ODA as an actor in the formation of the right and Czech conservatism
Brožová, Karolina ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Franěk, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this thesis will be to characterize the formation of Czech conservative and rightwing thinking in political practice, which seemed to be something completely unimaginable in the communist environment of the time. Although the roots of Anglo-Saxon conservatism go back to the 18th century, it is difficult to define it as a modern ideology at this time. Its meaning has evolved and changed over time, but in some ways it could be said that the basic principles of conservatism have survived to this day. In this thesis, I will primarily reflect on values such as freedom, equality, property, tradition and morality because it is these values that the ODA, as the primary actor with which this thesis is primarily concerned, drew upon in a society shaped by communism and the vision of socialism as the only possible path for the emergence of rightwing politics.

The thesis also presents a case study of church restitutions, in which the phenomenon of the fact that the KDU-ČSL becomes a political party protecting the interests of the church in the form of the return of church property confiscated by the communist regime is presented. The thesis focuses on the efforts of the KDU-ČSL leading to the approval of the return of church property, which, ironically, is returned in a period in which...

Žižková, Silvie ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Hájek, Lukáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the degree of fulfilment of verifiable promises from the election programmes presented to the Czech citizens in the 2017 elections to the Chamber of Deputies. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the rate of fulfilment of promises by all political parties that entered the parliament in 2017. The analysis examines the rate of fulfilment of promises in the last completed electoral period, i.e. between 2018-2021, when the second government of Andrej Babiš was in power. The aim of the paper is to present the results of the analysis to the readers and to find out the different rates of fulfillment of the coalition and opposition parties. The results of the analysis have shown that in the Czech environment, coalition parties do not fulfil fundamentally more promises than opposition parties. The highest rate of fulfilment of promises was shown for the ANO party, which held the prime minister's seat at the time of the mandate and fulfilled 42% of the testable promises. However, the opposition party, Starostové a nezávislí (the Mayors and Independents), had the second highest rate of promise fulfilment with 41 %. The coalition fulfilled 41% of the promises and the opposition fulfilled 28% of the promises overall, with the results affected by the SPD's zero fulfilment rate. The...

Štamberk, Ondřej ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the application of selected classical theoretical concepts on the example of the Christian Democratic Union - Czechoslovak People's Party to assess the extent to which these concepts are relevant in today's political science research. Theoretical concepts are introduced in the first chapter of the theoretical part. The second chapter offers a summary of the historical development of Christian Democrats from their foundation to the last parliamentary elections in 2021. In the practical part, the theories are applied to the KDU-ČSL, and the following chapter further introduces and analyzes electoral results of the party during the existence of the Czech Republic, as well as its electorate. The aim is to find characteristic patterns that are unique in the case of KDU-ČSL compared to other Czech political parties and to answer why this is the case and what consequences for further development it has for this party. As a result, I managed to apply all the theories presented and come up with new points and characteristics concerning the development of election results and the KDU-ČSL voter base. Euroskepticismus v České republice
Gřešák, Dominik
Eurosceptic ideas in the Czech Republic (hereinafter the “ČR”) began to spread more especially since the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and they strengthened with increasing global problems, which did not help this sentiment in any way. Negative politicians' opinions regarding the EU may eventually undermine the confidence of Czech citizens in the EU and therefore have an impact on the overall relationship of the ČR with this European political-economic union. The thesis will offer a list and analysis of specific Eurosceptic topics in the ČR. The research will examine the current political situation in the ČR in relation to Euroscepticism, and its results will reflect on how Euroscepticism is manifested in the political discourse of the Czech political parties that were, in the 2017 parliamentary elections, elected into the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament. The thesis will analyze the Eurosceptic situation in the ČR at the political level in 2018 and will focus on the negative references regarding the EU, which were mentioned by the above Czech political parties.

Crisis of the KDU-ČSL? Analysis of the evolution of the party during the period 2009 - 2013
Neugebauerová, Aneta ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the analysis of KDU-ČSL during the period from 2009 - 2013, when for the first time since its formation in 1919 this political party failed to obtain representation in the lower chamber of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. This representation was re-established in 2013, which is also a very unique phenomenon. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the development and changes within KDU-ČSL during this period using the official party documents and standardized interviews with selected members of KDU- ČSL. This information will allow me to come to a thought-out conclusion whether this period can be characterized as a crisis or not.
