It also compares these parameters depending on the type of medication administered during pregnancy. The first part deals with the theoretical introduction to schizophrenia and also describes the obstetric parameters evaluated for all newborns. The second (practical) part is devoted to the analysis of these parameters of children of mothers with schizophrenia, compared with control group in Prague and mutual comparison of the parameters in children of mothers with different medications.
Pre-clinical model of acute promyelocytic leukemia: Study of the anti-leukemic effect induced by ATRA and DNA vaccination
Pokorná, Kateřina
DOCTORAL THESIS 2012 POKORNA Abstract We have used a well characterized transplantable transgenic mouse model which mimics human acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), both in its biological characteristics and its response to conventional therapeutic drugs. The aim of our study was to better characterize the efficacy of the combined treatment and to determine molecular markers of clinical outcome. We established a minimal residual disease monitoring based on the high sensitivity of detection of PML-RAR transcripts by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology in APL mice. We showed that oncogene-specific PCR-based assays allow, like in patients, the diagnosis, follow-up and prediction of disease evolution. Furthermore, PCR assay was used to assess various tissues and organs for the presence of PML-RAR-positive cells in minimal residual disease free long-term survivors. As expected, majority of mice had no measurable tissue level of PML-RAR demonstrating the efficacy of immunotherapy. However, tracking the oncogene-positive cells reveals for the first time that extramedullary PML-RAR-positive cell reservoirs such as the brain may persist and be involved in the leukemia relapse. We aimed at investigating the immune responses involved in the anti-leukemic effect of the combined immutherapy. To evaluate the...
The impact of the process changes on the calculation of the chosen company
POKORNÁ, Kateřina
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze ongoing processes in the selected small and medium-sized enterprise Pokorny - Sítě s.r.o. Further, to find the bottlenecks, suggest how to improve them and to determine whether these improvements were reflected in the calculations of the products which are made in the company Pokorny - Sítě s.r.o. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters that describe the basic parts like the process, the process management, the process maps, the process management improvement, the reengineering and others. This section helps us to understand and to describe the basic concepts and definitions related to the process control. The practical part is based on analysis of business processes, observations and interviews with the employees and management of the company Pokorny - Sítě s.r.o and identify the bottlenecks which impede the ongoing processes to continue. After the bottlenecks were identified, the changes of the production process were proposed and applied to the production process of the company. The new layout of the production process led to the elimination of the bottlenecks and the reduction of the production time and also impoved the efficiency and continuity of ongoing production process. Subsequently, new calculation formula was propounded. The new calculation formula provides more information per product (costs - fixed and variable, margin, profit per product etc). The result of the applied changes in the production process is the streamlining production, reduced costs and increased company's profit per product.

The main method of the work was compilation meta-analysis based on an analysis of numerous quality publications and world scientific literature focused on the topic of bachelor thesis. Electronic databases EBSCO and PubMed and Internet search engine Google Scholar were used as resources for search. Results It found several high-quality studies concerning the influence of drugs of SYSADOA group on the structure of joints. Generally, drugs of this group may have some influence not only to symptoms accompanying osteoarthritis, but also the structure of joint tissues. However, some studies refute this claim. Therefore, it is necessary perform further extensive studies. The correlation between the stage of disease of the patient and the effectiveness of the individual active substances was found. Patients with moderate...
How active seniors cope with stereotyping
Pokorná, Kateřina ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The diploma thesis "How active seniors cope with stereotyping" presents the view of active senior citizens on the issue of ageism in Czech society. Research based on analysis of semi-structured interviews shows that active seniors do not consider inequality as a major problem, mainly because of their life optimism, which helps them overcome the stereotypes. Another important strategy the respondents - active seniors - apply is building/keeping a distance between themselves and the rest of the senior population, upon which they look the same way as the rest of Czech society does. The idea that they themselves do not match the prejudices, but the other seniors do, reinforces the stereotypical view of older people and also presents the active seniors as exceptional. The veneration of an active lifestyle in old age does not seem to be a direct effect of active aging trend, as all respondents had been very active throughout their whole life. Although active seniors present themselves as open to society, they prefer to spend their free time with other (active) people of their own age. Despite the rhetoric of assertiveness they are often passive, when confronted with discrimination, and try to sidestep an anticipated unpleasant situation.
