Interconnection of school libraries in teaching in secondary schools

This bachelor thesis brings a case study focusing on better integration of the activities of school libraries in an educational process and prepars a draft suggesting how to implement the knowledge in the area of Information and Library Studies into the framework education plan for high schools. The case study relates to the library of Gymnasium Přibram, Legionářů 402. The work has a theoretical part developing policies and work possibilities of school libraries within their schools. In the application Part it processes, implements, and evaluates the example lesson for the educational area Man and Society on the topic of information sources for historical seminary,citation ethics. It is the level of literacy of children on the basis of the findings of international surveys PISA and IALS. Analyzes technical, spatial and personal capacities involvement of school libraries in the education of students. Analysis framework educational plan for the student competence grammar sets that are consistent with the content of information literacy standards. Detects the status of the information needs of secondary school students based on analysis of information requests readers school library Gymnázia Pribram, Legionářů 402 in the years 2010 - 2015. Grammar school's libraries and their activites for reading development and information literacy education

The diploma thesis deals with grammar school libraries and their activities for reading literacy and information literacy development in the Czech Republic and Sweden. The first part of the thesis defines theoretical methods for reading and information literacy development, current level of reading and information literacy in the Czech Republic and Sweden. Part of the thesis describes school system and legislation of school libraries of both countries. Practical part of the thesis is composed of analysis of websites of the libraries and comparison of one Czech and one Swedish school library.

Role of school libraries in development of media literacy in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis examines the possibilities of involving school librarians and information specialists in the process of growth in media literacy at Czech schools. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly introduces the general issues of media education and media literacy in our country and abroad, while the practical part of the thesis based on its own research, focuses on a particular target group - Prague secondary schools ("gymnázium"). Using a questionnaire and five case studies conducted at selected secondary schools in Prague, it conducts a survey of the current situation of implementation of media education in the Czech Republic. The end of the thesis deals with some ideas of how to involve graduates of the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship in teaching media education according to the American model of a "teacher librarian".
Thirty years of Czech librarianship on pages of the "Čtenář" journal (1960-1989)

The aim of this thesis is a formal and content analysis of thejournal Čtenář in 1960 - 1989. The work used the method of content analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction. The introductory chapter describes the general information relating to the national library journal, which is based on more than 60 years. The following chapter is dedicated to the history of Czech Librarianship during the analyzed period. The third chapter presents an analysis of the formal structure of the journal Čtenář. It focuses not only on the graphic design of the journal, but especially on the composition of the editorial board and the authors contributing to the journal. The core work is a content analysis of the journal Čtenář, which is located on the 4th and 5th chapter. The work presents an overview of topics dealt with in the journal over thirty years. Part of the work is an alphabetical name index of all the authors who contributed to the journal. Result of this work is to evaluate one period of development the Czech librarianship, as it was reported in the national library journal.
