Postoje českých politických stran k problematice ukrajinské migrace do České republiky v souvislosti s konfliktem na Ukrajině
Syrovatková, Lucie
The thesis examines the attitudes of top representatives of Czech parliamentary parties towards the issue of Ukrainian migration to the Czech Republic in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. The main aim of the thesis is to find out what position political parties take towards refugees from Ukraine and how their attitude has evolved since the beginning of the conflict in February 2022 to September 2023. To fulfil this aim, an analysis of political discourse was conducted. At the same time, through this analysis, the most frequently mentioned themes in political speeches related to refugees from Ukraine are identified. The research shows that there are significant differences between the different parties, especially when it comes to the ruling and opposition parties.
Status of LGBT people in selected Central European countries
Eckhardt, Kryštof ; Jelen, Libor (advisor) ; Šerý, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis analyses the status of LGBTQ people in selected Central European countries through a discursive analysis of selected media and legislative sources. The thesis examines the development of the legal status of LGBTQ people in each state, and it also addresses the question of the impact of the phantom Iron Curtain border on the situation of LGBTQ people in each state. Through the research conducted, it has been found that in the last ten years there has been both an improvement and a deterioration in the legal status of LGBTQ people in Central Europe. Between 2014 and 2024, same-sex marriage was introduced in Germany, Austria and Slovenia, and the Czech Parliament adopted an amendment to the Civil Code in 2024, which will introduce same-sex partnerships on 1 January 2025, guaranteeing more rights for same-sex couples, including, in part, parental rights. The introduction of a similar registered partnership is expected in Poland after the change of government. Hungary is a country that has pursued a highly restrictive policy towards LGBTQ people over the past decade. The situation in Slovakia continued to deteriorate after the terrorist attack in Bratislava. Furthermore, the phantom border of the former Iron Curtain has been found to have enormous discursive power on the issue of LGBTQ...
Discourse Analysis of Czech Media in Connestion with Concept of Surveillance Society
Mikolandová, Anna ; Hrůzová, Andrea (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
This thesis deals with the concept of a surveillance society in the modern world and its representation in the Czech media. It aims to deduce the discourse of the domestic media on this issue and the narratives that form it. For this purpose, James Paul Gee's method of discursive analysis originating from the linguistic tradition is chosen. In addition to the texts, the visual representations that accompany them are examined through qualitative content analysis. The conclusions of the research are compared with the findings presented in the theoretical part of the thesis. The thesis focuses on the issue of surveillance and presents the key ideas and research that have shaped the emergence of the entire field of surveillance studies. These include texts by Jeremy Bentham, Karl Marx, Max Weber and Michel Foucault. Other contemporary theorists have then drawn on these, whose research is also the focus of the thesis, and present the dominant issues and current problems related to the main theme of the thesis. These include, for example, Gilles Deleuze's concept of the society of control, "new" surveillance by Gary T. Marx, dataveillance, i.e. the use of data for surveillance in Roger Clark's theses, Mark Poster's superpanopticon, the issues related to the use of CCTV camera systems addressed by Clive...

Černochová, Karolína ; Zápotocký, Jan (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The master thesis deals with the political communication of Jiří Ovčáček, the spokesman of President Miloš Zeman, on the social network Twitter. It analyses his communication during the two months, before and after the invasion of Ukraine. It focuses on tweets from the official profile @PREZIDENTmluvci (now @exPRESIDENTCR) in the period from 24th January to 23rd March 2023. It compares communication strategies, examines developments and analyses how they create a construction of reality, especially in the context of "We (The Castle)" vs. "They (citizens)". It also examines the relationship between political communication and new media, with an emphasis on social networks. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of political communication in different time periods and in the context of new media. The methodological part includes research questions, objectives, sample selection and methods of analysis. The analytical part of the thesis examines Jiří Ovčáček's communication as a spokesperson during the two months before and after the invasion of Ukraine. The first part analyses his communication before the invasion and the second part examines the first month of the ongoing invasion. These two months are then compared, and the evolution of communication is analysed. The thesis pays...
České politické strany a jejich pozice k European Green Deal
Kousalíková, Kristýna
The diploma thesis examines the attitudes of the Czech parliamentary parties to the European Green Deal - a new EU strategy for green growth, which is to make Europe the first climate - neutral continent. The main goal of this work is to identify the way in which parliamentary parties construct the European Green Deal. To fulfill this goal, an analysis of political discourse is performed. The results of the analysis are further embedded in broader environmental discourses, which were defined in the theoretical part of the work. By identifying these general environmental discourses, key assumptions are identified that influence the general way in which the parties view the relationship between society, the economy and the environment. The research revealed the existence of very different ways of constructing the European Green Deal by the Czech parliamentary parties and thus pointed out their different perceptions of the relationship between society, the economy and the environment.
Hybrid threats and national security agenda
DOLEŽALOVÁ, Šárka
Hybrid threats and the state security agenda are currently very much debated topics. With the continuous development of IT technologies and changes in military and non-military tactics, hybrid warfare is gradually becoming the dominant way of conducting modern conflicts, which take place largely in cyberspace. The national security agenda is closely related to hybrid threats, as it describes the functioning of the security system of the Czech Republic, in connection with both conventional and modern security threats. The objectives of this thesis are three in total, it involves obtaining information about threats in cyberspace, and how to counter these threats, and further analyze the emergence and spread of so-called fake news that threatens human society. Last objective is to describe the so-called information war and the competence of the government against the spread of fake news. The theoretical part of this thesis first deals with basic definitions from the areas of state security, state security system, hybrid warfare, cyberspace and fake news. The selected topics are related to the current situation and specifics in the Czech Republic. Next part of the theoretical part describes discursive analysis, as it is a method used in the practical part of this thesis. The practical part focuses on the discursive analysis of fake news from the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The basic article is about summary of several fake news and correcting them. For each fake news, there was an effort to find a relevant article from the Czech media and to find out to what extent the opinions in them coincide and how individual events are perceived in the Czech Republic. The resulting analyzes answered the question from the assignment "What effect do fake nws have on the state security policy?" How can we stop the spread of fake news?" And thanks to them, all 4 goals were met.
Central European Nostalgia and its role in creating the collective identity of Central Europe
Strejčková, Barbora ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Vykoukal, Jiří (referee)
This thesis analyses the phenomenon of Central European nostalgia through essays by Milan Kundera and Yuri Andrukhovych. It examines the ways in which the nostalgic imaginations of the Central European space contribute to the creation of the collective identity of Central Europe. The first part of the thesis outlines the historical context of thinking about Central Europe, which is then used in the analysis of the examined texts. The second part deals with the method of the analysis and the theoretical background, the theory of nostalgia. It maps the academic debate concerning both nostalgia in general and Central European nostalgia in particular. In the following analytical part of the work, the method of critical discursive analysis is used to examine for what purposes and in what ways the authors in their essays relate nostalgically to Central Europe at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and how they construct Central European space through this narrative. The thesis argues that although the nostalgia of Kundera and Andrukhovych differs in its manifestations, both authors set their homeland in Central Europe through their nostalgia. In continuity with historical thinking, they anchor them in Europe itself. Nostalgia in the examined texts acts as a counter-discourse, a resistance to...
