Legal regulation of the product placement a its utilization by the czech television

The main aspects of this thesis is the analysis of the legal regulation of the product placement and its utilization by the Czech television. Czech law comes from the Directive 2007/65/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, therefore several chapters are dedicated to secondary law of the European Union. The last part of this thesis includes few ideas about the law de lege ferenda. The second part of this thesis consists of the application of the product placement by the Czech television and there is a comparative analysis with selected television shows from around the world. The comparison is made with the similar shows in regards to their format and style. The result is a recommendation how to apply product placement in the future and kind of mistakes could be prevented.
Case of Anna Janatková's murder in czech media with the emphasis on its objectivity

Thesis deals with media objectivity on the example of four Czech newspapers. Thesis in its theoretical part focuses on definition of media, journalist's role and their job which is influenced by many factors, socio-cultural context in which news production is implemented, outlines concept of media objectivity and describes media image of crime. Another part of thesis explains the terms concerning criminal procedure, qualifies rights and duties of criminal justice and a suspect person and finally concentrates on providing with information about offence by media and difficulties which can be appeared. Practical part of the thesis analyzes media objectivity through qualitative analysis of articles. Articles were chosen from four Czech newspapers (Aha!, Blesk, Mladá fronta Dnes, Právo) and two time periods: October-November 2010 and March-April 2011. Research question asks: Did chosen newspapers inform about a murder of Anna Janatková in an objective way? Objective way of informing is examined in relation to rights and duties of suspect and to protection of victims.
ACTA as an attempt for international law regulation of the internet.

This thesis deals with international Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, also known as ACTA. It came to attention of public and media in the beginning of 2012 and its ratification in the European parliament had been preceded by extensive protests. The thesis concentrates on the topic of Internet as a worldwide spread independent media and the way ACTA was supposed to interfere with it in the name of copyright defending. The aim of this work has been to create a comprehensive file about ACTA which could serve as an introduction to this issue and also as a minimum for further studying of this subject. The background of preparation of this agreement is described in the first part as well as its accepting in the EU - with emphasis on the Czech Republic - and also similar American bills PIPA and SOPA are mentioned. The second part is addressing the very content of the agreement. The meaning of chapters and sections of ACTA is briefly explained, described is the present law adjustment of the Internet, mainly the law protection of intellectual property on the Internet. The objections of public to ACTA and their evaluation in terms of validity are added in the thesis, too.
Enactment of so-called "muzzle act" and its impact on czech media

This thesis deals with the Act no. 52/2009 Coll., which amends the Act no. 141/1961 Coll. (Penal Procedure Code), as amended by latter Acts, and some other Acts. Because of its alleged censorial character, it was often referred to as the "Muzzle Act" by local media. The thesis is composed of five parts. The first one describes methods used in the rest of the text, the second one explains main theoretical concepts and essential topics that are important for understanding the other parts - right to privacy, right to information, publication of transcripts obtained by eavesdropping devices etc. It also describes contents of the "Muzzle Act" and its amendment. The third part reviews how the Act passed the legislative process in both chambers of the Parliament, including protests of media and some scholars against it. All the main reasons why protestors considered the Act censorial or even unconstitutional are drawn up in the fourth part of the thesis. It also sums up thoughts and confronts thoughts of people who argued in favour of the Act. In the fifth part, journalists from Czech News Agency (ČTK), daily newspaper Mladá fronta DNES, weekly magazine Respekt and news website Aktuálně.cz describe how the Act influenced their working habits and contents of their media. The thesis Protection of Crime Victims and the Media: Publishing of Mistreated Children Information before and after Passing the Law of Criminal Procedure Amendment in 2009 deals with the problem of secondary victimization caused by the media. More specifically, it focuses on the mistreated children and publishing that kind of information about them which enable their identification. It is concerned with the nationwide daily press and compares the situation before and after passing the Law of Criminal Procedure Amendment in 2009. This amendment introduced measures towards better privacy protection of crime victims with a special respect to underage victims and victims of some exceptionally serious crimes. The thesis compares the occurrence of information which enable identification of mistreated children in 2008 and 2011 in the three most popular nationwide dailies - Mlada fronta Dnes, Pravo and Blesk. It is interested in the following information: names and surnames of the victims and their family members, residence location, photos of the victims, their family members and their residence location. Legal Regulation of the Radio and Television Broadcast in the Czech Republic

