Martínek, Tomáš ; Kejhová, Eva (advisor) ; Weissová, Eliška (referee)
OF BACHELOR THESIS Author: Tomáš Martínek Supervisor: Ing. Eva Kejhová Title: The benefits of aerobic training in patients with chronic stroke Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the benefits of aerobic training in patients with chronic stroke. The work is processed in the form of a literature review and consists of a theoretical and a special part. The theoretical part first describes stroke, mainly from the perspective of epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment, with an emphasis on therapy options in the chronic stage. The second section of the theoretical part focuses on the characteristics of aerobic exercise, which is discussed from the point of view of physiology, the metabolism of aerobic and anaerobic activity, organism adaptation, and its benefits in medicine. The special part is based on the results of the literature review, which was focused on searching for current studies dealing with the use and benefits of aerobic exercise in patients with chronic stroke. The primary goal is to answer the question of what benefits aerobic exercise has for these patients. Secondly, it presents which types and parameters of aerobic exercise are suitable for use. From the results obtained, it can be stated that aerobic exercise has a positive effect on patients with chronic stroke,...
The effect of nordic walking on the physical fitness and emotional state of a group of women over 60 years of age
Peterková, Nikola ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: The effect of nordic walking on the physical fitness and emotional state of a group of women over 60 years of age Objectives: This thesis aimed to verify whether the given exercise program based on Nordic walking (NW) will affect the functional physical fitness and emotional state of a group of senior women. Methods: A total of 23 women with an average age of 68.96 years ± 2.92 participated in the research, and were divided into two groups. Eleven of them were part of the experimental group and 12 women formed the control group. The experimental group attended a 90-minute NW session once a week for 12 weeks. The Senior Fitness Test (Rikli and Jones, 2013) was used to repeatedly assess their physical fitness. The emotional state was assessed before and after the program using the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale. A visual analogue scale was used for assessment before and after individual lessons. Results: Upon completion of the 12-week exercise program using Nordic walking, the experimental group experienced a statistically significant improvement in all monitored parameters of the Senior Fitness Test, namely DKK strength, HKK strength, shoulder joint flexibility, dexterity, dynamic balance and aerobic fitness. As the summary graphs show, the improvement of the experimental group compared...
The effect of physical activity on human psyche and cognitive functions
Štětka, Martin ; Hora, Martin (advisor) ; Novák, Jan (referee)
In modern society, absence of physical activity is often related not only to physical problems (e.g. the development of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, etc.) but also to mental problems (e.g. depression, anxiety and mood changes) and cognitive problems (e.g. learning, memory and motor problems), which are associated with the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Physical activity appears to be an effective regulator of proper brain ageing and may serve as a preventive measure against the development of many diseases. Individuals who actively engage in physical activity show a slower rate of brain atrophy in advanced age. In addition to regulating proper aging, physical activity can act as a supportive therapeutic tool in the treatment of various psychological problems. This bachelor thesis also discusses neurogenesis, neurodegeneration, evolutionary perspective, types of individual movements, change in mental status after induction of physical activity and development of cognitive abilities of individuals. Keywords: neurogenesis, neurodegeneration, aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, depression, anxiety, learning, memory
Determination of exercise post-oxygen consumption (EPOC) following resistance training, and aerobic exercise
Galertová, Alena ; Petr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Sedlak, Petr (referee)
Oxygen debt repayment after completion of intense muscular activity reflects the significant involvement of anaerobic metabolism druring exercise. Some studies have reported an increased oxygen consumption even after 24 to 48 hours after strength training character, while after the activities of lower intensity (the aerobic exercise) is the oxygen consumption increased only in the order of several hours. In common practice, especially in the selection of the most suitable forms of exercise to increase energy expenditure in the general population, this is not usually a calculated factor. The aim of the thesis is the comparison of the energy expenditure by using indirect calorimetry and monitoring of selected individuals and at intervals after completion intense muscular activity and after aerobic exercise. The effect of aerobic training in patients with systemic sclerosis - literature review
Játiová, Lenka ; Špiritović, Maja (advisor) ; Heřmánková, Barbora (referee)
Title: The effect of aerobic training in patients with systemic sclerosis - literature review Objective: Main aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the effect of aerobic training in individuals with systemic sclerosis, to assess whether aerobic training has an impact on quality of life of these patients, and find out which methods are used to assess aerobic fitness in these individuals. Furthermore, the work is focused on summarizing the existing knowledge about the disease itself. Methodics: Thesis is written in the form of a systematic review according to the specified methodological parameters. Results: Studies have shown that aerobic training or aerobic training in combination with resistant training has a positive effect on the aerobic capacity of individuals with systemic scleroderma, the trend to improve quality of life was found in all studies and the methods used to determine aerobic fitness in all studies were cardiopulmonary stress tests. In the case of three studies, a six-minute walk test was also evaluated, the results of which were determined in two studies as the primary values for determining the effectiveness of training. Keywords: systemic sclerosis, scleroderma, physical exercise, aerobic exercise, aerobic training
Výživa u aerobního cvičení
Kalová, Veronika
The thesis deals with the available theoretical knowledge in the field of aerobic exercising. It describes the advantages and disadvantages of this type of exercising and it focuses on the importance of nutrition associated with it. The beginning of the thesis describes muscle activity including muscle itself, its structure and composition and it also describes the pulse importance. The thesis describes the most publicly known aerobic activities such as running, jogging, cycling or swimming. To properly handle the right diet during aerobic exercises it is also important to be familiar with the term rational diet. Therefore every chapter is based on general recommendations for individual nutrients up to the limits of professional aerobic sports.

Kopecká, Veronika ; Voráček, Josef (advisor) ; Pecinová, Markéta (referee)
Title of thesis: Women 60+ as a target group for providing commercial sport activities Objectives: The main aim of diploma thesis is a proposal of marketing concept for offering physical activities to target group of women 60+. This kind of conception will help to complete the business plan. Methods: For elaboration of diploma thesis is utilized a quantitative method a written questionanaire survey so as qualitative method as semi- structured interview to clarify and verify questionnaire survey. Survey is realized with target group of senior women 60+. For a market analysis is used a content analysis, based on content data of the Czech Statistical Office. Results: The results of the research showed that a significant part of the target group of seniors older than 60 years tends to live in an active way and is interested in improving the quality of life through physical activities. The results of empirical research made it possible to develop a marketing concept, on the basis of which the program Vital Woman 60+, specializing in seniors' exercises, was created. A significant number of respondents is beginning to take advantage of modern communication technologies, so the offer of an exercise program can be presented to potential clients both by traditional printed media and by e-mail.
