The master's thesis Ownership of media houses in the Czech Republic describes the current media landscape in the Czech Republic within the framework of major publishing houses with a significant impact and a wide portfolio of titles and further evaluates the coverage of the topic Gaining the trust of the government with the support of the KSČM using the method of analysis. The aim of the thesis was to describe the transformation of the ownership structure of media houses, which is currently almost entirely in Czech (or Czechoslovak) hands. Through analysis, it describes the possible motivation of contemporary media moguls.
Rise and Evolution of Online Journalism in the Czech Republic in Case of Online Daily iDnes.cz

This diploma thesis "Rise and Evolution of Online Journalism in the Czech Republic in Case of Online Daily iDnes.cz" considers an important and interesting period of Czech journalism after 1989. Specifically, it focuses on the origins of online daily iDnes and tries to describe history of Czech internet journalism on this example. The main attention is focusing principally on the first stage of daily's history: stage of planning (nine months in 1997), which is characterised with disbelief of publishing company Mafra and very cautious attitude to the plan, and first two years, which are very unusual for starting a professional medium. The authors of the plan intended from the beginning to work with the specific possibilities of hypertext space of the internet. But they had to count with a low budget and only two editors. Only two months were enough to see that internet daily can act as an independent part of the publishing company. The readers of early Czech internet used to visit the new site and iDnes became the most visited internet daily in 1999. Among others they appreciated use of new journalistic genres specific for internet space. For example: online interview and online report. Blesk - The History and Development of the Most Read Daily Newspaper in the Czech Republic

This master's thesis aims at the development of the most successful Czech tabloid journal Blesk. It starts with the comparison of Czech and foreign tabloids. Subsequently, it captures the history of Czechoslovakian and Czech tabloids from the First Republic until the present day. This thesis also deals with the journals that unsuccessfully tried to compete with the journal Blesk. Nowadays, the only remaining tabloid journal is Aha!, nevertheless it is owned by the same publishing company as the journal Blesk. Further, the thesis pays attention to the main personalities who helped to shape the form of the journal. It inquires into the development of the graphical shape of the front pages and it tries to interpret their symbolical message, both by the means of qualitative analyses. Alongside that, it deals with the editors and their influence on the development of the journal, its visual form, and the choice of topics on the front pages. The journal Blesk also includes advertisements, and this thesis focuses on that too.
Comparism of the Media Portrayal of the Karel Svoboda's death in Mladá fronta DNES and Blesk

This paper focuses on the medial image of the Czech pop music composer Karel Svoboda's death. It aims at comparing how this event was reported the so-called serious-minded newspapers and tabloids and finding out if the reporting was compatible with the newspapers' profile. The daily Mlada Fronta DNES was chosen as the representative of a serious-minded newspaper, and Blesk as the representative of tabloids. The composer's suicide filled pages of the newspapers weeks after his death. Karel Svoboda committed suicide in January 2007, thus the whole year is analysed. However, the period of three months after Svoboda's death is analysed in the most detail. Due to an intense medial attention, high popularity of Karel Svoboda, and the case of stolen pictures from the suicide scene, media are referring about the event to-date. Event though the period from the early 2008 to the present day (March 31st, 2014) is not particularly important, is also paid attention, albeit marginally. Effect of agency reporting on the contents of the newspaper sports Právo ang MF Dnes

The thesis "The Influence of the ČTK News Agency Content on Sports Sections of Daily MF Dnes and Právo" describes the influence of the Czech news agency ČTK on the sports section of two selected national newspapers - MF Dnes and Právo. The main objective of the research and a conducted two-week content analysis was to determine how individual editors work with the agency service. Another aim was to determine whether ČTK is still the main source of information for them, and whether there was something that had fundamentally changed its position. The thesis also examines the format of the messages produced by ČTK that appear in the newspapers most frequently. It also includes a questionnaire survey for editors of both media and basic analysis of photo journalism, which is an integral part of the sports sections. To complement the wider context of the theoretical part, the author describes the current battle of printed and electronic media, sport and commercialization processes of internetisation and digitization, which largely influenced the work of intelligence agencies.
Young people and its relationship with printed newspapers in the period of the new media

This diploma thesis named "Young people and its relationship with printed newspapers in the period of the new media" shows the way of treating the printed newspapers by the nowadays young generation within the Czech Republic. The thesis is based on the hypotheses predicting the tough situation and future position of printed newspapers. Concerning the experts' predictions the sole existence of the newspapers could be threatened by uninterested approach of young readers. The first part of the article shows the young people relationship to the printed newspapers as presented in selected international surveys and researches. The conclusions of these materials are essential sources used in my own further survey. As a part of the article the specific data presenting the situation of the Czech newspapers market are presented. It shows the printed newspapers decreasing demand which is significant as well as on the Czech Republic market. The methodology of the research is presented in the next part of the article. Presentation of the Czech Presidency in the daily Le Monde

Bachelor thesis "Presentation of the Czech presidency in the daily Le Monde" focuses on the analysis of the media picture of the Czech Republic and its representatives on the events taking place during the first part of year 2009. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the media content was used for the treatment of data, have been categorized into four levels. The first level is concerned about the Czech euroskeptic picture, after the Czech presidency is represented by its agenda and of course by domestic political situation in the Czech republic, too. The last level of this study focuses on the evaluation by the daily Le Monde and on the next presidency which started at that moment.
Medial Image of Seniors

The aim of the thesis is the most faithful interpretation of a senior´s image presented by media taking into consideration possible culture, political, social, alternatively other contexts jointly forming and affecting this image. During the data collection and their evaluation following research questions were taken into account: Do media information concerning seniors come under a typification and/or stereo-typification? Do the media correctly use terms "a senior" or "a pensioner"? Is it possible to discover an age-related discrimination in the media? To achieve this objective there was used a methodical support in a form of a content analysis of the most popular Czech dailies (Blesk, MF Dnes, Právo, Aha!) in the period from January 1st, 2010 to June 30th, 2012. The content analysis was followed by an interpretative part of the research based on the Glaser-Strauss´ grounded theory method. It was followed by a comparison and evaluation of the above stated methods using a categorization and a description of each of those categories arising from the research results.
