Czech Debt Relief Policy from the Perspective of the Theory of Social Construction of Target Populations
Hanzlíková, Eliška ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Ochrana, František (referee)
The bachelor thesis Czech Debt Relief Policy from the Perspective of the Theory of Social Construction of Target Populations deals with the development of policy design of Czech debt relief policy between 2013 and 2023, using the perspective of the social construction of target populations theory. The premise of this theory is that the perception (social construction) and power of the target population influence the configuration of policy design. Thus, the main objective of this thesis is to investigate how the policy design of the Czech debt relief policy has changed between 2013 and 2023. In line with the theory, this objective is followed by two sub-objectives, namely to identify the direction of changes in benefits and burdens resulting from legislative changes for the target population and to identify how the frames in which the target population was embedded in policy discourse and media discourse differed. A study of legislation, explanatory memoranda to legislative proposals, and a framework analysis of stenographic records from the lower house of Parliament and selected media content are used to accomplish these objectives. The social construction of debtors is not straightforward and is on the borderline of the construction of the dependents or deviants. The characteristics of the policy...
Analysis of product placement in Czech films from 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2022
Holan, Ondřej ; Kruml, Milan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to confirm the assumption that with the advent of streaming services, Czech filmmakers will be forced to use product placement more often to increase their budgets after many viewers will go to the cinema less often. It was assumed that the products would be shown in the films in connection with the main character, who would actively use the item for a long time. The defined period for the research was between 2010 to 2022 in order to examine the effect of the enactment of product placement in Czech law and also to examine the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the film industry. The given time span was divided into five consecutive periods each three-years apart. Due to the number of films planned for analysis, the method of quantitative content analysis was used. A significant number of hypotheses have not been confirmed. Only the assumptions that there will be a noticeable increase in the frequency of product placement, an increase in the frequency of unique brands, an increase in the percentage ratio of dominant shot to the remaining shots, and a higher frequency of unique brands in films with lower budgets have been confirmed. The main reasons for the non-confirmation of hypotheses include a small research sample, comparing several periods at once, the situation...
The impact of AI tools on higher education students
Lacina, Ondřej ; Soukup, Petr (advisor) ; Remr, Jiří (referee)
In the world of rapidly evolving technologies, the last two years have seen a massive expansion of artificial intelligence. We are therefore all encountering emerging AI tools in our everyday lives. The thesis titled The Impact of AI Tools on Higher Education Students focuses on the ways in which students of Czech universities approach these new emerging technologies. After explaining the notion of artificial intelligence, the fundamental breakdown of the tools is outlined. The possible good and negative elements of these new instruments are also discussed. For the research, a mixed research design is adopted, which separates the analysis into two sections using the explanatory sequential design's processes. In the first step, a quantitative questionnaire survey was undertaken, with respondents divided proportionally into ten quotas based on the ISCED-F 2013 category. Semi-structured interviews were used in the second stage to augment the questionnaire survey. The analysis resulted in the key trends in the use of AI tools among students of Czech universities. High focus is given on the frequency of use, preferred tools, usual purposes of usage in academic, private, and professional life, faith in the generated information, and worries about potential negative consequences. The usual user groups for...

Thema works: Evaluation of the physical fitness of students 4th and 5th grade elementary school through disciplines of "Odznak všestrannosti" Student: Aneta Štěpánová Supervisor: Doc. PhDr. Aleš Kaplan, Ph.D., MBA Aims: The primary aim of the thesis was to assess the level of physical fitness in 4th and 5th grade students of a selected primary school. For evaluation were used the 10 disciplines of the "Odznak všestrannosti". To determine a sufficient level of physical fitness, I have chosen the criterion of achieving a minimum of a bronze badge score in the "OV". The secondary aim was to compare the measured values between boys and girls. Methodology: Testing was conducted using a quantitative research method through the disciplines of the "Odznak všestrannosti" in physical education classes. In total, students were tested in 10 disciplines. The data obtained from the testing was recorded in tables, then statistically processed and evaluated by programme MS Excel. Results: Investigated file consisted of 46 boys and 59 girls. Of the total number of boys, 30 % were successful, with the category born in 2013 performing best in terms of number and value of badges earned. Only 9 % of boys performed above average in terms of achieving a better than bronze badge. A total of 28 % of students achieved below...
