Beranová, Barbora ; Kohoutek, Jan (advisor) ; Tumová, Anna (referee)
The main aim of the thesis is to explore a current status of entrance examination procedures, which are applied for bachelor studies at faculties of Charles University with social science orientation (i.e. the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Arts). In first part, utilizing an analysis of relevant secondary data, the thesis deals with the description of current forms of entrance examination procedures. Besides description of current practice, the thesis further contains an analysis of stakeholders and qualitative research which is based on an analysis of interviews with representatives of faculty decision-makers, representatives of students from the faculty academic senates and students of the three analyzed faculties. The inteviews were transcribed and open-coded, which led to the sorting information into categories by theme. As a method of stakeholder analysis a "quick" analysis of stakeholders was used in order to identify the main stakeholders of the issues under investigation. Overall, the analysis of interviews shows that each faculty has different strategies and preferences for selecting students during the entrance procedure. Hence, possible consensus of entrance examination procedures in similar fields across the three faculties is not entirely likely,...

Dyachenko, Olena ; Kalous, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kohoutek, Jan (referee)

In light of all the commenced reforms higher education was on its way to reform as well and foundations were made by adopting State national program "Education. Ukraine XXI century." in year 1992 and later by joining the Bologna process on May 19th 2005 at the Bergen conference of European Ministers Responsible for Higher Education. Although Ukraine inherited a well-developed higher education system, the system was created for Soviet Union needs and in those terms education was not adjusted for a market economy in structure of professional directions training. In current time we experience deeper and deeper indebtedness of Czech households and their deterioration into insolvency on one side, on the other side among Czech population was identified a very low rate of financial literacy in the last few years. As a result of these two findings a hypothesis was created that behind the high indebtedness stands the low financial literacy of population and that it is possible to fight indebtedness by increasing financial literacy. The thesis main target is to analyze approach of Czech Republic to financial literacy, particularly as to a tool of prevention of indebtedness of households. Simultaneously its target is to reveal relation between financial literacy and indebtedness. According to these reasons the thesis is based on several theoretical outcomes - the theory of prevention of risky behavior, the theory of financial education as a prevention from hazard and from the theory of implementation as a part of public policy cycle. Examined problem is defined using analysis of indebtedness of Czech households, determines the occasions and results of this risky behavior; and through delimitation issue of financial literacy. Thesis provides a synthesis of knowledge as options and limits of financial literacy in the fight with increasing indebtedness. Empirical part...

Kohoutek, Jan ; Kurc, David (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
The main task of this bachelor thesis is description of interaction of sound waves in field. To understand the whole topic important physical laws related to sound waves propagation are defined. It also deals with frequency and directional response of ideal point source which compares with real measured responses of direct-radiating electrodynamic loudpeaker. Thesis are shown some examples of sound fields on which are specified their behavior. It also desribe main properties for right functionality of line-array source. In practical part are measured acoustic pressure values which lead to creating a interpolation map of sound pressure level. This obtained map was compared with theoretical acoustic field. Part of this bachelor thesis is program which enable to simulate acoustic field created under variable sound and environment properties.
Long Night's Journey into Day: Implementation of Czech Policy on Higher Education Quality Assurance
Kohoutek, Jan ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Stensaker, Bjorn (referee) ; Štech, Stanislav (referee) ; Šebková, Helena (referee)
This doctoral thesis takes up the theme of policy implementation in higher education. More specifically, the thesis aims to analyse the implementation of Czech system-level policy on higher education quality assurance in the period from 1990 until 2010. This policy is analysed through the implementation instruments: accreditation, the Higher Education Development Fund, the Development Programmes, and the platform for dissemination of examples of good practice. The conceptual framework guiding the enquiry combines insights from the policyaction continuum concept, the instrumental approach to policy implementation, including Vedung's typology of policy instruments, and Actor-Centred Institutionalism. The enquiry undertaken in the thesis attests to the theoretical and empirical obsoleteness of the Cerych and Sabatier framework, traditionally used in analysing higher education policy implementation. Furthermore, the enquiry identifies the stick-carrot-sermon instrument set-up as a distinct implementation style. As a result of the enquiry, several shortcomings are identified that limit the utilisation of the four implementation instruments, and recommendations are formulated on how to ameliorate them in policy practice.
Towards implementing the instruments of Bologna process in the area of recognition of foreign diplomas in the Czech Republic
Peterková, Michaela ; Vlk, Aleš (advisor) ; Kohoutek, Jan (referee)
This study perceives the implementation stage of a policy cycle as an area, which may influence whether the policy has the intended effects. The author focuses on the implementation of the instruments of the Bologna Process in the field of foreign diploma recognition in the Czech Republic and asks, what can one learn about the implementation of a policy in general from studying this specific policy area? To answer this questions the study develops a conceptual and research framework, based on which the author presents propositions as tentative answers to the research questions. The conceptual and research framework is then used to analyze the sources of data, which include a questionnaire survey, analysis of documents and semi- structured interviews. Based on these the author presents recommendations for the implementation of the instruments of the Bologna Process in the area of foreign diploma recognition in the Czech Republic. At the end of the study, the shortcomings and benefits of the application of the conceptual and research framework are evaluated. The main contribution of this study therefore lies in producing recommendations and evaluations in the specific area of foreign diploma recognition in the Czech Republic and also by testing a practical application of a conceptual and research...
Stakeholders' attitudes towards policy of cost- sharing in Czech higher education institutions
Vanková, Milada ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Kohoutek, Jan (referee)
The topic of my diploma thesis is a policy of cost- sharing in the Czech higer education system. Discussion of the cost- sharing policy implementation in the Czech higer education system has taken place for almost twenty years. Yet no form of tutition fees at higer education institutions was introduced. The cost- sharing seems to be a controversial element in the effort to reform the system of Czech higher education financing. The Czech higher education system needs a reform. There are many problems: worsening financial situation of higher education institution, a low efficiency of the system, inequitable access to higher education etc. Policy making is a complex process, which comprise of many factors. In this process, stakeholders plays a very important role. Stakeholders are those, who are interested in the policy or those who are influenced by it. In my thesis I want to clarify a dispute about the policy of cost- sharing in the Czech higher education. To reach this goal, I try to describe the attitudes of higher education policy stakeholders to the cost- sharing in the period of 1992- 2012.
