Coverage of women in selected online articles during the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games
Poláčková, Tereza ; Crossan, William Morea (advisor) ; Kaprálková, Michaela (referee)
Title: Coverage of women in selected online articles during the Beijing 2022 Olympic games Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to analyse the gender balance of articles published on two selected online sports websites and their social networks. Methods: This thesis contains an analysis of secondary data, which were studies dealing with gender issues not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The articles were subjected to a content analysis, which included a quantitative as well as a qualitative part of the research. Indicators were selected after analysis of secondary data and examined by content analysis. Posts on social media were examined by quantitative method of data collection. Results: The results obtained from the content analysis and compared with earlier studies showed that gender imbalance has decreased in the last four years and that articles are fairly distributed between men and women. Compared to the independent standard, that was determined by the percentage distribution of all participating athletes, the percentage of articles written about women was higher. The gender of the authors was no longer equal. During the analysis of the two sites, there were found only four women from fourty eight authors. Thus, the authors were not influenced by gender and wrote articles...
Bilateral assymetry of desmids, populational phenomena and cellular complexity
Poláčková, Tereza ; Neustupa, Jiří (advisor) ; Kleisner, Karel (referee)
This thesis deals with the morphological asymmetry of the desmid genus Micrasterias (Desmidiales, Viridiplantae). In total, 71 populations belonging to 13 species sampled at 31 different locations were used. In addition to the traditional approach of the biradial asymmetry decomposition (joint PCA of the symmetric copies of all the cells) a novel approach based on a PCA of the symmetric copies of each cell separately was also used. Both these methods were found to be replaceable, but the second method may have broader applications. The dominant asymmetric pattern was described by the differences in shape of the opposite semicells, i.e. those segments that represent the juvenile and adult parts of the cells. Cellular ontogenesis of semicells is separated in time and, therefore, this asymmetry may be determined by varying abiotic conditions. However, a part of this asymmetric pattern would also be explained by ontogenetic differences among mature and developing semicells. The asymmetry between the left and right part of the cells, as well as the transversal asymmetry proved to be less conspicuous. Relative representation of the different asymmetric patterns between populations proved to be relatively stable. Morphological complexity did not correlate with the asymmetric levels. This means that the...
Rights and duties of a forest owner
Poláčková, Tereza ; Drobník, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
74 10. RESUME a NÁZEV PRÁCE V ANGLICKÉM JAZYCE " RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF FOREST OWNERS" SUMMARY - ENGLISH Forests cover about a third of the territory of the Czech Republic and they are an important component of our environment, landscape elements and - considering their production and non-production functions - part of the life of every one of us. This study attempts to describe and explain the rights and duties of an owner of this special subject of ownership. Since it is necessary to protect forests for the above mentioned reasons, our law contains a number of legal regulations governing the rights and duties of forest owners which must be followed by every forest owner. It is one of the aims of this study to discuss the provisions of these regulations which apply to forest owners. At the beginning, this study discusses the basic data on the forests in the Czech Republic, then it proceeds to explain the term 'ownership', and describe the main differences and particularities between forest ownership and 'regular' ownership. A forest owner is significantly limited in the exercise of his/her ownership rights, particularly by special acts such as Act No. 289/1995 Coll. (Forest Act), Act No. 114/1992 Coll. (Nature and Landscape Protection Act), Act No. 326/2004 Coll. (Act on Plant Health Care), and other. This...

Poláčková, Tereza ; Crossan, William Morea (advisor) ; Janák, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Marketing recruitment campaign of new members to the club TJ Vodní Stavby Praha - Zelený pruh Objectives: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is the analysis of previous recruitment campaigns and the creation of a new comprehensive marketing promotion for the club of rhythmic gymnastics TJ Vodní Stavby Praha - Zelený pruh with the intention of increasing the membership base and awareness of the club. Methods: The bachelor thesis is based on the analysis of secondary data associated with the researched club (number of members, evaluation of flyers from past years, club social networks and website). Next part was quantitative method of personal interviewing of parents of participating children in order to find out the feedback of resources used to promote recruitment. and comparison of recruitment strategies of other local clubs. Results: After analysing the secondary data of the club, it was found out how many members had been added after each recruitment and what the recruitment contributions looked like. Furthermore, the number of website visits for the month of September since 2015 was examined and subsequently compared. Using this data, a campaign for 2020 was created and shared on several channels. In the end, feedback was provided in the form of quantitative investigation of newcomers to...
Unofficial Czechoslovak Architecture Scene of the 1980s
Poláčková, Tereza ; Klimešová, Marie (advisor) ; Biegel, Richard (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the architectonic tendencies in 1980s in Czechoslovakia which were aside the stream of the official design studios and The Czech architects Union. The aim of the diploma thesis, based on the particular examples of free architectural groups, exhibitions and other activities they had in common, to create vivid and complex image of tendencies in monitored period. The situation of centralized building production is described in the introducing part - what made the youngest and middle generation of architects to attempt at the change of architectonic production and also the status of own profession. In individual chapters you can learn about syndicates "Středotlací", "Vokolo Vosmýho", "Obecní dům" and "Zlatí Orli". The first common exhibitions of graphic artists and architects in early 80s and later the exhibitions of painted/paper architecture arranged by "Technical magazine" between 1985 and 1990 are introduced in the paper. It introduces the activity of Jiří Ševčík who was the essential theorist of contemporary architecture. He devoted his work to mediate foreign, most often postmodern, theory of architecture. The thesis is trying to pass an opinion on the specific point of view of contemporary local interpretation of postmodernism and also to introduce application of...
Urbanistic development of Žižkov district in the second part of the 20th century
Poláčková, Tereza ; Biegel, Richard (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The focus of this thesis is the urban development of Žižkov from its foundation in the second half of the nineteenth century to present time. Emphasis will be put on the problem of the planned and partially executed redevelopment in the second half of the twentieth century. The early history of Žižkov will be described in the introduction from the earliest historical evidence to the end of the nineteenth century. This chapter explains the ideas behind the construction and design of this neighbourhood. The following chapters will analyse the development of perception and approach to Žižkov including the early utopian urban planning from the beginning of the twentieth century, the plans from the interwar era, and the plans designed between 1960s and 1980s, which led to the partial destruction of Žižkov. The functional, social, esthetic and historical consequences of the loss of the heritage will be analysed. Other circumstances, such as the reasons behind the executed redevelopment, the production of construction materials and the reception by professional and non- professional audience will be considered. The individual plans will be described and analysed from the early ideas of Radiant city to the later executed plans of the tower blocks around Olšanské náměstí and náměstí Komenského.

Temperature-related phenotypic plasticity of free-living protists
Poláčková, Tereza ; Neustupa, Jiří (advisor) ; Kulichová, Jana (referee)
In my Bc Thesis I focused on temperature-corellated phenotypic plasticity. The theoretical part is divided into four main thematical units. The first one deals with temperature optimum and growth parameters. The second one with cell size and its infuence on the physiology and ecology of protists. The thirt one with genotyp influence on cell size and growth rate. The fourt one is about primary production and its relation to antagonistic phenomenon of increasing growth rate and decreasing cell size with increasing temperature. Finally, the fifth one is about specific examples of morphological changes which we can find in protist group. In the practical part of the thesis I performed basic analysis of my own data about Micrasterias thomasiana and Micrasterias rotata. I compared the cells from May and October samples from the peat-bog in Krušné hory. The result of my analysis is that there is probably no sezonally-corellted morphological variability in neither of the studied species. Data on M. rotata may be, however, affected by the fact that I found it at one location only.
