History of the Slavonic Monastery during the Hussite and Utraquist Period

Michal POHUNEK, History of the Slavonic Monastery during the Hussite and Utraquist Period. Praha 2022. Doctoral dissertation. Abstract History of the Slavonic Monastery during the Hussite and Utraquist Period is a systematic and critical dissertation on the history of the Slavonic Monastery in the New Town of Prague and its monastic community in the period 1419-1471. For a deeper understanding of the events of the period, the research also considers the context of the events which occurred before and after this period and examines the relationship between the monastic tradition of the Order of Saint Benedict and the reforming spirit of the Hussite movement in fifteenth century Bohemia. The study examines the character of the mass liturgy performed at the monastery at the time and discusses the local monastic community's loyalty to monastic ideals and its relationship to radical movements in the fifteenth century. The community's relationship to the monastery's immediate surroundings is also discussed, and a general historical overview of the period is given, including a chapter on the movements and fate of the famous Reims Gospel.
The problems of plunder in the first half of the 15th century

The main subject of the bachelor thesis is the aktivity of bandit and footpad groups. The thesis is structured as a study of a specific era the first half of 15th century in Moravia. The study is carried out by analyzing the lifestyles of their dividual members and thein connections to thein leaders. The thesis describes the typology of criminal behavior based on the number of cases mentioned in the sources and researches the relations between the bandit groups and higher nobility. The author is analyzing the structure of the sources and several approache show to work with those sources. She is trying to describe the issues as a komplex social, political and legal problem of that time.
History of the Theological Faculty in Prague: From its foundation until 1419

This diploma thesis focuses on the history of the faculty of theology in Prague from its foundation in 1347 until the outbreak of the Hussite revolution. This thesis first maps the assumptions of the establishment of general teaching in Prague and the founding act of Pope Clement VI. and Emperor Charles IV. Subsequently, the beginnings of teaching at the faculty of theology and its institutional development until 1419 are described. Special attention is paid to the issue of the papal establishment of the faculty, the organization of studies and the role of the Archbishop of Prague as the university chancellor. The internal difficulties of the faculty and the placement of the faculty of theology in the context of the history of Charles University are not neglected either. Methodologically, the work is based on a comparison of literature, and analysis of sources.

Reformation. Conditions of its rise and common features of reformations' growth.

The thesis traces the beginnings of these reformation movements: Waldensians, Hussites, Unity of Brethren, Lutherans and Anabaptists. It also deals with the situation in Roman Catholic church since all the movements spring out of it. Furthermore the author is answering the question whether these movements have a common denominator, that links them together. Iconographic motifs in František Bílek's work

Kamila Matějková: Ikonografické motivy v díle Františka Bílka Abstract The bachelor thesis "Iconographic motifs in the František Bílek's work" is dealing with František Bílek's work, from the iconographical point of view in particular. It divides Bílek's work into thematic groups according to the basic iconographic motifs and attempts to determine from what the author is based. First, the situation of Czech art at the end of 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century and the place of František Bílek's work in that environment is outlined. After that, the attention is focused on Bílek's relationship to art and his individual spiritual conception. Further Bílek's artistic means are explored. The main part of the thesis is focused on the analysis of particular iconographic themes which are present in František Bílek's work. The motif of Christ, the motif of the Virgin Mary, Old Testament motifs, human motive, tree motive and national themes (Hussites, the Unity of the Brethren) are gradually followed. At the end of this work the attention is paid to motifs which are influenced by Otokar Březina's literary work.
Economic thoughts in works of Petr Chelčický

This study refers to Czech fifteenth century thinker Petr Chelčický, which is considered to be one of thinkers from times of Hussite revolution. However his thoughts refer to Hussite movement and come out from their main ideas, his original convictions stand quite along hussite mainstream. The study also points to whole Hussite movement and Hussite revolution in Bohemia in fifteenth century, as to period before as well. Also study refers to strange life of Petr Chelčický and evolution of his thoughts through Hussite revolution. The aim of the study is to find out any economic thoughts in main works of Petr Chelčický.
