Blues from the Inside: Analysis of the Experience of Blues Musicians
Lazar, Jan ; Chrz, Vladimír (advisor) ; Onder, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine, how the blues is experienced and percepted by people, who produce it. There are two kinds of research data: extensive and intensive. In the extensive part of the research a large group of musicians producing blues and blues listeners were questioned in a survey. In the following intensive phase of the research a part of respondents wrote a text on the topic: "What does the blues mean to me". Through qualitative approach, I analysed 16 texts with the goal to present the phenomenological description capturing the both variability and recurring patterns of how the examined musicians experience the blues. This phenomenological description ("blues from the inside") will be confronted with various theoretic conceptions. Central conception of this work is the framework of analytical psychology, especially unitary reality by E. Neumann and transcendence function by C. G. Jung. KEYWORDS Blues, phenomenology, depth psychology, experience, meaning

Holinková, Lucie ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Kalnická, Zdeňka (referee)
This thesis constitutes the gender analysis of the Kateřina Tučková's work Žítkovské bohyně. The methodological and theoretical part defends feminist literary criticism as a legitimate approach to the text, represents a method of feminine writing and reading and examines the question of literary canon. Besides it analyses archetypes, which are demonstrated with using classical feminist texts, which depict typological attributes of characters as well as some model situations of the novel. The characters are related to archetype of witch, Demeter narrative and seductress, which all are interdependent. Except for archetypes, the thesis also discusses the issue of stereotypical display of feminity and masculinity, spirituality connected with women characters, interprets nature of myths and reflects mutual relationship among characters of the novel in the gender system. The proper analysis of female and male characters focuses on the main female characters, which are influenced by male partners and theme of the curse, which is the key for this analysis.

Kohl, Lukáš ; Jakubcová Hajdušková, Lucie (advisor) ; Svatošová, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis is focused on the topic of archetypes in fairy tales and on their visual representations in fine arts. In the theoretic part of my thesis, I refer mainly to the work of Carl Gustav Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz, my own experiences with fairy tales and acquired data from my questionnaire, which was primarily focused on visual ideas (colours and shapes) associated with certain fairy-tale characters by respondents. The purpose of my work was to present the concept of archetype and its possible meanings. The second purpose was to define literature archetypes of European fairy tales with regards to their functions and to gender, stereotypical and visual ideas associated with them. The end of the theoretic part of the thesis is dedicated to Czech visual artists and to their ways of working with fairy-tale topics or motives. I emphasize the influence of Symbolism and Art Nouveau, but illustrations of fairy-tale books since the beginning of the 20th century are emphasized as well. In the next two parts of my thesis I suggest possible realization of the topic of fairy tale in didactic series (for the school subjects of Czech language and literature and Art) and I also present my literature and art project - an author's fairy-tale book. In all the parts of my thesis I deal with the problem of...
Myth in French classicist tragedy and in poetry and prose of symbolists
Loskot, Tomáš ; Listíková, Renáta (advisor) ; Ébert-Zeminová, Catherine (referee)
This thesis deals with how a myth is approached and treated by two different literary movements, namely the classicism and the symbolism. The main aim of this thesis is to compare the shift of meaning and function of the myth in its literary renditions. The works on which we will try to demonstrate these differences are Phèdre by Jean Racine as for the classical movement, and Thésée by André Gide as for the symbolist movement. The thesis poses questions regarding the purpose of these respective literary interpretations and centres around the hypothesis that the classical work focuses on inspiring terror and pity, while the myth as treated by the symbolists seems to serve rather as a dialogue with oneself. Moreover, symbolists perceive the myth's archetypal content to be more suitable in expressing the essential, in accordance with the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, while the classical period is much more preoccupied with Antiquity and follows strictly the rules as established in Aristotle's Poetics. The theoretical part of the thesis concentrates on the definition and delimitation of the keywords, as well as describing the different kinds of myths. It also gives a brief outline of the respective literary movements. The analytical part deals with what the authors wanted to express through the...
