Casual computer games in chemistry education - possibilities and limits
Fiala, Vít ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
This master thesis is aimed at the issue of activating methods of teaching, namely didactic games in Chemistry lessons. In the theoretical part activating methods of teaching, didactic games, visualization of molecules and the programming language Java were described. The aim of the practical part was to create the "Chemical 3D Matching Pairs Game", dealing with two topics - the naming of organic compounds and the natural products. The 3D structure of used compounds can be examined by students during playing the game. The created game was tested by secondary school students and its didactic potential was evaluated. The main benefits of the game were student activation and a high motivational character.
Didactic game as a way to open the world of geometry
Malcová, Michaela ; Jirotková, Darina (advisor) ; Tůmová, Veronika (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to explore thinking processes of pupils when solving problems of geometric manipulative environment Parquets. I elaborated this environment Parquets and stated characteristic tasks. I have also described, in what mental schemes of mathematical concepts solving tasks may contribute. I made use of pupil's life experiences with the game Ubongo in the presentation of the environment for them. The diploma thesis is presenting the ideas of the constructivist approach to teaching mathematics. Necessary relevant theoretical concepts are defined in the theoretical part. The experiment with third grade, who attended the Math's club is the basis of this diploma thesis. Video recordings were transcribed in the form of a written report and these were analyzed in the aim of diagnosing and describing phenomena that are related to discussions of pupils, their cooperation within the group and the development of mathematical experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the student, but also the personality and social competences. In the analysis I also pay attention to the role of the experimenter, who was also in the role of a teacher. In conclusion, I made recommendations that could improve the lesson.
Chemical elements in teaching chemistry at elementary school and lower secondary school
Dobřemyslová, Mária ; Teplý, Pavel (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis is emphasising the practical use of chemical elements at elementary schools and at corresponding grades of lower secondary schools. The theoretical part of the thesis focus on documents regulating the content of education at mentioned school types. Further on, the thesis discuss textbooks and further educational materials designed for the mentioned age group that deal with the use of chemical elements. At the end of the theoretical part there is described a didactic game as one of activation methods usable in teaching. Practical part outline a design of a didactic game. The rules of the game are based on matching names of chemical elements with real objects containing these elements or their compounds. The attachment includes all the materials needed for playing this game. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Language games in the 3rd and 4th year of primary school
Štuksová, Marie ; Pišlová, Simona (advisor) ; Janovec, Ladislav (referee)
Czech language is an unattractive and boring subject for some pupils. In this work I deal with linguistic game, by which I would like to promote interest in the subject. In the theoretical part I determine the subject matter of the word classes, new algorithms and principles that should be followed in the curriculum. In addition, there is a definition of game and its place in the life of a child. Other concepts, such as "didactic play" and "language game", are explained as well. In the practical part I analyze the questionnaire, which is concerned with language games in the third and fourth year of primary school. I evaluate teachers' opinions on play, if they involve games during their lessons and whether pupils play these games with interest or not. This section also contains a reservoir of language games that are designed to practice and consolidate the particular curriculum. I tried to link theory with practice as much as possible. The main aim of my thesis is to use games to make teaching methods more interesting and fun for children.
Activating methods and forms of work in teaching Mathematics at primary school
Mikešová, Lenka
The Diploma Thesis aims to make a collection of didactic games for Mathematics education at primary schools. The theoretical part of the Thesis deals with methods and forms, which are based on studied literature, mainly of methodical kind. The practical part engages in using activating methods and forms, primarily concrete didactic games in Mathematics. The chapter named "Collection of games" includes fifteen didactic games focused on development of creativity and logical thinking, which are verified by young learners at the lower-primary level of several schools. The characterization of each game is composed of many parts, where key competencies, a didactic aim, a recommended grade, a description of the activity, needed aids and also reflections of the realization of the game with children are indicated. The realization is variegated of anticipated difficulties, recommendations and modifications.
Educational computer game, its creation and use for practice of nomenclature of organic compounds
ENGLICKÝ, Tomáš
This diploma thesis is concerned on the creation of computer game (adventure). This game may be used as means of motivation in chemistry lessons at primary school. The student is tested on the relevant topics of organic chemistry during the game. The tests are mainly directed on the organic chemistry nomenclature. The adventure takes place in the castle Jindřichův Hradec. The student also learns the basic facts and history of this compound. In this way they acquire inter-subject links.
Interactive didactical application for basic computer control education in Unity 3D
STRMISKA, Ondřej
Aim of this bachelor thesis is creating educational game application, designed for pupils of the first grade of elementary school, used to teach the basic of computer control. Application will be created using the Unity 3D engine. Unity 3D is gaming development platform that allows to create 2D or 3D applications for computers, consoles, mobile devices, websites, etc. In the theoretical part of a survey was conducted of already created similar applications used in contemporary computer classes. Based on the analysis results were chosen themes, which were created in application. In the practical part were programmed individual topics in the Unity 3D, of which were later made one complete application. Created application was tested by students of Teacher 1st grade primary school and application was modified by their response. For application were created website, with a link to launch or download the application. These websites are located on the school portal and they are accessible from the link: http://home.pf.jcu.cz/jop/.
