Contemporary Art as a Tool of Art Marketing of the City of Prague
Pilná, Barbora ; Dolanský, Pavel (advisor) ; Köppl, Daniel (referee)
Work Contemporary Art as a Tool of Art Marketing of the City of Prague aims to show culture not only as something saint and untouchable, but also as a very important part of a state economy, mainly in the framework of tourism. It deals with the relationship of culture and marketing, with the meaning of culture itself and with its role in the area of tourism. It looks into culture as the tool of the communication of Prague and looks critically at the contemporary situation of its presentation for tourists. There's no doubt that the presentation of Prague only through historical city centre is no longer enough in the competition of other cultural destinations and that Prague should think about changing and developing new strategy of communication. As the very tool of this change could work contemporary arts, which is used by many other cultural destinations around the world (Berlin, London, NYC), which Prague can also offer and which shows openess and a better place for life. The Prague City Hall has been financing those alternative cultural projects lately and by doing that has started to present Prague not only as a historical city centre, but also as a creative and dynamic place. This work discusses the reasons why The City Hall has been doing so, if on purpose or unconsciously, and by that tries...

Hoffmann was born to a Jewish family in Kolin, his mother tongue was German but he also spoke Czech well. He attended a grammar school in Prague where he soon became a member of a poet's society publishing in the journal Jaro (Spring) which was issued by Paul Leppin. At the beginning of the 20th century, Hoffmann leaves for Vienna where he begins to work as a journalist for the daily Zeit. There he makes friends with Stefan Zweig, together they translate Baudelaire's poetry book Flowers of Evil. While writing for the culture department of the Zeit, he has close contacts to writers from central Europe, to Arthur Schnitzler, Marie Ebner von Eschenbach or Detlev von Lilliencron. Matysová, Kristýna ; Hrbata, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kyloušek, Petr (referee) ; Hrbata, Zdeněk (referee)
Walking and writing the world. An approach to modernity in Bohemia and France from the beginning of the 19th century to the 1940's In Christian allegoric texts the Pilgrim traditionally symbolizes the journey of mankind to heaven. From the second half of the 19th century on, poets, travelers, and vagabonds pursued the quest of an afterlife from within city walls. This dissertation examines the different representations of modern wandering via an in-depth analysis of the theme as encountered in French and Czech literature and arts from the early 19th century to the 1940's. It reveals, in chronological order, the different artistic approaches to modernity. By bringing out the various patterns that emerge from the texts, while taking into account the historical and social contexts in which they were created, this work adds to existing knowledge on the cultural similarities between France and Bohemia. It also examines the different literary genres which originate from mankind's need to walk and write the world.
The beginnings of clubbing in Prague
Kazdová, Darina ; Vaněk, Miroslav (advisor) ; Houda, Přemysl (referee)
This piece of work was meant to be countinuous to my bachelor's thesis. In that essay I was dealing with the history of Czech electronic dance music in general. This time I focused just on Prague and surrounding area. The Czech capital was deeply influenced by presence of tourists. After the Velvet revolution, they were suddenly able to visit Prague. And as they they were already familiar with electronic music, they could help to spread it here. The situation in Prague is also compared with the rest of the world (western civilization). In the first part of the essay, I describe the qualitative research and the method I have used, which is the oral history. I also enclose a brief vocabulary of frequently used terms that are not very well known to the greater audience, I suppose. The last part is the analysis of the interviews itself. The interviews were done with important narrators.

Švec, Michal ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
in English The aim of this thesis is to explain the institutional setting of the political system of Greater Prague (polity) - especially the electoral system and institutional structures - and then in this located space realize real encounters and cooperation of political parties (politics). Working in its first chapter deals with the identification, evaluation or sources from which it is based. The second chapter briefly depicts the development of public administration in Prague and the creation of Greater Prague in 1922. In the third chapter, there are defined authorities, where the Prague municipal affairs usually took place, and their competence. The fourth chapter explains the functioning of the electoral system, which was an important determinant of the form of the party system. The electoral system with highly proportional effects allowed representation of number of parties (mainly arising from the cleavages in the society). The most powerful political parties, operating in the central council, are briefly introduced, including their prominent protagonists of the Prague City Hall. In the extensive sixth chapter, the results of municipal elections from the years 1923- 1938 are compared in time and space of the city. The observed territorial differences of electoral support are cartographic...
Housing prices in Prague- their developments and prediction
Petr, Adam ; Hlaváček, Michal (advisor) ; Rippel, Milan (referee)
The housing prices in Prague had risen by more than 63% between 2002 and 2008. However since August 2008, when they reached their peak, they have been almost constantly falling. Most of the publications regarding housing prices are taking into account Prague as one of the Czech regions. On the contrary, this work analyzes housing prices in Prague and its 22 districts. In first part of this work the indicators of rent-to-price ratio, price-to-income ratio and new building development factors are considered to explain possible future development of housing prices. This is seemed to continue falling during the year 2011. The second analytical part tries to explain the housing prices according to specific locality features and macroeconomic aspects. The panel regression is used and it reveals that the most significant attributes are the macroeconomic features.

Sevruková, Natálie ; Mourek, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
Key words: (Dugesia tigrina), ecology, bioindication, predation, Vltava, Prague The main goal of my thesis was the research of occurrence and ecology of planarians of the group Ttricladida in the Vltava River and some brooks flowing through the territory of Prague. The emphasis was given on the non-native North American species - Dugesia tigrina. The research can be divided into field surveys of population size and ecological requirements of planarians and a laboratory experiment, in which I have investigated the predation behavior of planarians. During my fieldwork, which took place from August 22th to November 11th 2009, I have found out that the Dugesia tigrina occurs only in the Vltava river, in six of the nine studied localities. During the research it was not found in the studied brooks. It chooses localities with a natural shoreline, deeper ground, rapid water and it lives in company of mainly Dugesia polychroa. It appeared at moderately polluted places. During the predation experiment, which ran from December 17th 2009 to October 20th 2010 at a temperature of 14 řC and triple repetitions in all mutual combinations of five planarian species, intraspecific cannibalism and frequent asexual reproduction of Dugesia tigrina was comfirmed. The experiment showed mainly preying of indigenous...
