Standard of Dutch Primary School Headmaster

1 ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with Dutch primary school headmaster profession standard analysis. Its goal is to break down facts, how this standard is framed, how does it relate to theory, what are the headmaster's job criteria, how is his/her post determined, and lastly, how is this standard used. One of the parts is the analysis of headmaster's position and personal plan as a tool for further education. Considering the size of text and language differences, content text analysis is used. The standard itself, based on competencies, their models, and effective leadership characteristics as tools for headmaster's as well as children education, is going through a lot of change. These changes are widely described in this work, which also mentions what parts of this standard are possible to take into consideration in the Czech republic. TITLE: Headmaster's influence at educational results of pupils AUTHOR: Hana Kindlová DEPARTMENT: School Management Centre SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Jan Voda, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The topic of this thesis is to investigate the influence of the headmaster on pupils' educational results. The aim is to suggest and verify a model suitable for analyzing the influence of the headmaster on pupils' educational results. The basic research question is the following: "How can we analyze the relationship between pupils' educational results and various aspects of work of the headmaster?" The objective was achieved by the following manner. At first, they were defined by means of the educational results of pupils in the theoretical part and, based on the study of foreign resources, the fields of work of the headmasters that have an influence on pupils' educational results were listed. The influence of the headmaster on educational results of a selected research sample of pupils was examined, described and quantified in the research part by means of a survey (in the form of an interview), its analysis, synthesis and evaluation. Strategy of Education 2020, challenges faced by headmasters

Final thesis deals with the Ministry of Education Strategy document prepared for educational policy of the Czech Republic till 2020 and possibilities of fulfilling its vision, which includes ensuring quality education accessible to everyone, oriented to student with the maximum use of its educational potential. The thesis is focused on the possibility of strengthening the traditional importance and impact of school for the whole society and the need for changes in the methods and forms of education that are used in the traditional way for decades without regard to the needs of a changing society. The issue is examined in the context of directors of elementary and secondary schools with regard to their level of knowledge and understanding of the document and their overall approach to the proposed interventions. The research finds if headmasters know what is expected from them and what conditions they see as an effective implementation and if they recognized challenges standing in front of them. University Ranking

The thesis deals with the University Rankings. In the theoretical part there is a brief introduction into the history of the University Rankings followed by the manner in which the University Rankings are used by students and universities. The theoretical part then defines the areas of criticism regarding objectivity, simplifications and other problems. Another topic is the position of the Czech universities within the rankings. Then the alternatives to the rankings are presented. Subsequently the overview of the significant rankings is introduced. In the analytical part there is a detailed analysis of the three most important global rankings and a comparison of methodological criteria with other three rankings. Then a correlation analysis of the three most important rankings is performed on the first fifty universities and on a random selection of fifty universities. A comparison with other three rankings is offered. This is followed by a correlation analysis of the university rankings and the tuition as a practical example of the application.
Class teacher and the selection of teachers at this position in the primary school

This thesis presents criteria in selecting an appropriate candidate for position of a class teacher at basic school, basing on performed analysis of different information sources. There's examined knowledge of a school class, potential of class teacher's operational and organizational meetings with his class, leading of parent's evenings and mission of a class teacher at recent basic school. Within school management it offers a detailed professiography of work of a class teacher determined with its legal definition, available professional literature and first of all with analysis of information acquired in interviews with five persons personally involved in these issues - school director, school psychologist, long experienced class teacher, mother of a ninth class student and a student of a ninth class at basic school. The class teacher's work is explored either from viewpoint of conditions for his work as also from viewpoint of his professional and personal competences. These criteria of selecting an appropriate candidate may further be used in common practice of a basic school director within making his decision on right person for this responsible task.

Final thesis deals with one of the managerial competencies of teachers-checking. The essence of control is a critical evaluation of reality with respect to the intended target. The work is based both on theoretical knowledge gained by studying professional literature, both from some of the experience gained from their own practice, as well as the knowledge that I gained studying school management and in particular the analysis of the information obtained through use of interview techniques, interview related to the findings, in which a variety of professional contexts performing teachers nursery and primary school management activities and monitoring what is normally subject to their control.

I deal with one teacher's competence in detail -mainly the communication in terms of informing, reporting, and administration. In the second part I write about the research and the method which was carried out. The aim of the research is to analyze, clarify, describe how teachers communicate within the organization and outside the school. Who do they communicate with most frequently, in which way, and what are the pitfalls of communication.
