The Park of Sychrov Castle and Its Use in Education of Natural History and Biology

Bachelor thesis deals with utilization of the castle park of Sychrov in education of Natural Science and Biology. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The main aim of the theoretical part is to elaborate the characteristics of the castle park from the viewpoint of outplanting history and its development through the ages. In the first chapter, basic information about the Castle of Sychrov is listed. The second chapter focuses on the castle park, description of its history and on the composition of a plantation. Practical part deals with selected types of woody species with emphasis on their didactical use and on their use in the walking tour project. Furthermore, the working list for elementary school pupils has been developed. These materials are suitable for the excursions which would be held directly in the castle park. For revision of the gained knowledge, the worksheet for follow-up classwork has been developed.
The Issue of Spruce Monocultures in Connection with Occurrence of Bark Beetles in the National Park Šumava with Application into Education

The diploma thesis deals with the issues of the spruce monocultures in the relation to the incidence of the bark beetle (Ips typographus) in the Šumava National park. The aim of the thesis is not only to unify and arrange the information, but also find out the level of knowledge about this topic among the pupils of the ninth grade of the basic school. The work also shows the level of knowledge of the pupils about the related problems and what are their opinions and suggested solutions. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part consists of eight chapters, that are devoted to the history of the Šumava forests, pine tree monocultures with the closer focus on the Norway spruce (Picea abies), the differences among the "natural" and "economical" forest and to the uniqueness of the Boubín primeval forest. In one of the chapters we get information about the huriccane Kyrill and its effects on the Šumava forests and followed by the information about the bark beetle calamities and about the bark beetle on its own. The last two chapters are devoted the solution of the current situation in the Šumava forests and their future perspectives. Alergens in the Teaching of Natural Science, Biology and Chemistry

The theme of the diploma thesis is allergens in the teaching of natural science, biology and chemistry. The subject and its aim is to find out the presence of allergens in selected classes of natural sciences (natural sciences, biology, chemistry) as well as the level of awareness of problems of allergies and allergens from teachers and pupils of elementary schools and grammar schools and to compare whether teachers of selected subjects take into account Creating climate climate for allergic pupils. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The first part summarizes all theoretical knowledge, including the theme of allergies and allergens. It deals with the concept of allergy from the historical point of view, it characterizes the general importance of allergies and its connection with the immune system, it presents individual risk factors influencing the origin and development of allergic disease. A large part of the theoretical part describes allergic diseases including their manifestations, diagnosis and follow-up treatment, and also the individual types of allergens that are classified according to their effects on the organism. Didactic utilization of selected woody plants around natural monument Čertova kazatelna

This diploma thesis is focused on the didactic use of woody plants in teaching at the secondary level of elementary schools and in the corresponding years of grammar schools. The purpose is to appropriately use trees and other woody plants that are close to schools and are available for teaching. The theoretical part deals with basic curricular documents, methods of teaching possibly used in science or biology that have been briefly characterized, and the representation of the topic of woody plants and their method of processing in commonly available textbooks. The following chapter provides a description of the woody plants used in the process of making of the practical materials. The research of the thesis includes a questionnaire survey done among teachers of science or biology at chosen elementary and grammar schools in Pilsen and surrounding towns. The research investigated the teaching methods and the actual use of woody plants in lessons and was evaluated afterwards. Based on the survey, a motivational teaching material was created and it was verified in practice with pupils of a specific grammar school. Instructive Picture in the Fundaments of Humanities and Sciences and its Historical Perspective

This diploma thesis was written in cooperation with the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius in Prague. It deals with the vast area of instructive pictures and especially with their potential use in teaching elementary school pupils science, mainly in the second year of elementary schools. The diploma thesis seeks to determine the significance of the instructive picture in its historical perspective, to state whether even nowadays the instructive picture is still a valid teaching aid in teaching of sciences in the educational process. The first, theoretical part of the thesis, the basic concepts concerning the instructive picture, didactic means and the so important psychological approach to perception of pictorial materials are determined. A considerable part of the thesis focuses on the historical development of the school instructive picture in general and on its development in sciences in particular. Also included is a thorough study of the teaching process with the use of rare instructive pictures in the past and the current aims of teaching sciences at present are presented. Microbiological excursions

This thesis work is aimed at the meaning of excursion in teaching biology at secondary vocational school for thematic complex of microbiology. The topic of microbiology is not attractive for students of secondary vocational school and it is very important to find out what the impact of the excursion will be on the knowledge of students who will participate on the excursion Part of this work is evaluation of excursion as an alternative method of teaching and its overall importance in the teaching of biology. Diploma thesis work brings an overview how the individual stages of the excursion should theoretically look like. It provides list of institutions and factories which may be asked for microbiology excursion in practice. Next part includes completely described excursion in brewery U Fleků including preparation realization and evaluation. Excursion was taken by two classes of different fields with identical pre concept of their studies. Part of the school phase of the excursion is testing students in the form of pre test with the knowledge of microbiology theme, particularly beer production and yeasting process.
