The Bethrothal of Petr II. of Švamberk and Eliška of Žerotín
KOUBKOVÁ, Natálie
The submitted dissertation uses the form a case study to examine the process of betrothal of Czech nobility before the White Mountain. Thirteen years old Eliška of Žerotín serves as an example because she was courted by two aristocrats, Petr II. of Švamberk and Ladislav Berka of Dubé, in the years 1601 to 1604. When Eliška of Žerotín decided to marry Ladislav Berka of Dubé, her second suitor Petr II. of Švamberk started a litigation process against her mother Ludmila Žerotínská of Kolovraty. According to his opinion he was already betrothed to Eliška of Žerotín and so her marriage to another man was an insult to Petr's honour. The witness statements in the ensuing litigation served as the sources for the dissertation. Apart from the ritual of courtship and betrothal in the Czech kingdom before the White Mountain, the entire litigation between Petr II. of Švamberk and Ludmila Žerotínská of Kolovraty is also examined in the dissertation. The question of the estate of all three participants is not neglected either.

Separate chapters will introduce the authors and the basic plots of the stories. Subsequent chapters will focus on the characters including prisoners and war criminals. The thesis will also address how fiction is intertwined with reality in these novels. Lastly, the thesis will examine the similarities and differences in portraying concentration camps in the novels for adult readers (Morris and Holden) and in the story aimed at children (Boyne).
Computer as an Intelligent Partner in the Word-Association Game Codenames
Chovancová, Kateřina ; Dočekal, Martin (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis extends a system for determining semantic similarity between words and creating word associations. For this purpose, the work uses the fastText predictive model in combination with the DETECT method, and model based on Pointwise Mutual Information calculation. DETECT method uses Dict2vec model, which is trained on dictionary definitions of terms. The resulting system is capable of replacing a player in the word association game Codenames, both as a member of an operative and as a spy. Furthermore, a tool for creating semantic control and knowledge tests was developed within the thesis, which uses a dictionary of Czech synonyms and is used to calculate the TDS value and determine the frequency of occurrence of words. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of data from the STST II. study, in which players’ inter-thought connections while playing a communication game were investigated.
The size of individual lipoproteins in various pathological conditions
Dušejovská, Magdaléna ; Žák, Aleš (advisor) ; Kalousová, Marta (referee) ; Kraml, Pavel (referee)
Metabolic syndrome (MS) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) represent two clinical- pathologic states with increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular complications with considerable impact on the quality of life of the patients. The knowledge about the changes in distribution of individual lipoprotein subfractions could countribute to the estimation of risk of atherosclerosis development. The studies presented in this thesis aimed at analyses of subfractions of LDL and HDL in the abovementioned pathologic states; moreover, we tried to elucidate the associations of changes in lipoprotein subfractions with clinical as well as biochemical alterations. The Study I was a placebo controlled study observing the effect of polyunsaturated fatty acids of n-3 family (PUFA n-3) administration to patients with MS who were divided to statin-treated ones (36 patients), and those without statin therapy (24 probands). The Study II comprised of 57 patients with ESRD on high volume haemodiafiltration (HV-HDF). In this Study, the parameters after 5-year follow-up were compared with baseline characteristics. Also, we included comparisons with the control group of 50 age and sex matched patients without the signs of ESRD. In Study I, we observed lowering of triacylglycerol and cholesterol content in VLDL...
The Wallenfels family and other Jews from Příbram during World War II
Doležalová, Kristýna ; Ebelová, Ivana (advisor) ; Smolová, Věra (referee)
This bachelor's thesis concentrates on the Jewish population in Příbram and specifically the Wallenfels family. The first part looks generally into at the development of the city of Příbram from many aspects. The second part is a guide to the history of the local Jewish population from their humble beginnings, throughout the period when they were forced from the mining towns in 1568 until the present day. Special focus has been placed on World War II and its impact on the local Jewish community. The last part is devoted to the Wallenfels family from when the first members arrived in Příbram, throughout the Holocaust in the Second World War and continues with a detailed history of the family up until 2015. The Wallenfels family history is interesting not only because of their story, but also because it typifies Jewish families in Czechoslovakia during that period.

Startpage for TV Application
Bureš, Michal ; Bureš, Tomáš (advisor) ; Horký, Vojtěch (referee)
In this thesis we implement configurable set-top box TV application in context of an embedded web browser. Work is executed in accord with strict customer requirements and fully integrated into large IPTV platform. It takes form of a complex start-up menu, whose first section is an interactive tile grid with tile- scaled video player. Other sections contain smaller applications or sub-sections. We build upon modules that transform data sources into tiles. They are then pro- jected to horizontal carousels according to dynamic configuration. A well defined interface to integrate new modules is provided. Almost twenty different modules are ready for immediate use. They provide various parametrized tiles such as live programmes that can be directly started or recorded. Our user interface layer, using React and Redux libraries, leverages the single page application paradigm. For predictability, any modification of application state is made by emitting ac- tions handled solely by pure functions. Set-top box performance issues forced us to implement an immutable state optimization that cut the average render time of our React components by more than a half. ii
Cognitive functioning in everyday life in patients with Borderline personality disorder
Krupníková, Hana ; Stehlík, Luděk (referee) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
This thesis focuses on cognitive function in everyday life with an emotionally unstable personality disorder, border type and builds on the thesis, which was defended in 2011. The theoretical part deals with the cognitive functions that have a selective approach in terms of importance within the research project. Chapters on borderline personality disorder contain an overview of the historical development of diagnosis, the diagnosis and further elaborate on diagnostic models of Kernberg and Millon. Both studies link the topics that deal with cognitive functions in individuals with this disorder. In the empirical part, which describes the research project, approaching test methods used. We try to verify the relationship between diagnosed emotionally unstable personality disorder (IPDE questionnaire) and cognitive functions in everyday life using ANT and questionnaires MFQ, CFFQ and MIA in the research and control group. The relationship of cognitive functions and subjective measured depressive symptoms is studied using the BDI-II and MADRS. The research project is complemented by secondary analysis of our research project and Klára Patlichová research project focused on comparing the results of the attention test ANT. This thesis is enhanced by a qualitative part of case studies. Key words:...
