Procházka, David ; Remr, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The origin of the Internet dates back to as early as 1969 when several computers were successfully connected without employing any central unit. However, it hadn't seen any substantial development until 1989 when the web pages came. Thanks to a dynamic development, it has reached an almost global expansion since then. The permanently growing number of interested users has gradually involved also social scientists. This paper deals, first of all, with the Internet as an option to use in data capture. It defines advantages and drawbacks of this tool in terms of social research. Its focus is on the elimination of risks and disadvantages related to this methodology. Further, it specifies some basic rules, which a researcher should follow when designing an internet research and creating a questionnaire. This work addresses principles related mainly to a quantitative research, however, in the last part there are also some possibilities to a qualitative or mixed research suggested.
