School failure of pupils from teacher and parent's perspective

This diploma thesis deals with school success and failure from the perspective of parents and teachers. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with different perspectives on school success and failure, school evaluation, causes of school failure, its consequences and possible solutions. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to qualitative research based on asking specific questions. The main aim of this thesis is to find out teachers' and parents' perspectives on the issue of school success and failure of pupils and to evaluate whether grades can be considered as an indicator of school (un)success
Teacherś support of the unsuccessful primary school pupils

The diploma thesis deals with the role of the teacher in the education of unsuccessful schoolchildren at the 1st stage of primary school. The theoretical part deals with various concepts of school failure. The first chapter defines the concept of school success and failure. The second chapter deals with the various reasons for school failure, which the teacher must determine in order to effectively support the pupil. The third chapter focuses on the behavior of pupils with SEN, which can often be dangerous and the teacher must know how to behave in such situations. The fourth chapter deals with how a pupil with SEN is admitted to a regular class. Above all, however, the thesis focuses on the procedures used by the teacher, which help the child in learning and overcoming obstacles that make his learning more difficult, including subjectively perceived failure. We will find this information in the fifth chapter. The next chapters focus on the teaching assistant and the school, which are of cordinal importance in supporting the student. The aim of the empirical part is to find out how teachers at the 1st stage of primary school give unsuccessful pupils support, and what effective procedures (strategies) they use. Extent and Cause of Private Tutoring at Primary Schools

The goal of this thesis is to outline the situation of private supplementary tutoring in the first years of primary school in the Czech Republic, as this topic has not been investigated properly so far. A questionnaire for young pupil's parents was chosen as an appropriate method to collect the data needed. Although the research sample was not large, the research has brought valuable information about the children who have supplementary tutoring, about the reasons they (their parents) have for it, and also the tutors chosen to teach the pupils. The thesis builds on foreign sources and compares the situation in the Czech Republic with the situation in other countries in the world. Despite its limited extent this work could be used as a first groundwork for subsequent more extensive research in this field.
An Analysis of Children's Drawing as an Additional Tool for Assessing

This thesis deals with the options found in children's drawings symptoms that might help in uncovering school failure. The thesis consists of a theoretical and research part. The theoretical part is based on knowledge of the literature and the praxis. The first chapter describes the causes and symptoms of school failure. The second chapter deals with drawings and by drawing tests. There is described the methods and techniques used in my research in the third chapter. The research section contains the survey whose main objective was to confirm certain features of the drawing containing the failed student. The results of the survey were achieved through drawings, "Questionnaire of self - conception pupils' school success" by Z. Matějček and M. Vágnerová, analysis of average marks and interviews with teachers. The aim is to characterize the symptoms of failed student in the drawing.
Concept of a succsessful pupil at a primary school at inclusive education from the point of view of a teacher

This Master's thesis is focused on concept of a succsessful pupil at a primary school at inclusive education from the point of view of a teacher. Thesis is devided on a theoretic and practical part. First part of the thesis involves theoretical basis for concept of a successful student. Qualitative research was utilized to answer the research questions through interviews with a small group of respondents who were teachers from elementary school and were divided into two groups by teaching experience. The research was supplemented with questions about my self-reflection of developments regarding the concept of a successful student. It was found out how primary school teachers perceive a successful student and how strong the influence of the school environment on this conception. The role of the teacher and family in primary school education of unsuccessful pupils

This diploma thesis deals with the role of the teacher and family in primary school education of unsuccessful pupils. The first and, at the same time, the most extensive chapter of the theoretical part is concerned with the definition of school failure and its different concepts. Moving on, it focuses on the causes of school failure as their determination is absolutely necessary for teachers to be able to work effectively. Causes of school failure, may, inter alia, be related to the pupil's family, whose role is described in the second theoretical chapter. This chapter is focused on the relation between the pupil's family and their success at school and defines the factors that influence the pupils' performances and results in connection with their family environment. The third and last chapter of the theoretical part deals with effective methods of working with the pupils who are unsuccessful at school and provides a comprehensive set of areas that are significant for the support of unsuccessful children and that, at the same time, help prevent potential failure. This thesis deals with the issue of school readiness and procedures for the assessment. It focuses on achieving individual developmental areas for children before they enter school, the conduct of the assessment of maturity and option diagnostic tools. The objective of this work is to identify most vulnerable and high-risk areas for school children before entering school and the possibility of stimulation. It also presents the possibility of using screening tests and presentation of their results. The aim of this thesis is based on the utilization of available screening tests in a sample of children, including the latest diagnostic tools maters, the practical part of the work and the conclusions of this thesis, which dealt with the appropriate options stimulation attenuated developmental areas.
