Support education for pupils with mental disabilities in primary schools

This diploma thesis is concerned with the issues of educational support within the integration of pupils with mild mental disabilities in common primary schools. The theoretical part is divided into chapters which deal with the definition of mild mental disability and its classification, the description of pupils with mild mental disabilities in school age, the specific needs within the education of pupils with mild mental disabilities, the issue of integration, the valid legislature concerning these pupils and most importantly with the supporting measures which are provided for these pupils. The aim of the practical part of the thesis was to find out which supporting measures are provided for pupils with mild mental disabilities in common primary schools and how are these measures put into practice. To gather the required information, the method of a semi-structured interview with selected teachers and the staff of school consulting centers has been used. To further specify the acquired data, the analysis of pupil documentation (mainly individual education plans) has been carried out. Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders

In diploma thesis named "Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders" we are trying to find out if the implementation of one of three methods of teaching to read and write - analytic synthetic method, genetic method or Sfumato eliminates the development of specific learning disabilities - dyslexia, disgraphia and disorthographia. The first part of work looks into theoretical outcomes of each method of teaching to read and write and defines specific learning disabilities. In the second part of work methods of teaching to read and write depending on specific learning disabilities development are compared and evaluated based on results of questionnaires, interviews and observation.
Attitudes of primary school teachers to inclusive education of children with mental disabilities

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of inclusive education of pupils with mental disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to find out what attitudes are occupied by primary school teachers and teachers of basic schools that are practical for the inclusive education of pupils with mental disabilities. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on providing basic information about people with mental disabilities, the possibilities of their education and the interpretation of the concepts of integration and inclusion. Further, there is legislation on the education of pupils with special educational needs and a system of counseling services provided in schools and school counseling facilities. The practical part contains information acquired through the method of interview, whose aim is to find out the opinions and attitudes of teachers of basic schools and teachers of elementary schools that are practical for the inclusive education of pupils with mental disabilities.

TITLE: Teaching English and Pupils with Special Educational Needs AUTHOR: Janka Kociánová DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Lenka Felcmanová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The thesis deals with the teaching of English of pupils with special educational needs, focusing on pupils with specific learning disabilities (SLD). The issue of pupils with SLD and didactics of English language are described in the theoretical part. The aim of the practical part was to find out how pupils with SLD are taught English in primary schools, which forms of education, the most frequently aids (textbooks, materials, etc.) and methods are used. Quantitative as well as qualitative methods were chosen for the research - the questionnaire survey (the questionnaire for teachers), aids and analysis of materials, interviews with teachers and case studies. On the basis of the obtained data, the effectiveness of the various activities is evaluated and a list of the recommended teaching aids, materials and resources is presented. Primary Prevention Policy Focused on Using of Alcohol and Tobacco in the Czech Republic

The master thesis focuses on the topic of primary prevention policy aimed at using of alcohol and tobacco among children and youth. The main goal of the thesis is to to find out how is this policy implemented and to identify the possibilities for improvement and other changes. In the theoretical part of this study the analysis of the strategic primary prevention documents and legislative is presented. Also the problematics of using alcohol and tobacco among children and youth and theory of implementation of public policy is complemented. In the practical part of the study the qualitative research is presented. The research was realised by semi-standardized interviews among 16 representatives of the primary prevention policy - school methodists of prevention, methodists of prevention in pedagogical psychological advice bureau, county school prevention coordinators, representatives of the NGO sector and state administration. The results of the research show that the implementation of the primary prevention policy is not effective. The research shows that the policy has many deficiencies which are demonstrated most in the school environment.
Teacher's attitudes towards inclusive concept of basic education

This thesis deals with the concept of inclusive education in primary schools. The aim of this thesis is to find out what positives and negatives teachers see in inclusive concept of basic education, and what recommendations could help the functioning of the inclusive education process. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the process of inclusion and inclusive education, including a description of concepts, principles and manifestations. In the theoretical part, an inclusive school environment, including actors of an inclusive process is also approached. The basis for the practical part is the survey, which aims at finding the attitudes, opinions and suggestions of primary school teachers on the issue. The results of the research show that the current concept of inclusive education is misunderstood by most teachers and, unfortunately, most of them disagree with this concept. They see the risk of burden not only for children and teachers, but ultimately also for the entire school system, which may lose its quality. In spite of this, they find certain benefits in inclusive education, mostly in the fact that children can learn mutual motivation, cooperation, necessary social skills, and try to perceive and respect differences, which will help...
