, 19 slackliners (10 intermediate, of which 7 men and 3 women, 9 advanced, of which 7 men and 2 women) completed experimental energy expenditure measurement of slacklining using indirect colorimetry. The MetaMax 3B metabolic analyzer (Cortex Biophysik, Germany) was used to determine respiratory parameters and the heart rate monitor (Polar Electro OY, Finland) was used to determine the heart rate (HR). Comparative statistical tools were used in the data analysis. Results Relative energy expenditure of 0,471 kJ·min-1 ·kg-1 was found in intermediate slackliners and 0,377 kJ·min-1 ·kg-1 in advanced slackliners in walking on a 10 m long slackline at a constant speed of 15 m·min-1 . In the static standing on slackline, the relative energy expenditure was found to be 0.368 kJ·min-1 ·kg-1 in intermediate slackliners and 0.289 kJ·min-1 ·kg-1 in advanced slackliners. The weighted arithmetic mean for HR in men and women walking on the slackline at 15 m·min-1 was at 67.3% of the predicted HRmax (220 - age for men, 226 - age for women). The MET value in the advanced group (n = 10) was set at 5.15, and in...
