Dančíková, Marcela ; Raudenská, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Jirkovský, Daniel (referee)
The bachelor's thesis looks at how Locus of control, spirituality and religiosity affect health and chronic pain. The theoretical part deals with the issue of pain, with emphasis on pharmacotherapy. The terms Locus of control, religiosity, spirituality and their effect on physical, psychological health and pain are explained, including an overview of methods to measure the listed 3 domains. It also focuses on linking the relationship of religiosity, spirituality, Locus of control, quality of life and emotional experience in people with chronic pain. Objectives: The aim of the empirical part was to identify differences between individuals with external Locus of control and internal Locus of control in sociodemographic, religiosive, clinical and affective variables, and how the locus of control predicts the variables. Methods: It involved 43 patients with chronic pain who were hospitalized at the Clinic of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine 2. LF UK and FN Motol. We were interested in sociodemographic data, including pain data, where intensity, discomfort and pain duration were included. The VAS scale was used to measure intensity and discomfort. We have used the LOC scale to determine whether an individual is an internalist or an externalist.Furthermore, questionnaires from GHLC, DUREL, FPQ-III,...

Use of yoga's principles in patients with chronic pain
SCHAFFERHANSOVÁ, Petra
This bachelor thesis focuses on chronic pain and its treatment by yoga techniques. First theoretical part of this thesis inquires mostly pain itself. Its definition, physiology and classification are described, as well as different factors, which influence perception of the pain. Back pain, which is most usual among chronic pains, is also closely inspected. Treatment of the chronic pain and its different types - pharmacology, psychotherapy and rehabilitation procedures are part of this chapter as well. Second theoretical part's focus aims exclusively on yoga, its principles, styles and rules while practicing yoga. The characteristics of yoga poses for relaxation, which are very important for people dealing with chronic pains, is also included. Last part describes yoga's influence on human organism. Major part of this thesis is formed by quality research which goal was to evaluate applying yoga's principles on three patients with chronic pains. Case study involved initial examination, eight weeks of yoga practices included in treatment and final exit examination. Changes observed during sessions with patients and examinations were compared and evaluated.

Somatognostic functions and spatial memory in patients with failled back surgery syndrome
Křikavová, Alena ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Petrová, Naďěžda (referee)
Aim: The aim of this thesis is both evaluate a somatognosis quality and consider rate of personality dimensions in patients with FBSS. Methods: 30 patients with FBSS and 25 probands of healthy control group were examinated in laboratory of spatial cognition called Blue Velvet Arena. They underwent spatial navigation task and body scheme tests. We made comparative analysis of these measurements between groups. We evaluated personality dimensions in patients group, by using NEO personality inventory and Petrie test. Finally we consider relationships of these variables and another related factors. Results: Signicant difference between patient's group and control group was found both in spatial navigation task and body scheme tests. In spatial navigation task control group had lower results compared to the patient's group. In body scheme tests was found reverse results. We found high correlation of body scheme with age, pain duration and activity level. There was high percentage of underestimating probands and probands with high score of conscientiousness. Error rate (judgement out of tolerance zone) was higher in patient's group compared to the control group. Conclusions: Our results states that patients with FBSS have lower quality of somatognosis in light of body scheme. We hypothesise, that body...
Life Satisfaction And Pain
Waldmannová, Alice ; Raudenská, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Jirkovský, Daniel (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of pain on life satisfaction. It is divided into two parts - part theoretical and part empirical. In the first part I define basic concepts such as pain, painful behavior, anxiety, fear, life satisfaction, concept of life satisfaction, happiness. What are the differences in approach and quality of life in patients with chronic long-term illness, compared to volunteers without pain. I tried to describe the differences between anxiety and fear that are often confused with each other. At the end of the theoretical part are described methods of evaluation of fear of pain. In the empirical part is a quantitative research, which focuses on the detection of the intensity of the pain of fear in patients with chronic pain depending on gender, age and their current pain. Differences in the use of strategies to deal with fears between men and women are also being explored. Three questionnaire methods were selected - the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (DOS), the Fear of Pain Questionnaire (FPQ-III) in the Czech version, The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). To measure pain intensity, the VAS numerical scale was used. Questionnaire survey was attended by respondents of Motol University hospital and healthy controls.
Prevalence of myofascial trigger points in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Vítek, Jiří ; Čech, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Procházka, Michal (referee)
Bibliography VÍTEK, Jiří. Prevalence of myofascial trigger points in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Prague: Charles University, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, 2014. 98 p. Supervisor Zdeněk Čech DPT Abstract Objectives The main objective of this bachelor thesis is a pilot study to analyse the prevalence of myofascial trigger point ( MTrPs ) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods The total number of 37 patients was examined. The patients were divided in three groups: 1) patients with rheumatoid arthritis, 2) patients with any other rheumatoid disease and 3) hospitalised patients without any rheumatoid disease. We monitored the frequency of typical clinical signs of MTrPs - taut band, spot of tenderness and a local twitch response in 18 selected muscles. Results It was confirmed that in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, age does not correspond with the number of myofascial trigger points. These assumptions were not confirmed: different prevalence of MTrPs in patients with RA compared to both control groups, the decreasing prevalence of MTrPs corelating with progression of RA, the effect of biological treatment on the prevalence of MTrPs, presence of acute inflammatory joints on the prevalence of MTrPs, the impact of sleep disorders on the...
Body schema and spatial orientation patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
Kšírová, Julie ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Petrová, Naďěžda (referee)
This diploma thesis summarizes recent knowledge about body scheme, spatial orientation and their change in context of chronic pain. The purpose of this work is to find out if chronic pain negatively affects the body scheme and spatial orientation. The thesis includes a comparative analysis of experimental measurements between the patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome and healthy control group. The analysis compares tasks based on spatial orientation and body scheme tests. Results show the patients' group having lower results in body scheme related tests, showing a noticeable disparity compared to the control group's test scores. These results were further supported by portion of spatial orientation based tasks, where patients' group again performed at significantly lower level than the control group. In conclusion, our thesis, along with other academic works, states that there is a correlation between chronic pain, disrupted body scheme and spatial orientation. However, at the present time it could not be determined whether the pain precedes the effect of disrupted body scheme or vice versa. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
