Legalization of space mining from the perspective of utilization of geoeconomic tools on the case of Luxembourg
Kubecová, Tereza ; Doboš, Bohumil (advisor) ; Prášil, Matěj (referee)
This thesis focuses on the legalization of space mining and its impact on Luxembourg's geoeconomic instruments. It analyzes how Luxembourg uses specific geo-economic tools to strengthen its international position and economic independence through the space industry. Due to the growing interest in space mining, and its potential impact on global markets, the work focuses on the legislative, economic and political aspects that affect the implementation of these tools in the Luxembourg context. The main analysis draws on the theoretical framework of geoeconomics, which combines elements of international politics and economics, and applies them to the specific example of Luxembourg. The thesis examines how Luxembourg approaches instruments such as investment policy, trade policy, energy and commodity policy and others, whether it uses them effectively and what their future potential is. The results of this work indicate that Luxembourg is becoming a key player in the space industry due to its progressive legislation and the use of an investment policy instrument that attracts international partners and investors. On the other hand, the use of some instruments by Luxembourg is greatly limited by the fact that these are areas that are exclusively within the competence of the European Union. For example,...
Mining novel terpene synthases from large-scale repositories
Čalounová, Tereza ; Pluskal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Štáfková, Jitka (referee)
Terpenes and terpenoids represent the largest and most structurally diverse group of natural products, with applications across many fields, including the pharmaceutical industry. These molecules are synthesized in nature by enzymes known as terpene synthases. This thesis conducted a bioinformatic analysis of a curated database containing all 1125 experimentally characterized terpene synthases, focusing on identifying patterns in sequence lengths and domain architectures of these enzymes across different kingdoms of life. Based on this analysis's knowledge, sequence-guided mining was conducted to identify possible new terpene synthases. Using nearly 5.5 billion protein sequences from various large-scale sequence repositories, the mining resulted in the identification of more than 600 thousand putative terpene synthases. These putative terpene synthases mainly originate from Bacteria and metagenomes, sources that had historically been less explored. The resulting dataset, accompanied by a phylogenetic tree, sequence similarity network, and two prioritization scores, offers a valuable resource for the discovery of novel terpenes. Keywords: terpene synthase, TPS, mining, Pfam, SUPERFAMILY, domain, terpene
Modern trends in tunnel excavation using TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine)
Hlaváček, Josef ; Kašpárek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Zeizinger, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the current technology of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) and with the modern trends emerging in this focus area. The first part is devoted to a general description of TBM and the history of their development. The next part of the thesis deals with the different types of TBM and describes the way how they work and where and under what conditions they can be applied. The focus is also given to the comparison of these machines, distributed based on the environment they are designed for. These machines are as well compared with other tunnel boring methods. Subsequently, the application of TBM technology is analysed both on a global scale and within the Czech Republic. The thesis also discusses the frequency of TBM use in the mining industry and its possible potential in this branch. The last part is focused on the recent and possible future development of TBM.
Design of Mining Dumper
Tulik, Richard ; Paliatka, Peter (referee) ; Zvonek, Miroslav (advisor)
The main intent of the thesis is design of articulated mining dumper. The contet of own designed mining dumper respects technical, aesthetic and ergonomic requirements. The thesis brings a new perspective of design solution in category of currently the most powerful articulated mining dumpers.
Design of mining dumper
Foltýn, Jakub ; Pelikán, František (referee) ; Zvonek, Miroslav (advisor)
Mining and construction industry is due to its specialization an environment that provides opportunities for application of innovative approaches and solutions. Thanks to the increase of human needs, this sector meets the increasing demands. This thesis responds to the development of industry and solves the design of specialized field tilting vehicle for soil transport. It also has set an appropriate form to familiarize the public with the problems and demands, which this type of vehicle meet in practice.
Re Vision
Švehla, Jakub ; Šrámek, Jan (referee) ; Kögler, Žaneta (advisor)
In form of 3D animation the thesis depicts the steps of mankind towards the expansion of civilization beyond planet Earth. Chronologically it exposes essential moments of technological development (in major) preceding the journey for the distant planets. Images of today's state of civilization are combined with constructions of former theoretical concepts and with fully fictitious elements to form visuals illustrating the roadmap to extraterrestrial expansion.
Forensic Analysis of Cryptocurrency Mining Servers
Kelečéni, Jakub ; Grégr, Matěj (referee) ; Veselý, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the mining of cryptocurrency with emphasis on analysis of communication between miner and server. It describes basic principles of cryptocurrencies, mining and employed communication protocols. The next part of thesis is about design and implement modification of existing system (catalogue). This modification will add temporality to the catalog, what increase reliability of stored metadata. Description, functionality and purpose of existing system is included in the next text.
Design of a unit for utilization of waste heat from a computing system
Valachovič, Filip ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Chýlek, Radomír (advisor)
Global warming and the associated high energy costs are considered as the main problems at presents. As a result, there is an interest in reusing waste energy. This bachelor thesis is devoted to the design and assessment of the potential use of waste heat generated by the systems for the mining cryptocurrencies. The first part of the work deals with the process of mining cryptocurrencies as a whole and their energy consumption. The work, among other things, deals with the possibilities of cooling and subsequent recovery of waste heat from these systems. Part of the work is a theoretical design of a unit for waste heat recovery from mining rigs, considering immersion cooling with the resulting economic balance.
Main Text Extraction from Web Documents
Mrózek, Daniel ; Burget, Radek (referee) ; Bartík, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis deals with the main text extraction from the web documents in HTML format. It describes some methods that are already used and their separation. The goal of the practical part is to propose an algorithm for main text detection in HTML pages using primarily text features in combination with position features. Block classification is solved by multilayer perceptron. It also describes implementation of the proposed algorithm, the testing procedure and presentation of the obtained results.
Landscape of mining
Frič, Miloslav ; Ryška, Pavel (referee) ; Vaněk, Vojtěch (advisor)
The landscape of surface mining is a visual play that expoits the land on this large format drawing. My work investigates the limits of hanged art piece through the use of video projection and camera. The spectator is not limited by a clear thought framework but urged to experience a visual experience in this very place and time.
