Design of E-Learning Application for the Course English for IT
Hotový, Tomáš ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Ellederová, Eva (vedoucí práce)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to develop an e-learning application that would be used as a supplementary tool for the course English for IT. First, the thesis examines existing applications used for English vocabulary learning along with the consideration of what elements could be derived from them. Next, it focuses on the design and implementation of the application as well as the presentation of technologies used. The thesis also provides the theoretical framework of vocabulary teaching and learning which is followed by an analysis of various vocabulary testing exercises employed in the program. Finally, a guide for students and teachers is developed to assist them with using the application. The result of the thesis is the functional application for the students of the course which will enable them interactive vocabulary learning and preparation for lessons.
English as a Lingua Franca in IT Advertising Campaigns
Arutsiunian, Aliaksandra ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Zmrzlá, Petra (vedoucí práce)
In the 21st century, we can undoubtedly speak about a significant growth in the number of people who either use English on a daily basis or learn it intensively. English has become a global language of science, technology, education and business. As a main tool for communication, English has been granted the status of a Lingua Franca (ELF). Used by the representatives of various cultures, English has developed into a supranational language which has implemented authentic characteristics of different languages and cultures. Although ELF research is still considered to be in its initial phase, I will endeavor to identify specific features of ELF in IT advertising campaigns, using press releases of leading international IT corporations.
Video games, books and film adaptations and their impact on gaming community
Přichystal, Jan ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Šedrlová, Magdalena (vedoucí práce)
This thesis aims at describing techniques used in the process of making a book into a video game, main aspects of such a transition, changes in different media that occur during this process and describing the relations between video games, literature and movies. It also comments on some of the recent technologies used in the process of developing a video game. Main topics of this thesis will be demonstrated on the series of books, TV show and popular RPG The Witcher, originally created by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. In rather contrasting comparison with these popular Slavic tales, the other examples will be mostly e-sport games and also a variety of other games of different genres. However, this is not the only topic described in this thesis. It also aims at the impact of the relationship between books, movies and games on the society – or more precisely – the gaming community. The impact can be seen in many fields – e.g. subcultures composed of fans (fandom), costume play (cosplay), and professional gaming (e-sports). The statements concerning this part of the bachelor thesis will be also supported by my own research conducted using Google Forms, with a sample of video game players from a Facebook site Hráči 2.0.
Selected Types of DC Circuit Analysis in MATLAB Programming Language
Urbanová, Hedvika ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Ellederová, Eva (vedoucí práce)
This bachelor thesis deals with methods of a DC circuit analysis. Both universal and special methods are discussed. All methods are theoretically determined. Calculation procedure is explained and advantages and disadvantages of each method are considered. Universal methods are explained by means of a problem identical for each method. Next, MATLAB is introduced as a programming language. Four of the discussed methods are written into the programming language MATLAB 2014a, namely the loop current method, the node voltage method, Kirchhoff’s laws, and the superposition method. The loop current method as well as Kirchhoff’s laws are programmed for two to four loops. The node voltage method is programmed for two to four nodes. The superposition method is programmed only for two loops. A graphical user interface is defined and designed for the program of Kirchhoff’s laws. Finally, the use of the programs by students is considered.
Nanostructures and Nanosensors
Křečková, Jitka ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Ellederová, Eva (vedoucí práce)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to introduce the application of nanotechnology in sensing devices, provide fundamental information about nanotechnology including the description and the classification of nanostructures, and emphasise the possibility to enhance sensor operation by means of nanotechnology. The thesis also deals with the application of a nanowire as part of a sensor using the configuration of the field-effect transistor. Quantum dots and their application in optical detection, mainly in the field of nanomedicine, are considered in this thesis as well. The last part is focused on the advantages and current restriction of nanosensors.
Electrical Shock: First Aid
Chytil, Ivo ; Baumgartnerová, Alena (oponent) ; Haupt, Jaromír (vedoucí práce)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to introduce the problematic of Electric Shock with the subsequent First Aid. Firstly, the reader will be introduced to the problematic of the First Aid. Secondly, the reader will be informed about various dangerous environments and possible causes of treatment. The part of the thesis focuses on electrical safety. An individual who uses electric devices should be familiar with electrical safety to prevent risks of electrocution. The primary goal of the thesis is a better understanding of the topic First Aid after Electric shock and an acquisition of basic knowledge from electrical safety to prevent possible injuries.
The use of metaphors in various genres of electrical engineering discourse
Svobodová, Pavla ; Zmrzlá, Petra (oponent) ; Haupt, Jaromír (vedoucí práce)
This bachelor thesis focuses on metaphor as a linguistic phenomenon and its use in various types of texts dealing with transistors, including popularization news articles, online tutorials, textbooks, and research articles. The aim is to map the occurrence and function of metaphorical expressions used in engineering discourse, and to classify them in terms of conceptual metaphors. The thesis also includes a comparison of the texts with respect to the phenomena under investigation.
Linguistic Analysis of the Press Releases of a Selected IT Company
Přidal, Tomáš ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Reich, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
This thesis aims at evaluative language in press releases. It is divided in two parts. In the first theoretical part is explained what is press release and how should it look like. Furthermore methods of powerful communication, persuasion and manipulative language are described. In practical part will be press releases analysed using knowledge from theoretical part. The goal of this thesis is to analyse and identify manipulative language in press release.
Science and Technology in Media
Gellnerová, Zuzana ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Smutný, Milan (vedoucí práce)
This thesis deals with the influence of Media, especially New Media, on the field of Science and Technology. It defines basic media terms and warns that Media may represent an excellent mean of Science and Technology promotion. On the other hand, they are very powerful and can distort reality and manipulate with humans. There are explored several examples in the thesis, too. The conclusion outlines a possible view on the interconnection of Science, Technology and Media in the future.
