Analysis of Agrammatism in Aphasia

The thesis explores interdisciplinary collaboration between linguistics and speech therapy, focusing on impaired communication abilities - specifically, neurogenic disorders of speech communication known as aphasia. The aim of this work is to integrate linguistics and its effective application in the therapeutic care of patients with aphasia. The practical part is centred around the analysis of aphasic speeches, which are linguistically dissected in various language dimensions. Specific interferences and agrammatism are identified. This analysis subsequently leads to the creation of a model therapeutic unit, showcasing the significant applicability of linguistics in aphasiology. Title: The Role of an Occupational Therapist in Supporting Functional Communication for People with Expressive Aphasia Abstract: The bachelor thesis is theoretical and practical. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out what are the possibilities of supporting functional communication in patients with expressive phatic disorder by an occupational therapist as part of complex rehabilitation. The aim of the thesis is to find compensatory strategies and aids suitable for the development and improvement of self-sufficiency and communication functionality of patients with expressive aphasia, which will benefit both the patient, the client, and the entire interdisciplinary team. In the theoretical part of the thesis, aphasia is defined, its etiology and symptomatology are described. Furthermore, the classification of impaired communication skills according to the Boston Classification is presented. The theoretical part of the thesis presents individual areas of functional communication and the effects of phatic disorder on these areas. Perceived quality of life of people with post-stroke communication disorder

The bachelor's thesis, whose main aim of the research is to analyse the subjectively perceived quality of life of people with post-stroke aphasia in selected areas, is divided into four main chapters. The first three chapters present theoretical findings on stroke and post-stroke communication disorders. The following topic is the presentation of the issue of quality of life. The last chapter includes the research as such, which has been focused on retirement-age individuals diagnosed with post-stroke aphasia. The qualitative survey was done using the triangulation method, which contained a questionnaire method supplemented by a semi-structured interview. The obtained data were analysed and subsequently interpreted in the thesis text. Research questions concerning selected areas of quality of life were answered in the following part of the work. The impact of communication disorder on the social relationships of persons with post-stroke aphasia could be considered one of the most problematic areas of quality of life. Family and social context of the diagnostic therapeutic process for people with aphasia

The subject of this bachelor's thesis, which deals with one of the sub-fields of special pedagogy - speech therapy - is the provision of speech therapy prevention in kindergartens in the district of Klatovy. The aim of the work is to examine the provision of this prevention in the Klatovy region. The paper is divided into three chapters, while the first two define the theoretical basis of the thesis. With the help of professional literature, the topics of communication, speech therapy intervention with an emphasis on speech therapy prevention, speech development, preschool age or the most frequent types of impaired communication skills occurring in preschool age are defined. The empirical part analyses the data of a qualitative research survey conducted in the form of interviews with teachers in kindergartens. The work explores the course of speech therapy prevention, the cooperation of kindergartens with professional external institutions regarding speech therapy prevention, the tools used as well as the pitfalls in providing prevention. Diploma thesis deals with communication between persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals. The thesis consists of four chapters, three of which are theoretical. Research is included in the fourth chapter. Aphasia is defined and classified in the first theoretical chapter. The second chapter deals with a multidisciplinary team involving in the rehabilitation of persons with aphasia and with the individual role of healthcare professionals from the team. It also deals with diagnostics and the therapy of aphasia in acute, subacute and chronic stadium. Communication with persons with aphasia and its specifics are described in the third chapter. The main objective of diploma thesis was to find out how communication between persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals in healthcare facilities takes place according to experience of persons with aphasia and healthcare professionals as well. This Master Thesis deals with a typology of aphasia (Broca's, Wernicke's, conductive, transcortical-motor and sensory) and also with various variables that affect the type of aphasia. The thesis also deals with linguistics specifics of aphasia symptoms (circulation, perseveration, semantic and phonemic paraphasias, agramatism). In a practical part of the thesis, the symptoms of aphasia are observed in particular aphasic patients while their speech has been recorded. The diploma thesis is devided into two parts - the theoretical and the practical one. The theoretical part deal with contemporary issues of aphasia in the context of various scientifics discipline and aphasia access. I analyze aphasia classifications, diagnostics, therapy and using of the aids in aphasia therapy. The practical part describes my work - project and realisation of reeducational aid for people with aphasia, which name is Soubor sekvencí dějových obrázků. Case study of physical therapy care of patient after ischemic stroke

Title: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after the ischemic stroke Objectives: The main aim of this study was to verify my ability to work with the patient, his examination, making conclusions, proposed treatment and its subsequent implementation. Other aim was mapping of the literature on the subject. Methods: The first part of my bachelor thesis is theoretical and it is aimed on stroke. There are described anatomy of cerebral artery, knowledge about stroke, its clinical symptoms and treatment options in this part. The description of spasticity with its influence on therapy and its treatment and the techniques used in physiotherapy are also there. The Brocca aphasia is described in the last section. The second part is the case report of a patient P. V. with diagnosis: ischemic stroke with dextral symptomatology. This special part is based on two weeks' work with the patient in the hospital (Ústřední vojenská nemocnice - Vojenská fakultní nemocnice Praha). This work lasted from 9th January 2012 to 3rd February 2012.
