Morphology development in children with specific language impairment - contribution to study prerequisites for the development of literacy skills in children at risk for dyslexia
Kučerová, Tereza ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Špačková, Klára (referee)
A b s t r a c t This thesis is based on two projects which follow one another and which deal with study of development of language and literacy skills in children at risk of dyslexia. The thesis describes the development of morphological awareness in children with specific language impairment. The level of morphological awareness was repeatedly tested during three years at children in preschool and early school age with the Test of morphological awareness. This method was prepared on the basis of Žlab's Test of language awareness (1992) and maps development of several subareas of morphological skills - gender forms, plural nouns, past tense and third person singular verb, adjective derivation and gramatical agreement. Several issues were concerned. First, whether the development of children in this age group is still ongoing and whether the Test of morphological awareness can measure this ongoing. Second, whether there are differences in the performance of children from normal speech development group (control group) and specific language impairment children group, where according to the disorder the morphological deficits can be expected. Qualitative analysis of observed subareas of morphology was also performed. The conclusions of analysis are discussed in the context of theoretical approaches, current...
The Development of communication skills in children with logopedics defect
KOUBOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis is focused on speech development in children with developmental dysphasia in pre-school period. In the theoretical part are described the development of speech in the preschool period, factors influencing speech development, impaired communication ability and impaired speech development. The main theme of the theoretical part is developmental dysphasia, its etiology, characteristic features, differential diagnosis and therapies. Further, this part of thesis describes effects of developmental dysphasia on the child, his personality and his family. The partial goal of the thesis is mapping of development in other areas (memory, visomotor coordination and visual analysis and synthesis) that are disturbed because of developmental dysphasia. This section is based on four short diagnostic tasks, analysis of children's papers and teacher's diary. The resulting data is recorded in case reports, tables and evaluated in response to research questions.

Mielniková, Renáta ; Housarová, Blanka (advisor) ; Štěpáníková, Alena (referee)
Final work "Interaction between speech and motion of a schoolgirl with developmental dysphasia" is focusing on finding in which way are speech and movement skill interacting specifically in the case of a school-girl with serious developmental dysphasia. In its theoretical part I'm focusing at first on the term disturbed communication ability, development dysphasia, its symptomatology and then at the term verbal development dyspraxia. Important information concerning this dilemma are also listed in second chapter which focuses on the problem of reading, process of mastering of reading and writing with understanding. The third chapter of the theoretical part is focusing on characteristics of terms as movement, motoric acts, coordination and also dyspraxia. I based the practical part on testing of children of the third grade at usual basic school as well as at the basic logopaedia school, which is attended also by the school-girl with serious development dysphasia I've been observing and monitoring. I created two different tests. First about reading with understanding and then second one about movement abilities. Their goal was to find in which way are reading and movement abilities interacting. In the end of my work I'm summarizing all the gathered findings, I'm also comparing results of testing...
Specific symptoms of the specific language impairment
Vávrů, Petra ; Smolík, Filip (advisor) ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (referee)
The thesis reports on specific language impairment (SLI). First part of the thesis summarizes first the current theoretical knowledge about this issue. It reviews terminology, classification, etiology, symptoms, diagnostic, therapy and association SLI with developmental dyslexia. The thesis then refers about search for diagnostic markers of SLI in pre-school age. The empirical part of the thesis summarizes the research conducted. Three groups of children were compared- 19 children with SLI, 19 peers without SLI (AC) and 19 younger language- matched children (LC). Four diagnostic methods were used - picture vocabulary test, number recall, sentence repetition and non-word recall. In all tests children with SLI performed poorly than AC-group and in some of them also poorly than LC-group. Limitation in sentence repetition and non-word recall, omission of prepositions and clitics and also omission of verbs or using of incomplete infinitive forms in sentences were detected as possible relevant diagnostic markers.
