Use and Comparison of Selected Activating Teaching Methods by Attitude Questionnaire at the High School
Chvojová, Valerie
The central theme of the thesis is activating teaching methods, of which eleven were selected and used for its research. Specifically, these were the following ones: brainstorming, guided discussion, snowball method, inquiry-based learning, I.N.S.E.R.T. method, work with text, concept map, mind map, critical thinking method, rounds and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). These selected activating teaching methods were compared according to how the students evaluated them through attitude questionnaires, which is determined as the main aim of the work. Attitude questionnaires were created from the IMI (Intrinsic Motivation Inventory) tool. In the attitude questionnaire, the students evaluated the individual teaching methods in scales of interest/pleasure, perceived competence, effort/importance, pressure/tension and value/usefulness. In the scale of interest/pleasure, the snowball method was the best evaluated by the pupils, in the perspective of perceived competence also the snowball method, in the effort/importance scale the CLIL method, in the scale of pressure/tension inquiry-based learning and in the scale of value/usefulness again the snowball method. For further evaluation of the results, an index of subjective evaluation of teaching methods was created. It showed that the best...
Using STEAM in Teaching of Selected Topics in Human Biology at Lower Secondary Level
NEUBAUEROVÁ, Marcela
The aim of the diploma thesis was to create six original didactic games enriched with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) elements for primary school pupils and to test them in practice. Four didactic games were primarily created for the purpose of knowledge acquisition (skeletal system, muscular system and circulatory system topics) and two didactic games were created for the purpose of knowledge consolidation. The didactic games were tested in a mainstream primary school located in a South Bohemian city with a population of around 100 000. The validation in practice was carried out by means of a pretest, a posttest I and a posttest II. As a follow-up, selected students were assigned to independently develop their own games using the game principles they had been taught in class (using all STEAM elements).
Effectiveness of activation teaching methods in science education at the primary level of elementary schools
HLINŠŤÁKOVÁ, Anna
The diploma thesis is focused on the evaluation of the effectiveness of activating teaching methods in science education at the first stage of primary school. The data were obtained in two parallel classes, in which teaching with activating elements and teaching without activating elements took place. The total of 60 pupils from the 3rd to the 5th classes participated in the research. After evaluating the survey, it turned out that teaching units using activation elements appear to be more effective in acquiring new knowledge than teaching in the traditional way.

Geography and natural history curriculums integration for secondary schools - example of the living nature of America
Sovičková, Michaela ; Mourek, Jan (advisor) ; Blažová, Kateřina (referee)
Classical frontal teaching, where pupils are supposed to listen to the teacher and make notes is becoming stereotypical. Therefore I decided to focus on a topic where I can apply more teaching methods both in Geography lessons and Biology ones. The goal of this work was to create a teaching guide including necessary materials covering the topic of American natural lanscapes and afterwards to evaluate the contribution of these activities. The teaching materials were tested in two classes in The Basic School in Dolní Břežany. Both classes underwent a pretest, the first posttest (immediately after the experimental lessons), the second posttest (six weeks after the experimental lessons) and pupils also tried activities in which they had to apply their achieved knowledge. The data were evaluated using statistical analyses where the results showed a progress of gained knowledge between the pretest and the first posttest, whereas their knowledge did not significantly differ between the first and second posttest. It can be concluded that pupils broadened their knowledge, which was deeper than at the beginning and the pupils were able to retain this knowledge for a longer time. Key words: North America, South America, natural lanscapes, Biology, Geography, activating teaching methods, curriculum integration

The second part describes a selected topic of food chains. At the beginning, there is an enumeration of selected food chains from eight different environments. Furthermore, a suggestion for a teaching method, which complements the list of food chains, is presented here, as well as drawings of images, which have been created specifically for the purpose of the thesis. As a component of the second part of the thesis, there is an evaluation of a form, which has been presented to children electronically, since the suggested teaching method has not been practicable as a consequence of closed schools in the second half of the school year due to the coronavirus epidemic.
