Ecodesign and its present influence on the design of production machines
Kordula, Zbyněk ; Tůma, Jiří (referee) ; Zahálka, Jiří (advisor)
Bachelor thesis contains an overview of the legislation and measures directly affecting a mechanical equipment of ecodesign. Overview of the tools, which can be used in application of ecodesign. Options by which can to achieve save energy and save environment. Example of measurement and evaluation to consumption liquid and air when machining. Evaluating of ecodesign in present influence and his influence to machining construction.
Potential of energy production from waste
Putna, Ondřej ; Ferdan, Tomáš (referee) ; Touš, Michal (advisor)
The main topic of the bachelor thesis is creating energy from the incineration of waste. In the first part, the current situation of waste management of the Czech Republic and other states of the Europian Union is outlined. Then the thesis is focused on waste incineration in waste-to-energy plants and various approaches of energy efficiency evaluation are described. In the second part, energy efficiency with various modes of thermal and electrical energy production is analyzed, using the model of WtE plant. In conclusion, obtained data of energy efficiencies are compared with conventional energy sources.
Energy consumption analysis of water utilities
Bábíček, Michal ; Raclavský,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Ručka, Jan (advisor)
In the first part was an analysis of possible cost-saving measures to reduce energy consumption in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Part of the work analyzing energy savings for water treatment plant Bzenecis divided into three parts. Part one deals with a brief description of the individual technological units. In the second part of the individual technological units analyzed in terms of savings already realized by the operator and also in terms of savings that operators shall submit for consideration and possible implementation. The lastthird part summarizes the findings in the second part of the analysis and alsooutlines possible new solutions that are applicable to all objects of the operator.
"The Rebound Effect", Do improvements in energy efficiency lead to economy-wide reduction in energy consumption?
Stastny, Martin ; van Koten, Silvester (advisor) ; Chytilová, Helena (referee)
Improving energy efficiency is considered to be one of the means to successfully reduce energy consumption. At the same time improving energy efficiency implies that the real price for energy services will decrease and as a result will stimulate energy consumption whereas savings associated with higher energy efficiency will be partially diminished. This paradox is better known as the rebound effect. Additionally to a detailed definition of the direct rebound effect, this thesis establishes on the basis of existing researches that the price elasticity of demand for energy services plays a major role in terms of the extent of the rebound effect. Based on the triggers for the rebound effect, applicable policies are proposed and analyzed which can soften rebound effects - such as carbon tax, cap and trade system and standards and regulations. In this context most policies aim to increase the real price of energy services. This thesis concludes both that the existing energy efficiency policies are not adequately pursued and that energy efficiency technology should be fostered since it will also weaken rebound effects.
Cost-effectiveness of energy efficiency investments in the Czech Republic
Stárek, Michal ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Jílková, Jiřina (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to determine why there are set wrong conditions of public expenditure programs to improve energy efficiency in the Czech Republic. The thesis analyzes conditions of funding and planning of specific projects funded by the Operational Environment program. The main criterion for evaluating projects is the consideration of energy efficiency. Methodologically, the research is based on an analysis of secondary data and the concept of cost-effectiveness. Based on the analysis, recommendations are made for changes in processes and parameterization of public expenditure programs in order to take account of higher energy efficiency criteria in the design and selection of supported projects, and thus be the energy efficiency target for 2020 by 20% could be achieved.
The effectiveness of subsidies to reduce the energy intensity of enterprises
Navrátilová, Lucia ; Potluka, Oto (advisor) ; Sobotka, Ladislav (referee)
The thesis is devoted to assessing the effectiveness of subsidies spent on improving energy efficiency in the business sector. It analyzes the use of energy resources, international development in energy consumption and legislation focused on energy efficiency. Further, it analyzes two possibilities of obtaining funds for measures improving energy efficiency, subsidies and bank loans. There are given characteristics of the subsidy program Eco-Energy from the Operational program Enterprise and Innovation 2007 - 2013. In the practical part, the effectiveness of subsidies from this program is assessed by comparison of the supported and unsupported companies.
Method and economy of waste heat utilization at selected biogas plants
ZAJÍC, Pavel
The thesis is focused on economy and different ways how to use the waste heat which is created during combustion of biogas in cogeneration units. The utilization of residual heat enables to significantly increase the energetic efficiency of existing and newly built biogas stations. There is the description of the biogas station in Třeboň, Pleše and Kardašova Řečice and the technical and economic analysis of utilization of biogas in the place of heat consumption. These biogas stations have different methods how to use the waste heat. In Třeboň, there is this method: made biogas is transported by gas pipeline to the place where it is used. By contrast, the heat is used in the place where is created, but the heat is used for different purposes in Pleše and in Kardašova Řečice.
Application of sustainable practices of tourism development in hotel industry
Gerlová, Martina ; Indrová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Petrů, Zdenka (referee)
This thesis concentrates on sustainable development of tourism and application of these sustainable practices in hotel industry. The aim of this thesis is analysis of concrete practices of the biggest hotel groups in the world and outline appropriate trend in this field. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on certification of sustainable development in hotels. In the analytical part there are already analyzed concrete practices and approaches of the biggest hotel groups sustainability reports. The practices focus on energy efficiency, waste production, water conservation and production of carbon emissions. At the end of this analytical part there is sum up of these concrete practices and approaches and outline appropriate trend.
Trends in corporate IS - Green IT
Vojtková, Erika ; Basl, Josef (advisor) ; Gála, Libor (referee)
The theme of this thesis is one of the latest trends in IT -- Green IT. For companies implementation of green IT means not only acknowledging its responsibility towards society and environment, but also substantial financial benefits and improved public perception of their business. There are several motivations for companies to go green. Green IT initiatives are increasingly supported by the legislation and various standards. Different procedures and approaches to help companies in their transformation are developing as well. The objectives of this thesis include the identification of key players, the benefits and barriers to green IT, and new opportunities. The aim of this thesis is to bring a comprehensive view of the green IT trend and provide enough quality information to obtain an overall view of the green IT trend and a possible basis for deeper interest in the subject. Another objective is to analyze the frameworks used for the implementation of green IT initiatives in organizations. The achievement is approached through research and analysis, and information available in the literature, published reports and websites dealing with green IT were used. Thesis contribution lies particularly in analysis of green IT frameworks, within which there was evaluated their interests in terms of green IT waves, green IT objectives, their use in the process of implementation green IT solutions, their locus and other attributes.
