Comprehension of reaging

This diploma thesis is focused to the reading comprehension of the second class pupils at a primary school. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part presents the basic concepts of mapping the issues, such as reading, literacy, reading comprehension; there are also introduced the educational methods (the analytic-synthetic and genetic) and the diagnostic techniques for determining the grade of the reading comprehension in pedagogical-psychological counseling. The ending of this part was dedicated the project Three-level model of care and the results of diagnostic screenings of reading analyzed in the works of P. Barešová (2009, 2010). The target of the practical part was the analysis of resulst of the second class pupils from new created Test of reading comprehension (Pokorná, Wolfová, Kucharská, in Kucharská, 2011). Three types of tasks (such as labeling borders words, fill in missing words in the text and making decision of the claims, whether they are true, in relation to the picture). TITLE: Adult education in providing lay first aid in the historical context and in the present AUTHOR: Klára Špačková DEPARTMENT: Department of Education SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Eva Marádová, CSc. ABSTRACT: The thesis deals with adult education in providing first aid. The theoretical part of the thesis is about development of amateur education in providing first aid, studies conditions, possibilities and attitude of adults towards self-education in providing lay first aid. The practical part of the thesis surveys a group of randomly chosen adults using questionnaire survey methodology to examine their motivation for self-education in providing first aid, factors influencing education of people in this field and to find both effective and underrated forms of adult education in first aid. The goal of the thesis is to map today's possibilities of self-education in first aid, to inquire people's and society's motivation for self-education in first aid and to analyze conditions for general education in this field. Preparing the teachers for the integration of the children with autistic spektrum disorders into regular primary school

The diploma with title Preparing the teachers for the integration of the children with autistic spektrum disorders into regular primary school aims in its theoretical part acquaint the reader with the concept of autistic spectrum disorders, the classification and individual characteristics closer disorders. It provides an overview of suitable approaches, forms and methods of work with these children, educational opportunities and further aims at integration into mainstream schools. In its research section it aims to penetrate deeper into the issue of preparing teachers to integrate pupils with autism and a description of its subsequent course. Based on qualitative research methods, namely semi-structured interviews and document research presents a collection of opinions, attitudes, experiences, recommendations and advice on how to integrate teachers and school principals, as well as opinions and attitudes of teachers who don't have experience with integration. The results of the investigation could be a base for further research of a quantitative nature.
Parental experience with children with language impairment

This bachelor thesis processes the data that was collected using a questionnaire Children's Communication Checklist - 2 (CCC-2), which was developed by D. V. M. Bishop (2003) and adapted version was administered by parents of children with specific language impairment (SLI) and children of intact (I) within the project ELDEL that at European level engaged in the development of language and literacy skills. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of the questionnaire to distinguish between children with specific language impairment and typically developing peers. The main task was to compare two groups and to determine whether in single subscale of questionnaire, in total composites scores and between them there is a statistically significant difference. The sample consisted of two groups of 77 children of preschool age (5-6 years). She performed a quantitative analysis of the data, based on which it was found that among the groups there are statistically significant differences. For a more detailed analysis of the particular subscale in the checklist and mapping of the differences between them were used item analysis. TITLE: Perception and coping with the specific learning disabilities impacts on everyday life of children with this diagnosis. ABSTRACT This text is focused on recognition of impacts of the specific learning disabilities on everyday life as the children with this diagnosis themselves see it and the strategies used by these children in order to cope with these disabilities. The theoretical part summarizes the necessary knowledge of the early school age developmental stage, the interaction of a child with the family, and briefly the stress and the coping. The results of last year's mothers of specific learning disabilities diagnosed children research are also presented. The empirical part is based on semi-structured interviews with six children diagnosed with the specific learning disabilities attending fourth or fifth grade of primary school. Based on it's qualitative analysis, the thesis attempts to clarify how the specific learning disabilities diagnosed children perceive and experience the impacts of this disabilities on them and how do they cope with it. Perception of learning disabilities from middle school student's point of view

Bachelor's work is dealing with issues of specific learning disabilities from student's point of view. In the work are describing basic concepts of this issues, methods of working with children be suffering from learning disabilities. Then there are acquaint consulting workplaces, individual educational plans and the approach to marking of students with learning disabilities. The work is concentrating on social aspects of students with learning disabilities. The field part makes survey between the students of seventh class research basic knowledge, classmate's approach to pupils with learning disability and the strategy of coping issues by children with learning disability.
Understanding sentences in Czech children at risk for dyslexia and SLI

The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the level of comprehension of czech sentences with a different syntactic complexity in children with specific language impairment (SLI) and children at family risk for dyslexia (experimental groups) compared to typically developing peers (control group). Statistically significant differences were proven both between the SLI group and the family risk group and between the SLI group and control group. The assumed descending tendency of achievement in the test blocks was not substantiated.
Morphology development in children at family risk for dyslexia - contribution to study prerequisites for the development of literacy skills in children at risk for dyslexia

A b s t r a c t This thesis is a part of the project concerning risk factors of manifestation of specific learning disabilities in children at risk of dyslexia. Specifically, it deals with the development of morphology in children with family history of specific learning disabilities. Children in preschool and early school age have been repeatedly within three years tested with a diagnostic tool called Test of morphological awareness based on the Test of language (Žlab, 1992). The aim of the study was to map the development of several sub-areas of morphological skills (gender forms, plural nouns, past tense and 3rd person singular verb, adjectives derivation and grammatical agreement). Several issues were concerned. First, whether the development of children in this age group is still ongoing and so if the performance is improving. Second, whether there are differences in the development of children from an intact group (with normal speech development) and a risk group (children from families where at least one parent has suffered from specific learning disabilities). Third, whether is the development influenced by intelligence or sex. Foreign language aptitude of pupils with learning disabilities at the beginning of the foreign language acquisition at the elementary school

The dissertation is dealing with the issue of foreign language aptitude and foreign language abilities of pupils with learning disabilities at the beginning of the foreign language acquisition. The first part of the work describes general theories of the foreign language acquisition and introduces the current trends in education of pupils with learning disabilities in the process of foreign language learning. The second part of the work describes the research, which aim was to investigate the quality and the devlepoment of the foreing language aptitude of the pupils with learning disabilities during the first year of foreign language study at the elementary school. Foreign language aptitude and foreign language abilities were compared with foreign language achievement and with native language and reading skills.
