French in Czech republic The work is divided into two parts. The first part presents the French emigrants abroad and in the Czech Republic. It also presents the Czech emigrants in France. This part outlines the history of Czech-French relations. It describes the French group in the Czech Republic from the demographic and social point of view and in the background of the Czech society. In the other part I focus on research. Based on the results of several interviews the second part analyses and interprets some particular themes. The themes are concerning cultural and social life of the French who live in the Czech Republic and give testimony about it.

Title of the thesis: Daniel Essertier from the Czech point of view This work is dedicated to the life and work of Daniel Essertier (1888-1931), French philosopher and sociologist, who was sent to Prague in 1920 by the French Government to become a professor at the newly established French Institute, at that time a major French cultural institution in former Czechoslovakia. The aim of this work is to research thoroughly as much detail as possible so as to reconstruct the life of this gifted thinker whose life was ended by a tragic accident. Therefore upon reporting his scientific activities, the thesis will then reconstruct the untreated fraction of the history of the French Institute in Prague and the Czech-French relations. Transformations of Czech-French bilingual sections in the Czech Republic from 1990s to present

Shortly after the end of communist regime, four Czech high schools opened French classes. These so-called bilingual sections could have been founded thanks to resumption of Czech-French relation after they were silent for more than 50 years. Support of this special school programme reflected the intensity of bilateral cooperation in the field of culture and education. However, in the present day it can be observed that bilingual French sections do not receive same amount of support and interest. In addition, their condition is not equivalent to state of their founding. This bachelor thesis focuses on the evolution of these sections and aims to analyse, which are the crucial changes from the beginning 1990 to this day that made an impact on them. The introductory of this paper presents the historical context. First chapter is dedicated to transformation that took place in France. In particularly it focuses on new approach to cultural diplomacy, that caused decline in interest for Czech Republic, and revaluation of amount of investment that goes to bilateral educational cooperation. France's Role in Forming the Czechoslovakian Elites (1900 - 1950)

This work seeks to answer questions concerning the role France played in shaping the Czechoslovak elite in the first half of the 20th century. The study rests on three basic pillars. The first is a study of the framework in which Franco-Czechoslovak relations developed in the area of culture, cultural and educational policy. The second pillar is the question of France's direct involvement in Czechoslovakia - by means of solid structures created in connection with the establishment of the new state, and with the development of active French cultural policy after 1918. On the one hand, the French Institute in Prague, which, in the period under study, wanted to be more than a mere cultural centre, its ambitions primarily concerning scientific cooperation (language, philosophy, history, law, medicine, economics, chemistry, technical disciplines). On the other hand, the French Real Grammar School in Prague, the example of which gives a very good study of the competitive limits of cooperation between the two countries in the field of secondary education.
