Policy of Faith: Contribution to the study of the early medieval Welsh ecclesiastical history

Title: Policy of Faith: Contribution to the study of the early medieval Welsh ecclesiastical history Abstract The thesis studies the early christian church on the land of present Wales, specifically from the late antique practically to the beggining of 7th century. Analyzes in detail the whole ecclesiastical organization, its each of pillars and its influence on formation of the early medieval Welsh state units. Because it is a difficult historical period for a reconstruction, the thesis combines several theories, hypothesis and different researching methods. The first part analyzes the christianization of Britain in roman period and follows its eventual continuity in early medieval welsh society. In second part the thesis analyzes 5th century in Britain and follows turning points between the sub- roman administration and origin of the early medieval tribal structure and the insular christian culture. Third part follows the ecclestical structure in "The Age of Saints" (6th century) and so connected origins of some welsh kingdoms. Prophetia de duobus draconibus. Merlin's prophecies in medieval anglo-welsh conflicts

Diploma thesis Prophetia de duobus draconibus - Merlin's prophecies in medieval anglo-welsh conflicts deals with a political use of prophecies in a struggle between an English monarchs and Welsh princes. The most important among the prophecies are those revealed by Merlin. These include an interpretation of the combat between the red and the white dragon, which represent Wales and England. This thesis focuses on the character of Merlin the prophet, the medieval interpretation of the prophecies and their ultimate use in a political argumentation.
Comparison of referendums on devolution in Wales

The bachelor thesis "Comparison of Referendums on Devolution in Wales" deals with the process of political devolution in Great Britain, or rather in Wales with emphasis on two referendums on this question, which took place in 1979 and 1997. The main topic of this work is an establishing of a relationship between central British and regional Welsh government that culminated in the origin of National Assembly for Wales in 1998. In the first referendum Welsh people expressed a negative attitude to devolution and in the second one they changed their mind about it and voted for devolution. The main goal of this work is to explain basic facts that caused the difference between the results of referendums. This comparative work determines criteria and through the analysis of them it gains characteristics of both referendums in which people voted on founding of the National Assembly for Wales. In its major part, the work deals with the comparison of referendums on the basis of their descriptions. The attention is put also on the development of political situation in Wales, which preceded declaration of the first referendum. Types of governments in Wales and Scotland (1999-2016)

This bachelor's thesis deals with the types of governments in the regional areas of Scotland and Wales. The present work focuses on the period from 1999 until the present day. The period begins in the year of the first Scottish and Welsh elections for their new institutions. The thesis should primarily analyse the governments that have been elected in these regions. The main theoretical core is the Theory of coalitions, which is explained and then used for defining the types of the governments. The work will also focus on the electoral system which is used for the Scottish and Welsh elections and simultaneously deals with the impact of the electoral system on the party system. A very important aspect for analysing the types of governments, are the parties themselves and their ability or incapability of cooperation with other parties. These case studies should show which types of governments are the most common and find an explanation of this outcome. In the final part of the thesis, previous analyses of the types of governments are compared to determine similar patterns or contrarily to ascertain the most significant differences.
Labour Party and its internat structure after devolution: the case Welsh Labour

The thesis is focused on the analysis of national party organizational adaptation to political decentralization, specifically of internal change in the Labour Party. The main aim of this case study is to find the degree to which the devolution influence Labour party internal organization and strengthen the role of Welsh Labour. The thesis assumes a certain shift in the position of the Welsh Labour Party within the party structures, this change is placed in context of decentralization reform in Great Britain. Based on the defined factors, which are set out in the introduction, the thesis examines the changes in the party internal structure and the transfer of powers towards its regional branch - the Welsh Labour. The aim of the thesis is not only to find whether the decentralization reform had an impact on the internal party organization, but also to present other possible factors of this change and outline further possible research.
British Government relations with territorial offices in Scotland and Wales after 1998

The bachelor thesis "British government relations with territorial departments in Scotland and Wales after 1998" focus its aim on describing powers of government territorial offices Scotland Office and Wales Office, examine its relations with British government and the distinctions of their powers during devolution years. The main topic of this work is to analyse and describe the motives that lead to set those powers and resolve their changes. The case study is working with assertion that main cause to these changes is the political factor rising out of the centre therefore the work submits an analysis of government devolution acts and how these acts changed institutional framework and intergovernmental relations. In its major part, the work is focused on first and second devolution stage and deals with British government intentions in territorial departments. The attention is put on the roles of the Secretaries of States for Scotland and Wales, who in the nature of their posts influenced Scottish and Welsh politics but were also dependent on British government and their political parties. The bachelor thesis is dedicated to political, legal and cultural relations on the lands of the present British Isles in the second half of the thirteenth century and at the beginning of the fourteenth century. A person that is considered crucial for this period and the pivotal "point" of this thesis is King Edward I of England. The first part of this work deals with his life before his accession to the throne. Annexation of Wales is analysed in the second part of thesis as well as the means used by Edward and subsequent administrative division of the country. The third part analyses the situation in the lands of Scotland. The author scrutinizes hereditary succession of the crown and interference of the English King in the Scottish nobility disputes. Moreover, it analyses the beginning and the times during the Scottish war for independence and deconstructs the positions of the leading figures involved. In the last part of the thesis, the author analyses the political and social situation on the British Isles after the death of Edward I of England and the succession of his son, Edward II.