The thesis Legal Regulation of the Radio and Television Broadcast in the Czech Republic deals with an analysis and description of relevant legal regulations applicable in the area of broadcasting and television in the Czech Republic and with a closer insight in the main legal institutes and entities. A theoretically-juridical opening is followed by an introduction of the Czech Republic and European Union legal systems. The core of the thesis is the main topic, which is the legal regulation of the radio and television broadcasting in the Czech Republic. This part is opened by a short historical abstract followed by chapters dedicated to particular legal regulations. The Broadcasting Act, the Act on Czech Television, the Czech Television Code, the Act on Czech Radio, the Czech Radio Code and the Act on Audio Visual Media Services upon Request are described in individual chapters. The closing part is dedicated to some of the legal regulations and their provisions that are more remotely related to the subject. Individual chapters describe relevant legal institutes of the Act on Advertising Regulation, the Advertising Council Code of Ethics, the Consumer Protection Act, the Commercial Code and the Civil Code.
Federalization of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and its reflection in Czech and Slovak daily press

Thesis "Federalization of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and its reflection in Czech and Slovak daily press" deals with the way selected Czech and Slovak newspapers reflected preparations and enactment of "Czechoslovak federation Act". Thesis is composed of four parts. The first describes history and evolution of relations between Czechs and Slovaks: foundation of their common state, creation of separate Slovak state, reconstruction of the republic after Second World War and later events. It explains why federalization was so important topic for Slovaks in 1968. The second part explores the situation of media in Czechoslovakia in 1968, when the censorship was banned during liberalization process of "Prague Spring". However, this process was cut off by the invasion of members of Warsaw Pact to the country. The third part is concerned with "Czechoslovak federation Act" itself, frames this important amendment of "Socialist" constitution from 1960 in Czech constitutional history. The fourth part reviews the way how Czech (Rudé právo, Svobodné slovo, Lidová demokracie) and Slovak newspapers (Pravda, Hlas ľudu, Smer) reflected federalization in selected time periods of 1968 and 1969.
Restitution of property of the former noble families after the year 1989

V. ABSTRACT/ ENGLISH SUMMARY The objects of this dissertation thesis are restitutions of property of former noble families in the Czech Republic after the year 1989. It concerns very controversial theme; this statements is even more valid if we speak about disputable restitutions of property. The issue is only rarely viewed from complex and impartial angle; this fact is caused i.a. by great complicacy of the factual and legal substance. Even the availability of historical documents is problematic, too. The public is frequently not aware of or has even no idea on certain key facts of individual cases, as a result of which usually only certain matters are perceived; this subjective perception is strengthened by individuals, who are from various reasons interested in ending the controversies concerning restitution of property of former noble families in favor of these former owners; these individuals use during their activities different instruments, which are described in detail in this dissertation thesis. In their efforts, the media are frequently their important backers, who not from interest, but due to unfamiliarity or ignorance, stress in some cases only the facts in favor of the former owners of property, which ends in deformed view of public on some very disputable cases. Results of libel in press in the relation to the relevant moral rights especially in the area of private law in the Czech Republic

This graduation thesis, entitled "Results of libel in press in the relation to the relevant moral rights especially in the area of private law in the Czech Republic" examines press interference into relevant moral rights. The first chapter describes the historical foundations of personal rights protection, as well as their international and European connections. The second chapter discusses the power of media, and the means used for its maintenance and strengthening. In the third chapter, an outline of motivations for publication of news press, which balance between righteousness and libel. In the fourth chapter, an assessment of the clash between freedom of speech and protection of privacy, which are categories guaranteed in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The content of the fifth chapter is fundamental because it provides a thorough analysis of the law which governs personal rights, with a focus on the civil code, press law and procedural rules. The sixth chapter brings sight of rules established by autoregulation. It deals with self- censorship, the journalist's code of ethics, self-controlling authorities and so on. Promotional activites of companies promoting nutrional supplements in the context of legal regulation of advertising in the Czech republic

This bachelor thesis is focused on the legal and ethical side of advertising of nutritional supplements. In the first (theoretical) part, the thesis covers the definition of advertising, theoretical conception of the advertising law, its development, historical context and the present regulation of advertising in the Czech Republic. An important part is the self-regulation of the advertising industry and its authority in the Czech Republic - Rada pro reklamu. The thesis also includes the main acts and important conceptions which are connected with the advertising industry. Another point is the regulation of advertising industry in the European Union and the application of European directives in Czech conditions. The topic of this bachelor thesis is connected with the advertising of nutritional supplements and its difference from the advertising of medicaments. We can often see various adverts of nutritional supplements which are deceptive in some way. Mostly it is very difficult to recognize if the product is a medicament or a nutritional supplement. There is a big difference between them, but the public is influenced by promotion and believes that a supplement can help with treating diseases. It can be very dangerous because it is often easier to buy a "magic box" with some pills and believe in its effects...
