Boredom in the film Untitled
Bernátková, Tereza ; Kratochvíl, Jaroslav (advisor) ; VACHEK, Karel (referee)
Based on a literature in the fields of psychology, visual anthropology and sensory ethnography the thesis examines boredom in film, especially the critical potential the boredom has. The key is the question, what happens in film if seemingly nothing is going on. Boredom in film is studied specifically on the example of Stephanie Spray's fims, anthropologist and filmmaker associated with Sensory Ethrnography Lab (SEL). Boredom is conceptualized as an interesting emotion encouraging sensing here and now. The thesis does not promote boredom, rather shows it as an sustainable approach towards audiovisual media and representation of the reality.

Gluten-free diet in the training of students from hotel school and apprenticeship cook-waiter.
VRZALOVÁ, Radka
Gluten-free diet is a concept inflected in the media in recent years very often. This thesis is devoted to exploring whether and how the theme of "gluten-free diet" is put in theoretical and practical training for students and trainees of Secondary School and Higher Vocational School of Tourism (Vyšší odborné školy cestovního ruchu) in České Budějovice, subjects focused on gastronomy. The theoretical part focuses on the explanation of celiac disease, gluten-free meals, legislation dealing with the labeling of allergens (gluten). There are also discussed the eating problems of patients with gluten-free diet in restaurants and canteens. In the practical part there search has been conducted to determine how students are familiarized with this theme, what knowledge they have and whether they can use it in practice. The survey was conducted through a question naire survey, observation in the lessons and the analysis of used literature. Graphic design with commentaries was chosen to evaluate the qualitative survey questionnaires.

Controlled Freedom of Choice: Interaction in New Media
Jakubčáninová, Eva ; Brejcha, Jan (advisor) ; Slavíček, Daniel (referee)
This diploma thesis concerns topic of control within interactivity in the new media. It deals with concept of interactivity from the perspective of the new media and semiotics. Later on it presents insight on different mechanisms and levels of control, which are present within the interactivity. The thesis is focused only on those mechanisms that are aimed at a user. These concern for example dataveillance, data-based discrimination, disciplination, tailoring, monitoring or persuasive games. This line is extended and connected with the contributions of Roland Barthes, Michel Foucault and Vilém Flusser, who dealt with topics such as power, discipline and apparatuses. The aim of this thesis is to find out, what is the position of a user in relation to the mechanisms of control and what are her/his possibilities of action against these mechanisms (if any). Keywords: interactivity, new media, control, surveillance, semiotics, user, data, apparatus

User-generated content and its use in news media
Šesták, Martin ; Švelch, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Jirák, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis aims to explore the increasing activity of internet users who intensively create, publish and spread their own content. The majority of this content is related to news and traditional forms of mass media organizations, which now must contend with the new means in which to disseminate information. The theoretical portion of this thesis describes the development of network media and strives for ground active user participation in media discourse and a historical context. Kinds of user-created contents will be introduced, defining their characteristics and analyzes these users who are called "prosumers" or "produsers" in the Web 2.0 era. Attention is also focused on user-generated content accessed by news websites and citizen journalism. The second part analyzes how the foremost world news media use and benefit from user-generated content. Examined media are iReport CNN, uReport Fox News and Have Your Say BBC. The text also analyzes the Czech news media, especially ČT24 news channel and main Czech news websites. The thesis closes with a comparison between Czech and world media and offers analysis of different media organizations approaches to user-generated content. Flow-chambers for microscopy of living cells
Čolláková, Jana ; Ježek, Jan (referee) ; Antoš, Martin (advisor)
The perfusion chamber for long term observing of live cells by the means the Coherence-Controlled Holographic Microscope (CCHM) was designed. CCHM was built and designed at the Laboratory of the optical microscopy at the Institute of Physical Engineering, Brno University of Technology. CCHM can quantitatively evaluate dynamical changes inside live cells thanks to the quantitative information about phase shift in each pixel of the image. In order to demonstrate advantages of CCHM experimentally, it is important to keep the live cells in the good conditions. This is made by adding the fresh cultivation medium for studied cells directly in the microscope. In contrast to the stationary chamber the perfusion chamber allows both the cultivation medium exchange and the application of biological reagents without the necessity of removing the chamber from the microscope. Therefore we can study the vital signs of cells before and after the application of reagents. An original perfusion system with accessories compatible with CCHM was designed. The design is based on the previously published perfusion system solutions that are referred to in this thesis. The flow characteristics and medium exchange process was discussed and a modification of the internal geometry, based on numerical simulations, was introduced. The applicability of this perfusion chamber has been proven for the CCHM and even for different types of microscopes. The reactions of tumor and epithelial cells during the change of the environment from the cultivation medium to the physiologically solution were studied.

The usage of participles and transgressives of the verbs "buti" (to be), "sakyti (to say) in contemporary texts. Their equivalents in Czech and Latvian languages
Durmanová, Lucie ; Lemeškin, Ilja (advisor) ; Marvan, Jiří (referee)
In my thesis "The usage of participles and transgressives of the verbs "bti" (to be), "sakyti" (to say) in contemporary texts. Their equivalents in Czech and Latvian languages" the object of my research is a grammatical phenomenon of indefinite verb forms in the narrow sense of the Lithuanian, Czech and Latvian languages. The subject matter is a treatise of various forms of participles and transgressives (we are not specifically concerned with infinitive in this thesis), chiefly in the Lithuanian language, but in relation to the Czech and Latvian language. Participles and transgressives are regarded as grammatical units, which are an integral part of a modern-day language; however the currency of their usage, in contrast to the past, is fading. We have focused on a summary of existing knowledge of participles and transgressives in the Lithuanian, Latvian and Czech language, pointing out the similarities and differences among them; on collection of actual language materials and the analysis of the usage in the Bibliographic database of Lithuanian newspaper articles (Lith. Bibliografin Lietuvos periodins spaudos straipsni baz; a collection of articles, published in Lithuanian printed media from 1994 to 2002). One of the objectives of my thesis was to compare equivalents of Lithuanian, Latvian and Czech forms,...
