Finsterschott, Theo ; Spurný, Matěj (advisor) ; Kopeček Šustrová, Radka (referee)
The primary focus of the thesis "Sadism and Masochism in Medicalization and Culture During the Last Third of the Long 19th Century in the Czech and European Context" is, firstly, to examine the distinctive notions of sadism and masochism in the works of Austro-German psychiatrist Richard von Krafft-Ebing (1840-1903); secondly, to analyze how these two perversions came into being and took shape in the field of medicine, in literature and in society itself; and, thirdly, to explore how these concepts were then received and reinterpreted - namely in the study "Culilinctus et fellatio" by Czech forensic physician Václav Bělehradský (1844- 1896), which appeared in the Časopis lékařů českých journal and where the concepts of neronism and encolpism, counterparts to sadism and masochism, were first introduced. The thesis further explores the continuities and, more importantly, the discontinuities in sadism and masochism, starting with concepts prior to Krafft-Ebing's distinctions, focusing on their genesis as complementary perversions, and ending with their significance for the 20th century and the present day. The text is devised as an analysis of the position of erotic desire and practice, namely in their role as primary constituents of sadism, masochism and other related concepts; it is endogenous desire,...

The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to understand three specific battlefields from the period of the 30-year war as a phenomenon of places of memory and to reconstruct their second life. The time frame of the work is from 1918 to the present, i.e. the year 2022. The selected battlefields are near Rakovník (1620), Rozvadov (1621) and Třebele (1647), i.e. in the area of western Bohemia. Part of the analysis is also the search for continuities and discontinuities in the research interest and its impact. The rate and level of memory, or just the recall of battle events in the given area, is monitored. The battlefield is conceived as a defined area in the landscape, where its fate, transformation and development are monitored. Written sources, published texts, but also documents about activities reminiscent of former battlefields in public space were used for the work, supplemented by a questionnaire whose respondents are the closest residents in the vicinity of the battlefields.

Conceptualization of Space in Historiography
Pýcha, Čeněk ; Činátl, Kamil (advisor) ; Spurný, Matěj (referee)
The main topic of this master thesis are the representation of space of northern Bohemia in the era of czechoslovakian state socialism. The aim of thesis is to approximate historical agents understanding of space. There is a Michel de Certeau's concept of space in the methodological background. De Certeau understands space like a set of places, which is designed by dynamic by social agents. For analysis I have chosen some social realms, where is strong connection to space (tourism, cultural heritage managment, school education, visual representation and sending postcards). The sources were designed by these social realms and the thesis is grounded on the case studies. At the end of thesis I have tried to apply Aleida Assmann's theory of paradigmatic change in the social concept of time. This change we can observate in the 80s and it occures also in space, because direct in space is made sense of time. Keywords: space, northern Bohemia, socialism, representation, historical agent
