Information systems used for simultaneous evaluation of the AS CR for years 2005-2009

Leadership Academy of Sciences since 1993, organizes regular assessments of their workplaces. In April 2011 ended the first phase of the fourth round proper evaluation for the period 2005-2009. The current evaluation process uses two systems, ASEP / ARL as a basis for bibliometric and on-line information system for the longitudinal part of the evaluation. Our contribution deals with the detailed description of these two systems and shows examples of its use in the evaluation of the AS CR

CHARAKTERIZACE NOVÝCH DRUHŮ LAKTOBACILŮ A JINÝCH BAKTERIÍ MLÉČNÉHO KVAŠENÍ Z TRÁVICÍHO TRAKTU SAVCŮ A HMYZU

Do skupiny probiotik, která jsou zjednodušeně definována jako „potravní doplňky obsahující přesně definované ţivé mikroorganismy mající prokazatelně pozitivní vliv na zdraví hostitele a zlepšující navíc vyuţívání ţivin“, náleţí především kmeny bifidobakterií, laktobacilů a jiných bakterií mléčného kvašení (druhy r. Lactococcus, Enterococcus, Streptococcus), ale také nepatogenní druhy bacilů (např. Bacillus coagulans), dále nepatogenní Escherichia coli, Propionibacterium freudenreichii a eukaryota v podobě některých druhů kvasinek (Saccharomyces boulardi). Zdá se, ţe výzkum probiotik je v současné době zaměřen na jiţ známé druhy především laktobacilů a bifidobakterií. Vzrůstá tedy význam testování probiotických vlastností jiných druhů bifidobakterií a bakterií mléčného kvašení (dále BMK), stejně tak izolace dosud nepopsaných druhů potenciálně vyuţitelných nejen v humánní medicíně, ale také v chovech hospodářských zvířat a v chovech hospodářsky významného hmyzu (včel a čmeláků).

Unique exposure system for the whole body inhalation experiments with small animals

The especially inhalation chamber is constructed for chronic exposure studies of small animals to nanoparticles under strictly controlled conditions in frame of project „Study of transport of inhalated nano-sized particles (Pb, Cd) and their allocation in organs“. The inhalation chamber builds from a glass and stainless steel and makes possible long-term inhalation procedures (up to 60 days, 24 hours/day) with up to four discrete groups of mice population (up to 60 individuals each) or of rats population (up to 20 individuals each) under controlled illumination, temperature, relative humidity, doses (0.5 x 106 - 5 x 106 particles/cm3) and size (10-60 nm) of nano-sized particles which are synthesized via aerosol route in a hot wall tube flow reactor using metal organic precursors.
