DAVIDOVÁ, Lucie
The thesis addresses the effective inclusion of gender and feminism issues into education. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the basic concepts of gender and feminism, their development, and current issues - mainly targeting the topics of gender roles and stereotypes in society, feminized positions, and the issue of gender pay-gap. The following part of the thesis focuses on the area of the Czech education system and tries to answer these associated questions: Are some of the mentioned stereotypes applied in Czech education? How does gender-sensitive education work? How is feminism viewed within Civic Education? The practical part of the thesis is then devoted to the application of the theoretical knowledge and shows the model lessons addressing the topic of feminism and gender, included in the curriculum of Civic Education. These lessons were used in lessons of Civic Education at the EDUCAnet Grammar School České Budějovice s.r.o. Prior to the implementation of these lessons, students filled in a questionnaire focused on the topic of gender and feminism. After completing the lessons, a reflection on the effectiveness and their impact on the students was conducted.
Reproductive system in Human biology lessons at secondary school
NAVRÁTILOVÁ, Adéla
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of teaching the human reproductive system at secondary schools both in the Czech Republic and in selected German federal states, Bavaria and Saxony. The aim was first to discover the differences in teaching the reproductive system among the chosen countries and secondly to create own teaching units regarding this topic and utilize them in classes. The differences between Czech, Saxon, and Bavarian types of teaching were supported by curricular documents and a questionnaire distributed among teachers from selected countries. Czech curricular documents outline the teaching of the reproductive system more briefly compared to the German ones. The questionnaire provided specific information incorporating the methods used in teaching. Furthermore, this diploma thesis contains two fully designed teaching units, including both materials for students and methodological instructions for teachers. The practical implementation of the proposed teaching units is evaluated at the very end of this thesis.
Možnosti užití ICT ve výuce biologie člověka na střední škole
STRNAD, David
The integration of modern technologies (ICT) into the educational process has recently been a world-wide trend that reflects the rapid development of these technologies, as well as the needs of the young generation. Digital literacy is not only an important skill, but also a requirement of the society today. The implementation of ICT in teaching then depends not only on material requirements, but, above all, on the digital competencies of teachers and pupils. This work, therefore, deals with the possibilities and opportunities that technology brings to the teaching of human biology at secondary schools in both the full-time and distance learning modes, and the views of students and teachers on its use. The mixed research, which involved 22 teachers and 110 pupilss, was conducted as semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire survey. The design of a teaching unit with ICT elements on a selected topic in the field of human biology, its implementation, and evaluation is also a part of this work.

Kunzik, Nicole ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Hanley, Seán (referee)
1 As more media continues to become available, there is an ever-growing need to consider how certain technologies and media messages affect users and society overall. The aim of this dissertation is to develop an understanding of media literacy in the Czech Republic and to investigate its significance within education, particularly teacher education. The research methods adopted for this study include an in-depth review of relevant media literacy literature, coupled with interviews from Czech Pedagogical Faculty members, and analyses of Czech national policy and university curricular documents. The findings from this work show that the main benefit of media literacy in primary and secondary schools is a non-hierarchical learning environment that encourages discussion, interaction, and critical thinking amongst students. Additionally, current media education policy in the Czech Republic is found to be ineffective. The main conclusion is that with more required media literacy courses or even a national standard for media literacy in teacher education programmes, the Czech Republic could improve teaching methods and present policy.

Švábová, Kristina ; Mouralová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Černý, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the phenomenon of the so-called "free schools" in the Czech Republic. These schools practice the principles of free schooling which has a long tradition abroad in schools, such as Summerhill School or Sudbury Valley School. However, in the Czech Republic these schools have only now begun to emerge and as such have not been thoroughly studied, yet. This thesis is a case study of two Czech free schools. It describes how the schools' values manifest in the school documentation and, using the theory of accountability, it explores how the values are harmonized with the expectations of other actors, chiefly the Czech School Inspectorate. It is found that the Czech education system is open to many of these values. Nevertheless, in some areas disputes arise. The full realization of the values is hindered especially due to compulsory school attendance, statutory requirements in the curriculum and evaluation. In the thesis, the actors' attitudes towards the Czech education system are explored, as well. It is discovered that each school has developed its own approach. One of them takes a 'pessimistic' stand as the school employees do not believe a consensus with the state is possible, whereas the other one is more 'optimistic' and...
