Petřáková, Mariana ; Hroch, Miloš (advisor) ; Fousek Krobová, Tereza (referee)
The present bachelor thesis examines the content of the print version of Heroine magazine and analyses it in terms of contemporary feminist paradigms. The thesis examines the historical context of the feminist movement in the form of the traditional wave division, which has also produced two significant feminist currents, namely liberal and radical. The theoretical part is devoted to a thorough description of the historical events behind the formation of these currents, introducing their main authors, theoretical concepts and demands. It then places the relationship between feminism and the media in this context, with an emphasis on comparing the different developments of this relationship in the domestic and foreign media scene. The thesis also critically reflects on the rise of neoliberalism and sees it as an important variable in the context of the impact of the capitalist market on feminist media. The research part of this thesis combines in-depth interviews and qualitative text analysis to identify what themes Heroine magazine produces and how these themes reflect the state of contemporary feminist discourse.
Relevance of the theory of the emergence of the new "Transnational Cleavage"
Maděra, Matyáš ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Guasti, Petra (referee)
This essay compares two distinct concepts of a cleavage line - transnational and periphery- centre. The research uses the comparative method. Both concepts will first be contrasted theoretically (comparison of differing theories) and later empirically (through differences in their manifestation into political parties). The results from the comparison of several theories suggest shared traits between both theories, but with a few key differences. Based on data from European political parties, the author of this thesis concludes, that these differences are a result of incorrectly defining the concept of transnational cleavage. Firstly, the cleavage is not yet entirely formed and secondly was not the main impulse for the rise of green parties, which is the main difference between both concepts. This forming cleavage has to be distinguished from a third concept, which is a periphery-centre cleavage on the European level. Author of this essay argues that the conflict within the European Union is a result of cross-cutting between two periphery-centre cleavages on different levels. First has a global reach (which is why it's wrongly labelled as transnational), while the second is only happening in Europe. The two cleavages are distinguished by contrasting centers, but the peripheral protest against these...

Řezníčková, Lucie ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Tušková, Eva (referee)
The diploma thesis "Czech Healthcare Policy after 2010 in the Context of Heger's Reform", deals with the significant institutional change that was implemented in Czech healthcare law during the right-wing government, which claimed its reforms were necessary in order to balance the budget. The aim of this work is to analyze the development of Czech healthcare policy in the period 2010-2013 with respect to the case of Heger's reform. This thesis uses different methods of analyzing the political process, for example methods of institutional analysis, critical discourse analysis, and other methods. The main theoretical basis of this work consists of a social critique of the neoliberal approach to Czech health care policy, and of a study of healthcare systems, their functions and goals, and a study of health policy and its changes. Attention is paid especially to the context of human rights related to health and the international discourse. This thesis identifies the arguments of neoliberal ideology in the policy-making of Czech healthcare policy makers in the process of justifying reforms. It evaluates the legitimacy of reform changes that don't accept the opinion of the public and don't respond to the international discourse, and investigates how the reform introduces new legal terminology which...

The thesis investigates whether the fact that the publishing house is owned by the anti-politician Andrej Babiš projected in any way in case of the right-wing (centre- right) media. The main finding is, that the scrutinized right-wing media consistently avoid the question of legitimacy of squatting but their approach to squatting and leftist activist scene is not hostile. Orcígr, Václav ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Maršálek, Jan (referee)
This paper focuses on the concept of right to the city and tries to link it to the topic of spatial planning in Prague. It introduces the view on the world of global neoliberalism, which comes from critical social geography and was elaborated especially by David Harvey, but originates from the French philosopher Henri Lefebvre. Through the optics of this approach the paper tries to grasp the complex problems of spatial planning on the example of Prague. Through a qualitative questioning of the representatives of CSO's, the paper attempts to show the relevance of the concept for public participation in decision making in urban development. The thesis presents a fundamental critical frame of theories, which evaluates the condition of society in the stage of late neoliberalism, and also the basic approaches to the city in social theory including the context of post-socialism. From these it continues to the analysis of urban space presenting a belief, which gives to the inhabitants of a city the right to make decisions about its shape instead of the capital. It puts emphasis on demarcation of the role of social movements and also the concept of place attachment, which becomes one of the key determinants for the involvement of inhabitants into the processes of urban development. The paper uses the...
No Two Homeless People Are Alike: Homelessness from the Perspective of Institutions
Janatová, Erika ; Vašát, Petr (advisor) ; Blokker, Paulus Albertus (referee)
Homelessness represents a most serious challenge for current cities and their administrations across the globe. Despite this fact, it is surprising that the topic of homelessness from the perspective of institutions has been so understudied so far [e. g. Temelová, Jana et al. 2015]. This paper will focus on the conceptualization of homelessness by institutions. It will try to describe how the institutions, which are dealing with homelessness, conceptualize it and see if the conceptualization occurs in the practice of social service providers. There are three main research questions: (1) how do institutions conceptualize homelessness?, (2) do the conceptualizations change over time and if they do how ? (e. g. under the influence of the "ETHOS" European definition (FEANTSA 2005)), (3) how is the individualizing neoliberal project manifested in this? For answering the questions I will use a qualitative research methodology - semi-structured interviews with representatives of institutions, which will be supplemented by networks mapping and structured literature search of conceptual, methodological and strategic documents, which will first be deductively and then inductively analyzed with using MAXQDA program.
