Vitality in the architectonic environment
Eyer, David ; Horáček, Martin (referee) ; Hudec, Mojmír (referee) ; Kyselka, Mojmír (referee) ; Žabičková, Ivana (advisor)
More and more research studies are being conducted on the quality of architectural space as a factor affecting our mental, social and physical health. In the past, this topic was often overlooked in its complexity. The establishment of the specialized fields of building biology, biophilic architecture and the works of Christopher Alexander and Nikos Salingaros now allow us to consider various facets of this subject. This dissertation aims to analyse the topic of vitality in architectural space by studying the abilities and perceptions of its users. Therefore its aim is not to develop a new theory of “vitality-enhancing architectural space”, but to describe how this phenomenon is perceived by the users themselves. Users can provide feedback on which features of architectural space they see as the most important for the feeling of vitality. These features have been hierarchically organized based on their perceived importance, analysed and described in detail to allow their relatively easy application in practice. This dissertation will also allow a comparison with other existing works on the studied topic.
Reflex of Space
Šrom, Samuel ; František,, Dvořák (referee) ; Korbička, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis named Reflections of Space aims to change the approach at material anodizing and to move this purely technological process to the artistic level. The first part of the thesis summarises concisely a process of anodising and seeks for its demonstrations in the field of culture. The second part of the thesis describes the intention itself and the results of the research in the framework of technological proofs which are presented in the figurative part of the thesis.
Psychological influence of light on humans
Hána, František ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
This Bachelor Thesis is dealing with properties of light and colours and their effects on human psyche. Using this knowledge and also findings of public opinion survey I have designed the ideal arrangement of the entrance hall in a building of Technology university of Brno Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Technická 12. While I was solving this problem I took Feng Shui System into consideration. The Feng Shui System describes how to arrange interior to reach the best possible flow of energy Chi.
SCADA/HMI systems in process control
Sobotka, Lubomír ; Máša, Vítězslav (referee) ; Chlápek, Petr (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to make sommary basic principles of automatic control in process and power industry and describe chosen software, which is used in process and power industry. This thesis describes basic problems of automatic control and is engaged in theory of making vizualization screen and software know as SCADA/HMI.
Policový systém do veřejného prostoru
Pelcová, Kateřina
The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to create a design of a shelving system intended for public space, specifically for children’s playroom in kindergarten. The design itself is preceded by the review of kindergarten furniture currently offered on the market. The theoretical part of the work deals with the requirements for storage systems in public spaces concerning hygiene and safety as well as technology. We also consider the effects of colours in space on healthy child development. The practical part of the work focuses on the design itself. It includes description of the constructional solution, material overview, selection of optimal colour scheme of the shelving system, and 3D visualisation created in programs Cinema 4D and Lumion. Technical drawings are enclosed as appendices of the thesis.
Body surfaces of reptiles as projection screens of evolution
Abramjan, Andran ; Frynta, Daniel (advisor) ; Rehák, Ivan (referee) ; Šulc, Michal (referee)
The PhD thesis deals mainly with the coloration (and also scalation) of selected reptile species and explores evolutionary or ecological contexts indicated by these traits. The main topics can be roughly divided into two groups: 'antipredation signals' and 'effects of parthenogenesis'. The dominant method used in most studies is visual modelling. The work consists of the following case studies. 1) Blue-tongue skinks use their conspicuous blue tongues to threaten potential predators. We found that the tongue has a relatively high UV reflectance, a typical feature of intraspecific communication in lizards. Using visual models, we investigated how the blue tongue is perceived by the conspecifics and predators (birds of prey). In both visual models, the UV-blue tongue appears more conspicuous against the natural background than a pink tongue. In addition, in the conspecifics model, its hue partially overlaps with hues of UV-blue spots, which are sexually selected traits in various species of lizards. Thus, the UV-blue tongue seems to contribute to the effectiveness of the deimatic display and its possible role in intraspecific communication cannot be ruled out either. 2) We detected UV reflectance in non-pigmented areas of the skin in the Leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius). These form white patches...
Grey colour in Czech and its reflection in the Czech dictionaries
Fimanová, Barbora ; Vaňková, Irena (advisor) ; Chromý, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with two lexemes šedý and šedivý, which serve to designate grey colour in Czech. Methodological it is based on the concepts of color terms in the context of cognitive linguistics introduced in the first chapter. Linguistic part of this thesis presents the analysis of the Czech dictionaries and the corpus data, focusing on frequent collocations individual lexemes. Those findings lead to designate one of the adjectives as basic color term in the conception B. Berlin and P. Kay. The research also contributes to the clarification of the problem, in which areas these terms differ or overlap in meaning. For this purpose it uses a typology of semantic structure of colour concept K. Waszakowa. The results show, that originally the adjectives referred to different objects of reality, but gradually the meanings and connotations of both lexemes converge, but still don't work completely synonymously. Keywords colors, grey color, meaning, connotation, collocation, prototype, basic color term, Czech linguistic dictionaries
Multimodal Image Processing in Art Investigation
Blažek, Jan ; Zitová, Barbara (advisor) ; Sablatnig, Robert (referee) ; Tonazzini, Anna (referee)
A B S T R A C T title: Multimodal Image Processing in Art Investigation author: Jan Blažek department: Department of Image Processing, IITA of the CAS supervisor: RNDr. Barbara Zitová PhD., Institute of Information Theory and Automation supervisor's e-mail address: zitova@utia.cas.cz abstract: Art investigation and digital image processing demar- cate an interdisciplinary field of the presented thesis. Over the past 8 years we have published thirteen papers belonging to this field of research. This thesis presents the current state of the art and puts these papers into context. Our research is focused on modalities in the visible and near-infrared parts of the spectrum and affects vari- ous tasks of art investigation. For studying the spectral response of paint materials, we suggest a low-cost mobile multi-band acquisition system and a calibration method extended by a light source with an adjustable wavelength. We created the m3art database of the spectral responses of pigments, available for comparison and public use. The central point of our research is underdrawing detection and visual- ization. For this purpose we have developed: acquisition guidelines based on optical properties of the topmost non-transparent layer, a visualization technique for comparison of modalities, and a signal separation technique...
