Mental Health Applications and their use by University Students

Title: Mental health applications and their use by university students Author: Bc. Lenka Petrželková Department: Psychology Supervisor: PhDr. Anna Frombergerová, Ph.D. Abstract: This thesis focuses on the use of mobile apps to promote mental health by university students. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the difficulties that university students have in accessing these apps, the positive and negative aspects they perceive about the apps and the reasons that lead students to uninstall the app or not to continue using it. The theoretical section includes chapters on the development and classification of apps, the approaches used within apps, and maps the effectiveness of these apps, their benefits, and their limitations, including ethical limitations. Within the theoretical part, specific applications are also presented and analysed, which are then the focus of the empirical part of the thesis. One of the chapters is devoted to the mental health of university students. The empirical part used a mixed research design that included two research methods, namely questionnaire and interview. Patterns of use of psilocybe mushrooms among students of art universities and its influence on artistic creation

Background: Psychedelics are substances that affect the nervous system and have the ability to influence thinking, perception and feelings of the user. In the Czech Republic, psilocybe mushrooms are the second most used psychedelic. 5.7% of the population over the age of 15 used them at least once in their lifetime, and over 70,000 people in the last 12 months. Research shows that this hallucinogen has potential uses in medicine and psychotherapy, especially in the treatment of depression, anxiety or PTSD. In the past, psychedelics were associated with the phenomenon of psychedelic art, in which artists were inspired in their works by psychedelic experiences they achieved under the influence of hallucinogenic substances, which entails significant risks. Patterns of magic mushroom use among artistic college students have not yet been adequately described. The subject of the presented dissertation thesis is a description of the position of graduates and workers with environmental knowledge in the labour market, which is derived from environmental education at universities and the demands of companies for a new type of employees with an overlap into environmental contexts. The main objectives of the thesis aimed to determine the impact of teaching environmental and sustainable development topics and the influence of students' pro-environmental attitudes on their future career decisions. A further aim of the thesis was to determine the extent to which elements of the green economy are incorporated into corporate strategies, and whether a change in corporate strategy affects their demand for new environmental qualifications of the workforce. In other words, whether there is a demand for new types of professionals with an overlap into environmental contexts. The main research is divided into two parts and the research methods are based on both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The basis of the quantitative research represents a questionnaire survey at the level of university students studying fields with an environmental focus. The qualitative research is applied among businesses. The respondents are managers and other representatives of enterprises that can be classified as green economy. The method used for the qualitative research is Grounded Theory.
Cannabis drugs among students of Prague medical faculties: prevalence of use and related risk behaviour

Objectives : The main goal of this work is to find out prevalence of use cannabis drugs among students of medical faculties in Prague and also find out a relationship between cannabis drugs abuse and risk behaviour. Sample : The research sample consisted of 686 medical students First, Second and Third faculty of Medecine of Charles University in Prague. The main criterium for entry into the research was that students had to be enrolled in first through fifth year of medicine. Students of medicine sixth grade were excluded from research because of their limited time schedule, which related to their studies. Methods : Research was provided by quantitative methods - questionnaire, which was structured and anonymous Results : It was found that lifetime prevalence of cannabis use among medical students compared with the earlier results of different studies significantly increased. The prevalence of cannabis use over the past 12 months was higher in men than in women. It was confirmed that men on average achieve higher scores on the CAST questionnaire, which maps the risk behavior regarding the use of cannabis. How people know its products and promotion campaigns. The theory part is mainly about important definitions for my work. Attitudes and knowledge of Prague college students about beach soccer

Title: Attitudes and knowledge of Prague college students about beach soccer Objectives: In addition to the description of the Czech and world scene of beach soccer, the main aim of this work is to find out and compare attitudes and knowledge of students of Prague universities about beach soccer through a questionnaire. Furthermore, the thesis examines general knowledge of this sport, including basic rules. The last but not less important goal is to make recommendations for the management of beach soccer in the Czech Republic, which would help to raise public knowledge and attitudes towards this sport and possibly help to bring new active players. Methods: The main method that was chosen for this work is quantitative method - written questioning. Data was obtained by using custom questionnaire that was created just for this case. The content of collected data was theoretical knowledge of respondents about beach soccer and their interest in this sport. Results: Although Prague university students are aware of beach soccer, the results showed that they are not comprehensive and lack basic knowledge. On the other hand, in the future, an absolute majority would be interested in visiting the beach soccer event as a spectator or an active player.
