Birinyi, Kristýna ; Šárovec, Daniel (advisor) ; Mlejnek, Josef (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the movement ANO (YES) 2011. The aim of this thesis is to find out how the movement works with the populist and anti-political- establishment elements and whether it can be viewed as a populist party. Theoretical bases will come out of the populist and anti-political-establishment party concepts. Basically, there is no generally accepted definition for any of these phenomena and they often intertwine. The study will, among other things, analyze the position of the movement in the czech party system since the movements beginnings in 2012 till the first half of 2019 and should thus contribute to the state of knowledge about populist tendencies of political parties on the example of the movement ANO 2011. Nevertheless the movement ANO (YES) 2011 has been analyzed in the past, the dynamics of political subjects and their ability to significantly change in a very short time should not be denied.

Extreme right aspects of Marine Le Pen's discourse during the presidential election in 2017
Waldová, Julie ; Matějka, Ondřej (advisor) ; Bauer, Paul (referee)
In recent years, Marine Le Pen has been trying to steer away from the far-right past of the National Front (now the National Rally) to become a "party like any other" and thus become a part of the French political mainstream. Since Le Pen became its chairman in 2011, the party has undergone many changes through which the National Front has tried to normalize its rhetorics in order to regain its lost credibility in the eyes of the public. For this transformation, the term dédiabolisation is used, particularly in Francie. In 2017, Le Pen ran for the French president. Though Emmanuel Macron eventually succeeded in the second round of elections, 33.39% of the votes that the National Front candidate received may be perceived as a genuine return of the party to the struggle for political power. Thus, in the context of the growing electoral preferences of populist radical right-wing parties, this thesis addresses the "normalized" discourse of Marine Le Pen in the presidential election and identifies its far-right aspects. A detailed analysis both of her pre-election speeches and her political program then outlines the direction in which France could move towards under the potential rule of the National Front.
(Non-)Existence of Populism in Modern Japan
Petrželková, Eva ; Karmazin, Aleš (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
The word 'populism' has lately been frequently appearing in political discourse all over the world. The word is most often associated with certain persons, such as Donald Trump, Marine LePen, or Andrej Babiš. The reason for this shift in discourse is the fact that many Western countries have been plagued by a wave of (right-wing) populism, for which traditional parties have not found a solution yet. One of the few countries with western-style democracy which has so far been able to avoid this wave is Japan. The goal of this thesis is to find out why that is, and whether there might be any mechanisms within the Japanese political system which prevent the populist phenomenon. The thesis analyzes typical characteristics of populism based on literature about the theory of populism. The thesis then creates a model based on this analysis, and compares it with the current situation in Japan. The model comprises of fifteen criteria which are split into four categories, preconditions for the creation of a populist party, its creation and development process and characteristics, the rhetorical strategies of its leaders/members, and its further development. By applying this model onto the current situation in Japan, the following facts have been uncovered. Japan has been governed by the Liberal Democratic...

The increasing popularity of populist parties in Europe, demonstrated in particular by their electoral success, is attracting increasing attention from the academic community. Although the phenomenon of populism is nothing new and has already been reviewed from a number of different perspectives, it still represents a diverse field for deeper analysis. The thesis deals with the case of the French National Front and its changes during its most successful election campaigns, that is in the presidential elections in 2002 and 2017. Specifically, the thesis also focuses on political communication and especially on the change it has gone through at its management level. By comparing the performance of both leaders and their agenda, the work allows a closer insight into the problem of transforming the ideological base as well as the ways of political communication. The outcome of this work is the analysis comparing the election campaign of Jean-Marie Le Pen and his daughter Marine, the current party leader. The work also contributes to the debate around dédiabolisation, or the de-demonization of the National Front launched under the leadership of Marine Le Pen.

This diploma thesis analyzes some of the most successful movements in the Czech Republic - ANO and Svoboda a přímá demokracie Tomio Okamury through the content analysis and the theory of populism by Cas Mudd. Subsequently, I analyze the content analysis of programming and media representation involving the Facebook social network of both political entities. The results of the analysis are that ANO and SPD - Tomio Okamury fulfill the criteria of all three core features in their media presentations and therefore can be described as populist. There are all three core features appearing in the programs of both movements, what is more SPD is more...
