Havlásková, Anna ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Zrcková, Alžběta (referee)
The Bachelor thesis is focusing on the topic of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the process in the making of the politics, particularly the unapproved concept of minister Petr Nečas and the member of the parliament Michaela Šojdrová from 2009. At first the changes of the stance and the role of the father in the family from pre-historic times until present is described. Consequently, the specific types of supporting active fatherhood are introduced and compared with other European states - parents' benefits, paternity leave and sickness compensation. One of the suggested measurements, the so-called paternity leave, is programmed to support a functional family, the relationships in the family and to support the active fatherhood. As a part of the concept the paternity leave is analyzed with the aid Multi Stream Theory. The goal of the Multi Stream Theory is to find an explanation why some of the public policies are accepted and some of them are not. Various nonprofit organizations deal with the topic of active fatherhood, for example, The League of open men or Gender Studies. The goal of establishing paternity leave is to support a greater involvement of the fathers in raising the children, which leads to a better accessibility for women into the...

The construction of fatherhood in prenatal courses for heterosexual couples
Janoštíková, Markéta ; Baslarová, Iva (advisor) ; Ezzeddine, Petra (referee)
This thesis focuses on the area of prenatal preparation for men, who are seen as secondary in the area of parenthood. In spite of the still prevailing traditional gender division of roles in Czech family there are alternative forms, which give a chance not only for men, but also for women to choose between private and public sphere. For the purpose of this thesis a qualitative research of prenatal courses for heterosexual couples has been realized with the goal to understand and give a description of construction of fatherhood. The research focuses on the way of reproduction and discruption of gender stereotypes in connection with parenthood, especially fatherhood, and how men experience their new parental role - how they harmonize traditional and contemporary demands. Even though active fatherhood can not be considered as a prototype of western fatherhood, it is important to make it visible and speak about it, because the equal in the family is the first step for the equal status and opportunities for women and men in the public sphere.
The policy of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic in comparison with the Slovak Republic.
Češková, Eliška ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Vlčková, Kamila (referee)
The thesis deals with the active fatherhood policy in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The aim of the thesis is to compare fathers' involvement in childcare and active fatherhood policies in these countries. Then to map the types of measures to support active fatherhood that we can find here, their historical development and legislative anchorages in both countries. Specific measures are embedded in family policies. I am also interested in citizens' attitudes towards greater involvement of fathers in childcare. It is a comparison of two case studies (CR, SR), the current state of the policies is surveyed through expert questionnaires. The interviewees were experts on the area from both countries. The results of the research show us that, although the number of men receiving parental allowance in the countries is not much different, the Slovak Republic lacks the benefit of paternal postnatal care, which would mean a huge advance. In addition, family policy in the Czech Republic is more geared to a greater involvement of fathers, and a motivational bonus is currently being discussed to increase the number of men on parental leave. In the end, there are examples of good practice from Europe that both countries should follow.
The Life Situation of Fathers who Actively Participate on Raising their Children after Divorce
Trubetská, Marie ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Čampulková, Jitka (referee)
The main topic of this thesis is understating the life situation of divorced fathers, who actively participate on raising their children. As a group of interest I define fathers, who have reached joint custody. I try to understand their specific situation by making three half-structured interviews, during which I examine different spheres of their life. Because of the he lack of interviews I've combined this information with the data from online discussion for divorced fathers. To understand this topic in a more complete way I've also made interviews with two experts - Lukáš Talpa and one of the workers of the Authority for Social and Legal Protection of Children. The theoretical background of this essay is an active fatherhood and a life-course perspective. By thematic analysis I discovered a few mutual patterns. First of these patterns is disadvantaging fathers during the custody courts. This topic is very specific and hard to prove. Also, there are not enough expert studies, so I analyzed mostly my own data. Even though the experiences of the fathers are mostly negative, the experts claim that there is no global discrimination during the custody courts and the chances for men and women to achieve the after-divorce custody care they prefer are equal. Next of the common patterns is a...

Attitudes of Policy Actors to the Question of active Fatherhood in the Czech Republic
Hubáček, Miroslav ; Tušková, Eva (advisor) ; Nekola, Martin (referee)
Bachelor thesis deals with the topic of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic. The purpose of this paper is to describe attitudes of family policy actors and discuss possibilities to further support the concept of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic. At first, it identifies key family policy actors, whose attitudes are necessary to be observed. These attitudes are then identified using primary (expert interviews) and secondary data. The paper comes to a conclusion that even though notable actors problematize lack of involvement of fathers to the child care, we are presently in the phase of problem identification on the level of state subjects, such as Ministry of Work and Social Affairs and active fatherhood is currently supported especially by civic associations. Some degree of communication is ongoing only within The Government Council for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men. The reason why active fatherhood is not supported more is that a grand coalition of actors which would support active fatherhood through its shared beliefs has not been formed yet. It can be expected that civic associations will further support active fatherhood with their own projects. On the government level, active fatherhood is then connected with reconciling work and family life so active fatherhood is not...