Media image analysis of the corruption in Czech soccer between 2013 and 2023
Kotalíková, Julie ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Doboš, Bohumil (referee)
The topic of my thesis is the analysis of the media image of corruption in Czech soccer between 2013-2023. In my research, I will focus on the corruption case of Roman Berber, which took place during the period under study. Football is one of the most popular sports in the Czech Republic and certainly the most widely played, which makes it more popular for the media and for collusion. The first part of the thesis describes the phenomenon of corruption as such. The second part is conceived descriptively with a brief description of the football system in the Czech Republic and also outlines the course of the 2020 corruption case. The media image analysis maps corruption in Czech soccer through the media space of public and commercial media. It focuses on the biggest corruption case that has erupted in the Czech Republic in this sport in the last ten years. In any case, football is one of the places where the phenomenon of corruption can be encountered, as in many other places in society.
Mortgage lending and credit risk: Micro-level data analysis
Vachušková, Karolína ; Geršl, Adam (advisor) ; Jakubík, Petr (referee)
This thesis examines the effects of the debt service-to-income ratio (DSTI), debt-to-income ratio (DTI), and loan-to-value ratio (LTV) on credit risk. The dataset includes monthly loan-level data from around 250 thousand mortgages in the Czech Republic from July 2013 to July 2023. Using logit regressions, we confirm a positive effect of the level of DSTI, DTI and LTV on loan delinquency. Furthermore, we discover that the effects of these key lending variables are heterogeneous depending on the income and wealth classes as well as on the region of the client. Other explanatory variables align with general assumptions: a higher level of education, number of co-debtors, and GDP growth reduces the risk, whereas a higher interest rate increases the probability of delinquency. The thesis contributes to the debate on how effective macroprudential policy instruments using caps on DTI, DSTI and LTV are at employing a unique dataset. Neighbour's rights and their protection in the theory and practice in context with the selected European legislation
Šmat, Ondřej ; Frinta, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zvára, Michael (referee) ; Psutka, Jindřich (referee)
Neighbour's rights and their protection in the theory and practice in context with the selected European legislation Abstract The main goal of this thesis is the complex description of the neighbour's rights and their protection in the effective Czech civil code. The wide variety of rules and regulations, which historically serve as specific limitations of proprietor's rights between persons who can be called neighbours, is comprehensively described in the five chapters of this work. The thesis emphasizes the historical elements of the topics, as well as current effective laws and regulations, which are nowadays based mainly upon historical traditions of Roman law, which was the main inspirational source for the ABGB, the last similar civil code effective in the time of The First Czechoslovak republic. The effective civil code significantly changed the system and depiction of the neighbour's rights and to a great extent surpasses previous conception of the civil codes effective from 1. 1. 1950 to 31. 12. 2013. The most important changes are bound with the broad extension of the protection of the neighbour's rights and significant clarification of its system in the current effective civil code. Furthermore, many institutes of the protection of the neighbour's rights have returned into the Czech civil code...
Attitudes of Philippines and Vietnam on China's geopolitical activities in the South China Sea
Mlíková, Anna ; Horálek, Adam (advisor) ; Šebok, Filip (referee)
This thesis examines the attitudes of the Philippines and Vietnam towards China's geopolitical activities in the South China Sea between 2013 and 2023. The thesis aims to analyse the attitudes of the Philippines and Vietnam with an emphasis on the official policy discourse of both countries. Through critical discursive and content analysis, the evolution of their attitudes and responses to Chinese activities in the region is examined. Drawing on the theoretical framework of geopolitics, specifically classical and critical geopolitics, the thesis places contemporary territorial disputes in historical context and explains the geo-economic and geostrategic significance of the South China Sea. The thesis results show that the attitudes of both the Philippines and Vietnam have evolved over the period 2013-2023. Both countries were highly critical of Chinese activities in the first half of the period under review and gradually shifted to a more conciliatory stance and sought dialogue with China. However, both countries continued to assert their claims and sovereignty over the disputed areas. The analysis also showed that the official political discourse of both countries reflected their efforts to maintain a balance between protecting their interests and maintaining good relations with China.
