Bretton Woods system has never been a main topic of Czech economic literature even though it strongly influenced finance of the most developed countries between 1944 and 1971 (1973). Šohájková, Barbora ; Sehnálková, Jana (advisor) ; Raška, Francis (referee)
The 'special relationship' between the United States and the United Kingdom has existed since the beginning of the 1940s. During the Second World War, a strong alliance emerged that was based on a defense policy against a common enemy and a shared value principle. Throughout the Cold War, the special relationship evolved from a weakening of mutual relations in 1960s and 1970s to a renewed rapprochement in 1980s, mainly because of the shared opinions of the U.S. President Ronald Reagan and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. After the geopolitical changes in 1989 a debate developed over the future of their special relationship. The question was whether (or in what form) the transatlantic alliance will continue to remain. The 9/11 terrorist attacks upon the United States gave the answer to this question and provided the impetus for renewed mutual British-American relations. Immediately after the attacks, the United Kingdom expressed its full support for the US-led fight against terrorism and followed the United States first into Afghanistan and later into Iraq. However, both President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair were strongly criticized that their war engagement, particularly in relation to the war in Iraq, had been unlawful and was based on false evidence supporting the...

The aim is to analyse and compare the systems of business support that are being implemented in the Czech Republic and in the UK. In addition, the dissertation is focused on the proposal for changes in the Czech system that seem useful with respect to the comparison of systems, analyses of business bases and the surveys undertaken in both the CR and the UK.

Lužná, Nikola ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Janković, Vukica (referee)
The thesis is focused on the analysis of the Fair Trade concept. Its main goal is to evaluate the potential of the market in the Czech Republic based on the analysis of the development of Fair Trade in the rest of the world and successful strategies used on various national markets, but with special emphasis on the strategy in the United Kingdom, where the concept is the most developed. Firstly, it describes the origin, formation and worldwide expansion of the movement. Afterwards, it characterizes basic principles and standards that have been set up and have to be kept by all the participants through the whole system. Secondly, I focus on the commodities that are sold under the Fairtrade Mark with an emphasis on the most significant ones, coffee and bananas. The general overview of the development of Fair Trade on the world market leads me to the market of the United Kingdom where I evaluate the causes of its success. Finally, I analyze the market in the Czech Republic and based on the strategies discovered on previous national markets I suggest those which could be applied on this market as well.
